If you want us to say something just to please you, we won't. We've been saying that your forums post count wasn't high enough. 33 is way too small of a number. I believe I had the least amount of forums posts when I was accepted and I still had 75, but almost all of mine were geared towards raid (the server I was originally going to apply for) and party (the server I eventually did apply for). However, before my application was accepted, I had another one that was denied due to low forums post count. I worked on it and was accepted next time around.

And by the way, if being accepted was just about popularity, I would've been accepted when I last applied, but I was told I wasn't ready yet, even though had been staff before. I know it hurts to be denied, but they're not lying to you. I see now that I wasn't ready to be accepted and I hope you can see that and improve.

oh shoot. Also, to answer your original question of why it seems that people that are more "popular" are accepted, that's normal. If staff didn't know you, why would they trust you with a position of power?

Being popular in the community you're applying for is important. Staff members are ultimately here to make your time on Brawl more enjoyable - if an unpopular one is promoted, then issues will start to happen. Its true - you do need to be somewhat popular to get promoted (in fact, I've been straight up told that if I applied for CTF, I'd be denied for being unpopular over there). However, popularity isn't the only thing that matters.

Regarding how good your app is - the application isn't the only thing that matters, either. I've seen poor applicants with brilliant apps, but that doesn't mean they should just get accepted. Similarly, but not as often, I've seen brilliant applicants with very short and poor apps. Applications don't have to be incredibly long or detailed - as long as they have all the necessary information, they're fine.

And finally, I haven't seen staff members be bias about staff applicants. The closest to bias that I personally think has happened is ex-staff members being handpicked - however, I still think this is fair enough if they were good before and circumstances have not changed. Often, when a lot of mods/team members give an applicant +1s, their chances do increase. However, anyone who can comment on apps is trusted enough to give an unbiased opinion on someone.

Colonel's app was very short compared to most accepted/nearly accepted applicants, but that doesn't mean that (in my opinion) he's a bad applicant. In fact, I think he's one of the better applicants we've had. His short app did set him back a little bit, but based off of his maturity, experience with the gamemode, and prior experience with being a staff member on McPvP, his short app didn't bother me. A detailed application is just a factor that we consider when deciding on applicants - its not a requirement, like forum activity, for example.

Not everyone on the list was widely known by the community or the staff team when they were promoted. I won't name any names even though I'm sure he won't mind, but the first time I ever heard of one of these people were when they applied, and I still gave them a +1 after seeing how they acted a little bit.

Regarding wiki team - yes, that does also help you become a staff member. If you do well in the wiki team, it shows how dedicated you are to Brawl depending on how hard you work there. However, its not required. I wasn't in any of the three teams when I got accepted, and I'm certainly not the only person who can say that.

Also, it wasn't popularity that got people in the wiki team. Everyone in the wiki team speaks with proper grammar; this is the biggest factor for someone to get into the wiki team and it always will be. Also, you should only apply for the wiki team if your sole reason for it is so you can help update the wiki. If you're joining one of the teams because you want a better chance to become a staff member, that's an issue. Its why, when a team member applies for staff, people often ask them how they'll manage being on both teams.

If I remember correctly, your app was not up for anywhere near as long as Graff's has been. That's why he has more views. Perhaps he is also more of a popular player, so people are checking his app more often to view replies and see if his app has been accepted/denied - this is something the community does, its not something we could change.

Locked by user request. In future, use the report feature to notify a staff member so they can do it.

And for the record, I started typing that huge wall of text above before I saw this post. Leaving it up in case it clarifies anything.
