Build Contest: Party!

New year, new owner, new contest! The Build Team is now in charge of build competitions, so we’re going to shake things up a bit. Let’s get right down to business!

First off, we’re going to be making these competitions more regular – they’re now monthly. That’s right, you’ve now got a chance to win a prize every single month!

Secondly, you’ll now be posting your submissions in the Build Showcases subforum. This means that, if you want to, you’ll be able to make a beautiful post showing every part of your build instead of having to squeeze it into one reply on a thread. And don’t forget – by posting there you’ll be in with a chance of winning Builder of the Month! More information here!

Finally, the prizes are going to be a bit different. Since the competitions are more regular the prize money has gone down, but we’ve sweetened the deal by giving you some maps to build on, free of charge! Check it out below.

This month’s contest theme is PARTY MAPS. You’ll be making a map of your choice for our very own Minecraft Party gamemode, so get creative – the possibilities are endless!

There will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Winners will receive special prizes and will be posted in the “Sponsored events” thread under the News & Info shortly after the contest ends.

All entries (teams and their map ID) will be listed in this thread for viewing purposes. This will also make it easier to detect plagiarism.

PRIZES

1st place: $20 to spend in the Brawl store, 3 FREE maps and a sweet contest winner medal!
2nd place: $15 to spend in the Brawl store and 2 FREE maps!
3rd place: $10 to spend in the Brawl store and 1 FREE map!

Also, every single map that is submitted is eligible to become an official Minecraft Party map, for which you will receive a Mapmaker Forum Medal.

Connect to MinecraftBuild.com and type /create to make a map, then get building! If you've used up all your maps, feel free to ask me and I'll give you member perms on a void map.

Once you’re done, head over to the Build Showcases subforum and post a thread using the application form below. Make sure to change your prefix to "Contest Entry"!

You may work in a team of up to a maximum of 3 players, including you. Prizes will be split as equally as possible between teammates. Please also keep in mind that only the builders you mentioned in your application will receive a prize if your build is part of the top 3.

• You will be making a map for any minigame from Minecraft Party. Make sure to read this thread for minigame-specific rules.

• The play area should be around 100x100 in size, and centred around 0,0 where possible.

• [VERY IMPORTANT]: your entry should follow the general Party theme of colourful, basic and fun. Don’t make a super detailed gothic castle courtyard, for example – it may look really nice, but if it doesn’t fit in with the rest of the Minecraft Party maps, it’s not going to stand a chance!

• Plagiarism is not allowed; including copying other players’ builds from other worlds with WorldEdit.

• Do not build anything that would be considered inappropriate or vulgar.

• You may copy old creations that you built previously. Keep in mind that anyone who helped out with them will only receive a prize if they are mentioned in your application.

• Build specific rules and general rules still apply.
