Idea Add more time with no fall damage when grappling

    I've noticed that when I grapple up to a place above me, then jump down quickly and throw my grapple back up, I take fall damage most times. The grapples should have more time without fall damage so players don't die from this.

    You mean, if you make a misplay like falling off of a building you shouldn't be punished for it? I mean, you hit the top of the building, then fell off. That seems entirely fair to me.
    Also, I'm pretty sure the grapple fall damage is based on when you hit the ground, not a timer. Like once you hit the ground, you start taking fall damage again.

    i think it should last as long as the cooldown lasts

    Don't see anything wrong. It was sort of a misplay in my opinion.

    Before the grapples were removed you could grapple up then jump back down without taking fall damage.
    This clip proves that grapples were like this and it wasn't just a misplay. There are probably thousands of other clips like this in videos but I wanted to choose one from my videos because I am being rushed right now.

    For now, that montage definitely changed my opinion, but not fully. So right now my vote is +0 until I have better reasons to make it a +1

    Then in my opinion it's best that it stay the way it is. It forces you to be more careful with how you attack. There were plenty of ways you could have stayed up there (trying to land behind the bard to avoid shots that might knock you off, then positioning yourself so you didn't fall all the way off if you were shot), and making the game less mindless is always a plus.

    I would of positioned myself better if I knew the fall damage would be like that, and I would of stayed on instead of jumping off to my death. Grapples were safer before, and a lot better. The whole point of adding grapples back is to use them to get to higher places easier. I could grapple up a tower, land there for one second, then get pistoled off by a leather and fall to my death. That is unfair and the grapples should be changed to how they were before they were removed with the longer time without fall damage.
    I think that a five second cooldown without fall damage is good, and also you could see the timer going down so you could know if you have enough time to jump down somewhere with or without having fall damage.

    All I was saying was that it's not like in situations like that there aren't any alternatives.

    I suppose the best way to deal with this would be to try to limit the number of spots where that's possible. I haven't played warz in like a year, but I know it wasn't uncommon to see people get shot off of places like sniper tower.
    One way to fix that place in particular would be to remove the fences around the edge, which would make it easier to run in quickly before anyone had the chance to shoot you off.

    I do agree now that it makes sense to have a timer, but it might work if the timer was for how long you'd been on the ground or a certain height above the ground (so people don't just jump spam and stay invulnerable to fall damage) so that if you only tap the ledge like in the first clip, you'd survive, but if you were on for longer then you'd die.

    what is the system for knowing when you have fall damage or not? if its based on the cool down you have a visual counter for both the fall damage and the grapple reset

    It's set as time afaik. It feels like it's ~ 3-4+ seconds but I can't confirm it.
