When the new map was announced I was happy to see that Wild West had not been forgotten. But then I decided to take a closer look at it, and in my opinion it's not better than the current map.
Here's why: The new map seems to be aimed at making the map smaller, so the locations are closer to each other. But the current map's size is fine in my opinion. Sure, it might take longer for new players to get around using their pony, but that also motivates them to earn money so they can afford a faster horse. And yes, there are some examples where it's just too far away (Coco field..) but that could easily be fixed by updating the current map. Rebel bases like Shrooms and Tobacco are perfect for new players because they are close to town.
The new map also has new Rebel Bases, they are all unique, but some of them are just not 'bases'. The new WildGrass base (the current WG cartel) for example is small, very open and exposed, and has low walls, and this is not what a base is suposed to be, a base should be defendable and people should be able to sneak into bases.

    So, what should happen instead?
I think that it would be better to update the current map, reworking locations that need an update, and moving certain fields closer to the Rebel Base. Reworking doesnt have to mean small changes, the reworks can be pretty big, such as changing the whole design of a certain rebel base, but not a whole new map.
I would also like to mention the way the new map was built. The map was built by members of the community, not just staff, but regular players too. And I like that, but this also means that there are different building styles which arent always of the best quality. What I think would be better is to have players come up with ideas for the map on MCBuild, and if it's good it can be used, or edited.

Ps: This thread is only about the map, I am not saying things such as a reset should or shouldnt happen.

Please let me know what you think, this is just my opinion.

I would also like to say that everyone who worked on the new map did a good job, I just dont think the way this was organized was the best way.

I already said something similar in my thread, I think that adding the new map that Hitchens said it's almost complete (it isn't at all imo) wouldn't help in anything but could even kill some player base.

Also the point of buying speedied was good, didn't think about it.

If I had the WW map I could rework it in a day tbh, it's not that hard.

I completely agree. I liked some of the designs for the new map; new fields and even some of the bases. some.
But I think for a new map, the main things that should change are the things that are problematic. Not changing the looks.
I'm not saying the new buildings are bad, but more so that the locations of buildings etc should be worked out as well. They did a good job, but they just left some things out. That being said, I'm excited to see the update coming to wild west.

They moved the cartel to the original rebel base spot and moved the rebel base closer to town.

Then someone misinformed me. And the base shouldn't be much closer to town anyway, since there's already 2 towns nearby.

It was also planned for Shaniko* and Harshaw*, I think, to have no bandit pvp enabled.

    Would be harshaw and shaniko

Ellsworth and frisco would be the competetive towns, but that's just and idea.

Don't talk about stuff you dont know anything about. As former staff you should know how annoying people who have strong opinions when they dont know **** are. And especially when the issue, like in this situation, is one we staff can not speek openly about, and thus not bust the falsehoods.

You know very well that fadaad withdrew his application (and didnt even get denied) and the reason for pyros denial was very much valid, but as you aren't staff now, I can not tell you what it was.

There are goods and bads in this project, as human nature everyone will never agree to one thing sure, after talking with someone about the project he told me the flaws in them, and I have to admit I agreed with them.
Let's name some cons and pros of this (and anything mentioned will be added):
    Pros:
    New fields
    New town design (partly)
A little better for new players

    Cons:
    New mines
    Smaller map (to a degree)
    Inconsistent styles
New bases (due to lack of space and to many 3 block high walls, that's what I was told)
New towns (I was told it was unorganized and that a street thing should be add (slabs, stairs etc))

Let's not turn this into an argument, just a mature debate about this, and hopefully it will make a change.

Yeah I must say community feedback has been very usefull. What you said is a pretty good conclusion of it. Just add mines, and possibly the unconsistant styles to the cons list.
