So, I have discussed this with a few members of our glorious raid community over the last few days as the lifetime elite contest comes to a close. My thinking is that the current contest for raid could be re-formatted to fit a monthly contest style. Just simply change the prize from lifetime elite to a month of MVP on raid, or something similar, nothing too OP. Also, to add spice to the event so it does not get bland over months and months, my idea would be to manipulate the point system each month so a different category or mob, or ore is weighed more heavily or less heavily, essentially changing the focus on a month to month basis. For example, this month I believe that your IG balance was weighted most heavily this month at 0.7 per G. In the future, the focus could be on mining, or killing mobs. Weighing those more heavily over gold. Additionally, to ensure that new players are provided a chance on a month to month basis, Gold would be factored in as net gain for that specific month, not total. So those who have accumulated gold over a period months would not have an advantage over new players who started at the beginning of the next month. Finally another idea that it could be based off of team points, and an accumulative team balance. Obviously, rules would have to be set once you are in a team you stay for the month, so the top 8 balance holders or point holders can not automatically win last minute at the end of the month. Please leave your thoughts, criticism and additional ideas below. Note: The reason I suggest this is that it keeps the server competitive, and keeps teams from trucing with each other as they fight for the top spots. (ex. Vanta, Legacy/Hype).

I like the team contest idea but having people mining and grinding all day monthly will go against other factors of the server such as pvp.

Exactly. One month the emphasis is mining, but the next it could be player kills, encouraging players to try all aspects of raid at different points. The format would be similar to this months contest, but as you said it dimishes PVP, a resolution to this would to be increase the base value of a kill from 0.1 to 0.3 or 0.4, but it has to be kept in check because players can just farm kills at spawn.

We started to make the Build contests monthly and now no one participates. How would this differ?

Because people would rather build for gamemodes like party than make a random medieval build?

I was kind of thinking because players are tired of doing the same contest with the same prize. Also, its hard to have multiple contests going on at the same time, in the case of Raid. This is one of the reasons why we decided to not do the Team Wager event on Raid at the same time of the ELITE event.

I think in the case for raid is a little different. In the case of build, you have to build to a specific theme, to my knowledge. This would differ from raid for a few reasons; 1. Essentially anyone who plays raid regularly would accumulate some value of points on a month to month basis, 2. To my original idea of changing the point emphasis on a month to month basis would also keep it somewhat interesting, and would vary different focuses on a month to month basis, 3. After thinking about your question, another potential idea would be to factor in KOTHs into the point system, rewarding the person who caps the KOTH a certain amount of points, this would also create competitiveness in the case of fighting for KOTHs, 4. Additionally there could be planned events through out the month where bonus points would be awarded or 'blitzes', it could be a plug in coded that at random times would spam coords into the chat, and those coords would lead to an area that had blocks or items that would increase your point total, this would also increase the excitement of playing day-to-day, 5. Finally I think the root issue for participation is that in the case of both servers, they posses small player bases. On a final note, I think creating a better reward also could solve the issue of participation, as lots of the most active raid members already have monthly ranks.

To answer this issue, I don't think a side-bar monthly competition would not interfere with the larger monthly or tri-monthly events. As most of these events are planned near the beginning or end of each month I don't think the two would interfere with each other that much.

On other servers they hold daily competitions with a prize of 1day of elite. The competition are like minigames and seem to work great as their player count increases while the event is on. They have an events team to manage and run these events. If you don't already know the server from what I said (which I doubt) a lot of ex brawl staff are on the server and they also released a failed raid gamemode.

(The mini games are different from day to day and most don't require any code or command blocks)

I don't think raid has the player base to support this type of event. It would not be competitiive enough to do every day. Possibly Friday night, Saturday, Sunday when player count is usually higher? On a side note: I don't think one day of elite would be that much of an incentive.

It keeps the player count high on the other server and when you want to set extra warps you would probably get on for it...
But I do see your point

I think the prize/terms of the event would have to vary for them to remain popular.

Good point, and as I have stated earlier I don't think it should be server ranks. I know this is easy for the staff to hand out, but to increase incentive it would have to be something unique that is not obtainable ingame, or something extremely difficult to obtain.

Something I suggested a while ago was to sell events in the shop Eg. Activate the koth
On the other server I mentioned earlier I have sponsored a few events as the prizes weren't too expensive for the size of the event and the staff team were great and able to do the events (the events weren't sold in a shop, it was on agreement that I would purchase an item for the event winner)

Maybe events could be sold at different prices depending on the scale of the event

That is not an awful idea, would just require some dedication from our player base to pledge money, which could be difficult for some but I think this could work for larger scale events. Almost a "wager".
