I have, and I find that it leads to nihilism.

Well, in a Godless universe there is no meaning to life. You may say you create your own meaning. I say that's weak. We have no real purpose. It wouldn't make any difference if the universe collapsed on itself and destroyed everyone and everything. Apparently, it will. Ever heard of the big crunch?

Gehenna, you know that certain truths are true even if you don't like them, right?

I think your biggest problem is you're afraid of a world where there's no God.

It's the problem with anyone. Hell I get scared and really depressed when I think that one day it's gonna come to an end, but I don't lie to myself to feel better.

I just can't comprehend that all this just happened. I can't even comprehend the deist belief of God that He just sat back and is doing nothing for eternity.

So basically you can't understand how the universe/humans came to be, so instead of trying to understand with science, you just turn to a book that claims to have all the answers, but doesn't prove any kind of evidence? smart choice

No. It doesn't, unless you choose that path.
I say that's being strong for yourself, instead of having to rely on the existence of an omnipotent being to make a purpose for you. Just because there isn't a meaning to life doesn't mean life itself isn't beautiful.

why is it weak to make your own meaning

the meaning of life is to have a good enjoyable life. nothing else
not to serve god, not to serve others, not to be a people pleaser...
its to have a fun life.

i dont believe in god and i can still enjoy life.

well its called the big bang THEORY for a reason

then again, at least it has some plausible evidence backing it up, palpable or not...

Science doesn't give meaning, unless it's some passionate creed of yours. It just gives an understanding of how everything happen, not why. Science doesn't really amount to anything either, because it will all disappear when we do.
Everything you do is actually all for nothing, because in the end, you'll end up back where you were before you were born, a limbo where you can't see, hear, smell, feel, or think.
If I was a nihilist, I'd say that's kind of religious of you guys.

But, anyway, all you can really do is make the best for yourself. Why be the kid on the left, when you can be the kid on the right?

It seems like your main problem with evolution and the Big Bang theory is that you don't like how they sound, not that they're not actually true. Would that be accurate?

Also I am 100% the kid on the right :v

Of course that's accurate, you have no proof of God, only faith. You choose to bieleve in that over evolution/the big bang because you rather the former be true.

I don't blame you. I rather there be a god aswell.

So why are you going on about how terrible it would be if creationism was a lie?

When have I implied that? It wouldn't really be terrible. It'll just be, "Screw everyone and everything. I'm just going to live my life and do anything that can benefit me, no matter what it may be, because one day, I will die and be no more."

I just realized Buddhism seems nihilistic. It's said that the world is an illusion and you shouldn't be attached to it. Perhaps a nihilist can achieve nirvana.

Well what you're describing sounds terrible to me.

And I just want you to realize how silly you sound. You're saying that atheism results in a selfish nihilistic view.

Have you not noticed the atheists on this thread, such as myself, who don't hold these views? It sounds like you're trying to say that not believing in God leaves to these views but I don't know any atheist who thinks like that and I know a lot of atheists.

Can you acknowledge that becoming an atheist doesn't mean your entire perception of morality has to change? I believe in helping people and making my life meaningful yet I'm an atheist, so why can't you do the same?

Athiests can bieleve in a form of karma and positive energy. I suggest not putting us all into the same box

It doesn't have to. A nihilist can have a family and socialize with others.

I don't see any meaning to it, as a nihilist. Though, being nice to people can benefit you.
As a Christian, being nice to people pleases God, and you should strive to please God. I know this one of the things Christopher Hitchens pointed out about Mother Teresa in an attempt to tarnish her reputation. "She only did nice things to please God." When I do nice things, most of the time I don't have God on my mind. It just comes naturally. When I avoid an opportunity to do something nice, I feel kind of guilty afterwards. Perhaps this is a Christian imposed feeling. I feel if I was a nihilist, I wouldn't feel guilty. Maybe I wouldn't feel guilty about anything. Perhaps guilt is just an illusion.
I don't know. Maybe this whole me being a nihilist is the result of me being mindbroken into being an atheist. Maybe it's the depression that emerges from realizing your beliefs are false and your life is a lie.

The common excuse I see why most atheists are not nihilists is "you make your own meaning", which I've said before is a pretty weak excuse. It seems to me you guys want meaning, which seems to me to be the root of religion, craving meaning.

    This is pretty interesting. https://richarddawkins.net/2013/04/why-identify-as-atheist-and-not-nihilist/
The first comment has a pretty mushy excuse for meaning in life.
"What you do impact others and your environment. You’re the product of billions of years of evolution, and if you are lucky, you will be survived by your genes. And maybe you even contributed towards the betterment of life on earth in your own way."
Sounds similar to something Buddha would say.
