    Verified Reporter: Idea

Recently, I have talked to a few staff members on why they do not always answer reports, and it seems that the reoccurring theme is that they get a lot of false reports, that they are not always willing to drop everything at once to go check.

What I am suggesting is a small in-game rank, that comes with no perks, called the Verified Reporter rank.

How do I get this rank? This rank can be applied for on forums, maybe in general or something, and to get this rank, you have to be mature, and send mostly accurate reports actively. Staff would be able to vote yes or no your application depending on if they thing you deserve the rank.

What does this rank entail? With this rank, users would be able to send /reports and /chatreports without cooldown, cooldown can be a bit annoying when there are a lot of hackers on, or toxic players in chat. Also I think it would be cool if there is a star or a sword next to your name in chat (or something). Just some initiative for a player to want to get this rank.

How does this help staff? When a verified reporter sends a report, the report staff see in chat will be a different color, so to stand out from other reports. Also, staff will be able to see this report still, even if they have reports disabled. Lastly, staff will no longer have to stop what they are doing to check a report that could potentially be false.

Let me know your opinions on this. Keep in mind this is just an idea.

Staff do not have the ability of turning off reports that I am aware of. this does seem like a good idea but staff are meant to check reports whenever they can, if not they must be busy with something else that may be important.

Actually, you can turn them off, but I don't recommend it.

JMods can't really deal with reports anyways. Unless of course it's a serious issue and no Mod+ is online, we would try to deal with the issue.

    What about:
    Staff rates all reports:
    - valid
    - weak offense/proof/Neutral.
    - Troll/Pointless.

Staff would then see these stats in chat when they get a report. A player with huge amounts off Troll/pointless ratings could be muted for some amount of time after doing a troll report.

hey, I like it but this wouldn't really fix it. Staff would just ignore regular ones, making it hard to get the rank.

Yes, I really do 100% agree. I think the reason why Mods+ don't react to a report as fast, is because of the amount of false reports there are. If you're like Trogs who likes the community, but don't really care if you get benefits of anything, than this would benefit the server. Also looks great on the JMod application.

This is a good idea in theory, but honestly no one will be willing to take the time to rate reports.

There have been lots of cases where I /report people who are clearly hacking - something like aura, or speed that is very obvious, and after 10 minutes, they still aren't banned. I do /friends and see about 4 MODs online, and a few JMODs, sometimes even an SMOD - So again, I /report, and again, nothing happens. So they either can't be bothered, or every MOD thinks another MOD will do it, resulting it no one answering it, and I end up having to PM a MOD especially to come and ban the hacker, meaning /report is useless.

I think a good way would be if the person who did /report got a message in their chat when a MOD 'answers' the report.

I do like the verified reporter idea. People who know what hacks look like and whats just skill. People like @Lekosa1, @Eil (And other people who have been report champions)

If you want my honest opinion, I feel that a lot of staff members will become so inactive that they will either resign or be demoted. In turn, jmods will take their place, and I've noticed most jmods really truly care about the server and reports in general. The staff team is in a transition period. Back when I first got staff there were many other new staff members as well. Most have resigned or been demoted by now, leaving only a few left. Through my time here this has been the pattern I have noticed. Do I feel there's any reason to be alarmed? No; Brawl is still very low on hackers compared to other big servers. However, do I believe it will be a difficult transition? Yes. As we move over, I expect a lot of newer staff members to expect more and more perks sooner and I'm not so sure that is a good idea, but that's for another thread.

As for your idea, if you're consistently reporting people accurately, are active in all areas of brawl, and are a nice, respectful person, I don't see why this couldn't work. However, if you were all of those things, then I need to question why you didn't just go for staff member yourself. Clearly if you are passing marks in all areas stated above you meet the general requirements for being staff. So while I don't see it hurting to add this, it seems a little unnecessary.

General idea +1. When flame wars break out, generally more than three players are involved, and it can be a bit frustrating waiting for /chatreport to cooldown.

I understand, but one report isn't going to convince a Mod to come investigate. It normally takes multiple reports from different players to really catch a Mod's attention.
Most of the time, when it's just one report, it's just some guy angry from getting killed.
We're especially not going to respond to a report that looks like this, "HAAAAAXXX!!!! BAN THIS MOTHERF***ER!!!"
