The greatest conflict our world has seen


Chapter 2
The Horn Sounds Thrice

[POV. Nomasians]​

The Kingdom of Nomas was located on the other side of the alps, from the Begurthians’ perspective, that is. It was very similar in appearance, only the mountains were to the North. Looking further South, were green meadows, little forests, and small hills. Countrymen who wanted no part in civilization lived to the South. Mostly old people who cared not of quarrels between ordinary folk.


The time came when the Nomasians came back from their meeting. The King of Nomas had a plan.


The horn blared. All the people who lived in Nomas awoke. They heard the call of the horn, that 3 note melody. It happened three times. They knew what that meant. The king of Nomas was calling his elite troops together for a serious mission.


King Theo the Great rubbed his head. He had not only called his best warriors for battle, but he wanted their advice. He wasn’t sure what to do regarding the weapon. He wanted it, but he wasn’t sure if it was guarded, or how many troops he needed. He would leave it up for discussion between his most trusted men and advisors.


Theo walked outside and sat on his chair, taking a deep breath in. He awaited the seven men he had called. While he was thinking about how it would sort out, he heard a hawk squawk. He knew what that meant. Allen was here.


The hawk drooped down into the courtyard and dropped his luggage off. Allen dismissed him, and walked toward Theo. “My Lord! This must be incredibly important. You haven’t called us since the Dark days. What’s up?”

The King looked at Allen with deep thought. “I need your advice on something extremely important. This could change our fortune in this world.”

They walked inside. A maid had prepared hot drinks and cakes for the important guests. They ate and drank as they chatted. As they began to speak, footsteps were heard, walking through the corridor. “Dark!”, Allen exclaimed, “how good to see you! Haven’t seen you in for ages. What brings you to this side of Nomas?” He said this with a little chuckle. Dark and Allen had been friends for quite some time. All of them had been in fact.

“Well, I hear there’s urgent business. So I thought it would be beneficial to help an old friend out. Ey, Theo ol’ boy?”

“Glad you’re here Dark,” the king said, “we only await five more of our guests.”

Dark sat down and started eating the cakes. “Where’s the rum?”


The day crept on. As the cakes were disappearing rather quickly, Snail walked in. His composure was knightly. He was so strong, yet wickedly nimble. He had a sense of duty about him. On top of that, he was one of the king’s most trusted servants. He said as he strode in, “I see you’ve made Dark happy. All you need for him to come to a meeting is food.”

“Haha!” the king exclaimed, “food does seem to draw him in.” come in Snail, come in. We have an important topic to discuss.

They asked the maid for more cakes, and started chatting. As they began to unfold the deep mysteries of what king of cakes the maid would bring out, Fazzy and Wolf walked in. They were buddies from birth. They had fought at least a dozen battles together, all in victory. They were not from Nomas. They were from the South East, across the water. Their land had been through many hardships.


Wolf and Fazzy took a seat at the royal table, and began unraveling their opinions on the cake issue.

“Only two more guests await! It’s not past three, I hope to get it all sorted out by nightfall,” the king said as he took a sip of tea.

The maid came out with the cakes not much later. Money was thrown around for bets had been made upon which kind the cakes would be.

Not much after that, RMST walked in. He was a man of few words. He only said something unless it was truly important to him. He was also a badass scout. They greeted him, and he also took a seat. “Where’s the pudding??”


As the afternoon drew on, the council began to grow tired. They napped at the table of royalty. Dark had eaten forty-three cakes by the end of the afternoon. Snail commented that he had been preparing for the day ever since he heard the horn earlier that week.

Last but not least, Soulless strode in. “For heaven’s sake, what took you so long?” The king grumbled, “We almost started without you, you know.”

Fazzy said, “Dark can tell you that the cake is gone.”

“I see that he has settled in and is right at home.”

Dark snored on.

“So!” Theo boomed. Dark was startled, and looked around and nodded at Soulless.

“We have a problem.”

“Yeah we know,” Wolf said, “That’s why we’re here.”

“Har har. Set aside the sarcasm please.”

The whole room grunted. This was a sarcastic group. They lived off cracking jokes.

“So! I have called you all here for a purpose. A most powerful weapon has been identified. We have no clue what it is, but it divided our people long ago. We must retrieve this object, before anyone else does.”

Everyone looked around. They had done missions before, but not one that seemed this important. Soulless spoke up, “okay, so we want this weapon of some sort. What do we do with it once we retrieve it? What’s the purpose of this?”

The king responded, “To your first question, we will keep it until we see a need for it. I know there will be a big scuffle soon, and it may unfold in the alps. To your second question, I kind of already answered it. We want this weapon, basically so the Begurthians don’t get it.”

Allen scratched his head. “I feel like this is a greedy and selfish move Theo. We’ve never done something like this before. I feel like if we do get it, it will turn into a war.”

“And that’s the reason why we need it! We need it so we can use it during the war. I didn’t call you guys for nothing. You’ve helped me think, and I think the way we get this weapon, is just us eight go into the alps, so no one else gets hurt.”

Everyone seemed to agree. Snail stuttered, “Well, I’m tired, we should go to bed.”

“Right! I’ll call the maids so we can show you to your rooms. We leave at dawn.”

xD "King Theo the Great" had a great ring to it

 

I am going to have to make 4 chapters for each part of the story I want to emphasize. So I'm thinking around 16-20 chapters

And yes I will try to make them longer, but I get tired and I have a lot else to do too including being in game and my regular life activities. Plus I don't feel I write as well when I do so much of it xD
