As much as we complain about Brawl's progress, poke fun at players/staff, and make rude comments about the server I think we can all agree that we'd like to see it progress past its current stagnated state. Lately I've seen far more constructive criticism and ideas from the community than I did in the past year and I'm sure it's because the community has come to realize that they're the backbone of Brawl. Without the community's approval and help anything Brawl does is guaranteed to fall flat. We're the reason why Brawl hasn't completely died off. But to further Brawl's progression there needs to be a willingness to change. Things may not always work out as planned but without making an effort to try something different you can expect the same results.

What I'm getting at is Raid's current state. The player count is primarily made up of its older player base and it's rare to have a new member join our community. While many people believe that advertising is the greatest wonder of the world it's nothing more to fathom than any other tools used to succeed. A great analogy: a water pipe. You can force all every drop of water possible through it but pressure will only build if you create disruption. The disruption is our ability to get new players to willingly stay and the pressure is Brawl's community.

So before I run off to class:
    • What changes could we make to encourage new players to stay?
    • Is there anything you can single handedly do to help build the community?
    • What future changes could we agree on to make the server more enjoyable?
    • What could we do to further strengthen our current community?
Lets avoid any sort of clowning, attention seeking, or flaming on this thread!

    • What changes could we make to encourage new players to stay? Better tutorial, maybe a room like on WarZ
    • Is there anything you can single handedly do to help build the community? Apply for staff . Start more community projects like the arena.
    • What future changes could we agree on to make the server more enjoyable? Remove Team Cap. Make changes to KOTH. Add XP bottles. Teach noobs how to track.
    • What could we do to further strengthen our current community? Uhm, no clue.

I believe the changes need to be more extensive than having a better tutorial. You still get the occasional player who's completely oblivious to what tracking is because they simply don't know the definition of it. Instead of posting signs that say 'tracking tutorial' and so on it might be useful to catch new players' attention by making a simple code with a noise that delivers +1 hour into the game which warns them of dangers and links them to an entertaining tutorial video. If Raid's able the hook a player this would help snag them.

I like the idea of community projects which goes hand in hand with strengthening the community. I'm not sure how extensive our staff can be with irl and ig things but it'd be encouraging to see more events and possibly the encouragement of events *some bias here*. I'd also love to see server contests besides KOTH to become the normal. Simply copying and pasting a tower around spawn for players to climb for some sort of loot would make the server far more interesting. Back in 1.7 Putty, Chap, Andy, ect. use to make roller coasters around which is the prime reason I stuck around the server. It seemed far more community related when the higher staff and community use to mess around for the shear fun of it.

As was pointed out in the previous thread I believe a negotiation on removing the team cap would be beneficial. Most players seem to desire the removal of it and personally I'd like to see Matt's idea of a team getting 1 KOTH key implemented since it could either make or break a team. Beyond the single key I'd also like to see a few more checks and balances. XP bottles would also be a nice addition as it's been recommended in many threads.

I've heard that the lag's primarily due to Raid's past coding? If true I'd like to see a revamp of it in the future if Brawl's piggy bank and willingness allows for it.

I really like these ideas. I'll bring this up to the staff team and see what they say

Get better staffs who don’t do anything or help out the community.

    • What changes could we make to encourage new players to stay? Advertise on different servers and make more gamemod in brawl.
    • Is there anything you can single handedly do to help build the community? Me Apply for staff. I can advertise from servers to get more people on.
    • What future changes could we agree on to make the server more enjoyable? Change “raid” back to the old spvp.
    • What could we do to further strengthen our current community? Better staffs. Less toxic people.

Just recently staff had pushed for the server to get fixed after a recent bug kept crashing the server (thanks Mario or whichever wizard fixed it). I've also had a few staff members ask about pushing a future goodie forward which is very likely to progress. The main flaw to poke at is transparency which many community members would agree has been the biggest issue between staff and players. Sometimes the lack of transparency gives off the image of staff lazing around or not caring when it may be the lack of funds or future projects. And I can't speak on behalf of your's and Carnotauros' enthusiasm for becoming staff since I'm not on enough to see you guys but until you become staff there are still things you guys can help out with such as the organised poll Carnotauros made and giving constructive doable suggestions to improve the server. It's good to keep in mind that most things that are added are resource/code intensive for Brawl and are therefore limited.

I don't know if I'd particularly advertise on other servers since it can be counterproductive but Minecraft forums and YouTube always has a few people of people asking for online Survival servers. I've found them to be the easiest target and the most responsive. If you search around they're likely to be your most effective option.

'Change Raid back' is one of the most frustrating recommendations I see people give... no anger directed. But Survival's prime time was due to Brawl's 'golden' age after McWar, WarZ, and Party took off. Once the interest in those three servers started to descend Survival/Raid stopped getting as much attention as well. The only way to return it back to normal would be for Brawl to get another hit gamemode but that's extremely difficult to do with the saturation of servers and limited player base. To get attention Brawl would need a gamemode that really stuck out and struck an addiction nerve for players to take notice.

    ???
How would advertisement encourage new players to stay?
Brawl should focus on improving their current gamemodes instead of making new ones. New gamemodes require a lot of work and often don’t work out at all. Take Battle Royale as an example.
Why would you need staff to advertise?
Changing the name would certainly not make the server more enjoyable. Also, the name “Raid” draws in more players than the name “Survival PvP” since there are many mcpvpers that look for a raid server.
