So I got to work on a build that I will eventually use to apply for the build team with. I did all the terraforming myself. Any suggestions on what I could do better. (This is all done in one day and isn't close to finished, just want to see what suggestions people have so I can apply it to the rest of the build.) 2018-01-04_20.59.57.png 2018-01-04_21.00.04.png 2018-01-04_21.00.13.png

The castle looks good, it’s not flat, it has frames, that’s good. On the towers’ top I don’t understand why there’s redstone, it just doesn’t look good.
If it’s to power the iron trapdoors just know you can as well copy a powered iron trapdoor and paste it alone. As long it isn’t prone to block update (just don’t place anything next to it after you have pasted it), it will remain in that position even without redstone.

As for the terraforming, I am not the best on it but I wouldn’t suggest using world edit. Ask more experienced terraformists.

Good luck with the Build and your future app!

^^ with terraforming, I would only use WE to make the base shape so you dont have to click a lot, then the main shape would be mainly hand built cuz that gives the best detail and gives you more control over what you want to make. The use of WE would only make the mountains lose its shape and some of its rockiness in general, and I feel like there can be more variation in height.

As for the castle, I think it looks pretty cool except the shape could be improved more and could be much more complex. idk how to explain it but some of the details look slightly off (the entrance bit). I really like the corners though, I like the use of iron trapdoors you used there c:

There are many more good points in your build but I feel like it's more important to focus on the negatives c: cool idea and build overall^

Terraforming looks alright. It doesn't look like World Edit though; did you use Voxel Sniper? Try to avoid sharp corners and long straight lines, as they make terrain look unnatural. Never use World Edit percentages to color terrain (such as 70%2,30%35:5). It might look good at first glance, but really is not. Here's a quick tutorial for coloring terrain:
. Also I see you made the outside terrain just to engulf the castle, and to make it look more of a whole build when viewed outside. I'm personally not a fan of that technique, since the terrain looks too artificial, rather than natural (like it would have always been there). To fix this you can make it less symmetrical by adding height differences and parts jutting out. And as others have mentioned, don't use WE for terrain shaping.

For the castle, I can see you have your own style going on which is nice. I suggest adding a foundation (you'll have to expand the part the castle is on for that) and working on depth since your walls and towers are quite flat. And as Sheep said, try to make your shape more complex by add parts that are on different y and z- coordinates from the "main build". The parts can be cuboid, round, vertical — whatever you want, as long as they're harmonious with eachother. When building, remember to keep all areas the same style. For example, now that you're doing a greatly fantasy build, don't include normal trees and stuff. Also as Nick said you don't have to have the redstone in the build, as you can just remove it with WE. The trapdoors will stay as they are unless a block touching them is updated.

Tips for the future: Make sure to try out all styles and go outside of your confort zone. If you're only going for Builder (rather than actually being passionate about building as a whole) I suggest working mainly on realistic architecture, trees and terrain, since Brawl doesn't have fantasy needs.

First, I really like the block choice and style of the castle. But it looks a bit too "4x symetry". I personally love symetry, but most people don't seem to like copy paste very much. If do like one tower higher, or change the shape of the castle (even keeping the same walls) you won't get this kind of remarks.
    Good luck for your map!

Hm, I didn't know I could do the copy paste thing with trap doors, i'll definitely mess around with that. the only reason I used redstone was because it fit in the pallet and would hold the trap doors, I didn't like the way it looked either but it seemed to be the only way, thanks for letting me know .

Yea, I usually like to use voxel, but I see where you're coming from. I think I'll re do it but in world painter because I like the mountains I can create on there.

About the entrance, i'm not to fond of it either, I think i'm gonna tweak it a bit because it does look odd to me aswell. Thanks for the advice

Thanks for the advice, I did use voxel to create the main bit but smoothed it out with WE and voxel together. I specifically made the terrain the way it is so that the castle would look like it's sitting on a hill like that, that's also why the castle is very uniform and square. I may trash the build and work on a new type of build that is more like what you're talking about. With varying heights and all that. Appreciate your words of advice .

I explained why I did this in the reply above, but yea, I made it so it looked like the castle was almost build into the mountain, still would work on the terrain around it to make it look more natural but yea, that's where I was coming from on that.
