Honestly, I agree with the majority of this post. Way back when that "Future of Brawl" thread was began, I knew it would be a lot of work, and I had a feeling there would be problems with current servers not being updated (such as war at the time.) I also agree with the negativity aspect of this. When the community is just being constantly negative, saying "Brawl is dead" etc. it helps nothing, it just makes things worse.

I agree with your proposed path for it, and I really do it is looked at.
Honestly, I don't think selling WarZ should even be considered to be sold. It has one of the major playerbases, and it makes a lot of profit.

Out of curiosity, how much effect do SMods+ have on what Chap ends up doing?

I joined in the beginning of July 2015 and I noticed this ^^ Brawl went from around 700-1100 players (on a regular basis) to rarely hitting over 500 nowadays.

Mojang/Microsoft is never going to get a significant number of people to play Minecraft Realms. The whole concept is stupid and a waste of time (kind of like Minecraft: Educational Edition).

    ^

    Also agreed.

I think that depends on where you are on the forums and who you're dealing with tbh. I spend about 90% of my time in the CTF forums and the community's pretty good there and when there is drama it's (usually) a couple people who go out of their way to be a nuisance. Then again I'm not a staff member so I don't get all that hate and comments like "ermagerd why aren't u doing ur job u lazy fuk" when every little thing isn't perfect on some server (WarZ, for one) so my perspective on the community is going to be a lot different than yours or Roke's or @_featherpaw_'s.

I think Minecraft is (kind of) dying in general. A lot of the big Minecraft YouTubers of when I was really into Minecraft (2011-2014) like the YOGSCAST (probably the most popular Minecraft YouTuber's back then), Antvenom, Captainsparklez have moved on or have declined in popularity themselves. Maybe it's just me but the game doesn't really have an indie feel to it anymore, and that's what made Minecraft (multiplayer) fun for me in the first place. I don't know what you can do about that, if anything.

I used to watch that channel a lot and it's been (comparatively) stagnant ever since BadBoyHalo quit McPVP. New videos get uploaded but they're nowhere near as popular as the older ones BBH and other McPVP staff put out so the channel feels stagnant even if its not.

I don't get why there's as much hate as there is in the first place. Yes, we get it, for the thousandth time Brawl is a tiny server with tiny profits and a imperfect (are any staff perfect?), volunteer staff. What did you expect? This isn't Hypixel or Mineplex, both of whom have active communities many, many, many times the size of Brawl's. You're not going to get rapid fire updates for every sh*tty little server or consistently justifiable mutes/bans. Not happy with it? Go somewhere else, it's a big world out there.

No idea why anyone cares about what Chap has in his CS:GO inventory. It's a ridiculous thing to attack someone on, "hey you're having fun in your free time!" well so are you, you're literally playing on a Minecraft server which he (Chap) is funding. Should he interact with the community more (forums) so everyone has more of a sense of what's going on? Personally I wouldn't mind that at all. It's a completely valid request. But it's his server, his rules so /shrug

When you say "dumb servers" would that include CTF? I can't see how Brawl could be making much of (if any) profits off it even though it's one of the more popular servers these days.

All the other stuff sounds great to me ^^

Minecraft seems to be becoming less relevant imo. Again, I might be wrong because I've been a little out of the loop for the past two years but I'm not seeing the big, thriving communities that were all over the place back in 2009-2014.

Doesn't matter who agree or disagrees. The fact is, it definately is dying, but at a slow rate

Yes. This is what is needed right now. I always thought that you guys need to prioritize over advertisement more than anything right now. More ads = more players = more $$$ = more ads. I do appreciate all the time and work you and the developers spend making gamemodes like slither, wild west, kitpvp 2.0, ect but it doesn't matter that much if we have little to no playerbase for it.

I also think adding help menus or triggers in some gamemodes would help out exponentially on new players trying to get into them. CTF for example, I see many players get frustrated or call out hacks on certain abilities classses have (Ninja invis, assassin instakill, soldier wallclimb, ect) Maybe add info triggers to new players that have problems with them and a useful /help command.
Will brawl be updating to 1.11 soon or sometime in the future? The longer you guys put updating aside the more updates you'll have to go through.

It isn't that bad for a staff member either. I firmly believe it's their outlook on the situation. sometimes party is just as toxic as warz, but keeping a cool head tends to calm them down before a mute. On here is no different. Of course, always reading posts on how party is crud and it's dying and stupid has also made me a much tougher individual.

How about the fact that minecraft overall seems to be less popular and how the servers haven't really been updated while the games that the servers are based off have gotten new games or have been updated with new content.
As well as the fact that a lot of people have gotten older which in turn probably means they have been able to get these games the servers have been based off where they might not have been able to before.
I know that I played war as a substitute for not being able to play cod.

I like so many other players really want to help brawl out. We all want to go back to the old days when Brawl was at its best, but the sad fact is we can't time travel therefore we need to stop looking back at what Brawl used to be. The past contains many a fond memory, but only the future can keep brawl breathing. Look, if I was a new player to brawl and looked on the forums to see all these posts about how brawling dying I would not stay. The fact is people want security. No one wants to join a server where people are saying the game is close to dead, people just don't want to get attached to a server that may not have much life left in it.

Honestly I think players are becoming scared because it seems progress is moving at a very slow pace. I myself have been asking myself how on earth can average players help a server where the future of Brawl rests on the tired shoulders of the developers? The answer I have come to realize is quite simply positivity. The average Brawl player does not have access to the coding, nor are they able to make the highest decisions, but we can provide something truly powerful to the server.

A tree can not survive when the air is poisoned, and when the dirt has turned to rock. Real life studies have shown that people working in a negative environment leads to slow progress and more mistakes. I have to say that the most favorable aspect of Brawl is its community. No it is not a broken community, and no it is not divided. A player doesn't just join Brawl because of its games, they join to be part of something bigger. As of right now there has been quite a lot of negativity flying around leading to arguments and angry posts. Look, why would the staff want to help a server full of people who seem to be turning against eachother? The Brawl staff NEED to know that the players support them.

We the players have a choice to make. Either we continue on this path until Brawl itself turns to dust, or we can start having a positive look at the server. If you really want to help Brawl then we need to stand together. We need to show the entire Minecraft community that Brawl is NOT just another Minecraft server. We are a community. Players, Admins, Senior Mods, Junior Mods, Developers, VIP's, MVP's, ELITES, all make up this community! We cannot save a server of people who want to hide in their rank, no we need to show everyone what Brawl is truly made of! We need to be positive in everything if we want to help this server.

Being positive leads to happiness, which in turn leads to widespread happiness, which leads to productivity, which finally leads to a saved server.

Just remember that Brawl has looked out for you, and now it's your turn to look after it.

I've been keeping an eye on this server during my free time, however as you may have noticed I've stayed completly logged off the forums and the server itself. If it makes anyone feel better, I will make a return to the Brawl Build Team this December, but I will leave again when school resumes, as there are plenty of other things I'd rather be doing with the little free time I have. @Lord_Roke

I've watched the EULA heavily affect Mcpvp and now brawl. I think it's downplayed how hard it is to run a EULA compliant server.

I'd love to buy Mc-WarZ and recode the entire thing. But I don't know who to contact.

SMods have no way of contacting Chap, so none.

Uh, the system should probably be improved past my/someone's PMs. Not up to me.

Would be a question for the Brawl staff.

    Good summary of the OP.

I'm not sure why you would buy something then recode it. The games aren't for sale, so contacting someone isn't a thing unless you have ungodly amounts of money to change Chap's mind.

I'd buy it and recode it so I can have the rights to something that will actually be fixed when it breaks.
