u kinda just made it worse by making this thread, this forum is full of underaged kiddos & memers that are unable to maturely discuss a subject like this. now we're talking about this anyway, I'm an atheist. evolution is proven.

So if you believe that god can do anything, sure, you're gonna answer every counter argument with it, but I hope that you do understand that some of us prefer to believe in observable things (physics here) and be quite surprised to see such obstinacy to make a world fit your beliefs.

Edit: Where is it even stated in the bible that god can transcend the speed of light?? Sounds quite unlikely to me.

There's hell in a ton of religions, know that even being christian, you'll still have thousands of religions telling you you're gonna suffer eternally when you die. Would you believe in each one of them so you don't go to hell?

it's really disappointing that everyone feels the need to attack Christians, like myself, who are enlightened enough to understand that there is a God

Why is there no ratings? That little "funny" thing really itches me right now ...

"The Enlightenment included a range of ideas centered on reason as the primary source of authority and legitimacy, in opposition to the fixed dogmas of the Roman Catholic Church. The Enlightenment was marked by an emphasis on the scientific method, along with increased questioning of religious orthodoxy."

If Pascal's Wager was a game of roulette it'd be like betting on every number on the board.

Wait, so God can move faster than the speed of light. Let's for a minute, say I believe this. I don't, but I'll go along with it.

My problem was that since light can only move 300,000 m/s and some stars are quadrillions of quadrillions of miles away, their light cannot reach us within 6,000 years. Yet we can see them. You're telling me that God can move faster than the speed of light. OK, sure, but I'm talking about billions upon billions of LIGHT RAYS, individual photons that are moving a gajillion times faster than should be possible. Is God making them move super-fast for any particular reason? Cause the only effect is that it makes the universe seem billions of years old. Is he trying to trick us? I don't get the motivation.

Regardless, nothing moves faster than the speed of light. I only have a very basic understanding of relativity but I think objects moving at the speed of light have infinite mass or some other impossible properties. Your game console metaphor is nice and I suppose it IS possible that there could be a higher being (i.e. God) who exists in a different plane of the universe from us, and therefore is unbounded by the laws of physics. I mean, the laws of physics are supposed to be unbreakable but I suppose it's POSSIBLE there could be a way to break them in other dimensions or something... idfk... but the point is that I need EVIDENCE that such a thing happens. Y'know?

I get we're back to square one which is I'm looking for EVIDENCE so unless there's something new I might just take my leave here.... unless/until someone else says something moronic in which case I shall return and call them dumb

    bai

    speaking of...
tbh it's really disappointing that Christians feel the need to impose their religion on others, bully gay people, burn people at the stake for dissenting, etc.

No but you don't understand see God is stretching out the heavens and that makes things that are only 6000 years old look like they've been around for 13 billion years because Jesus.

Are you serious? I don't understand how you can be so ignorant to generalise a whole religion and say they all hate gays, there are multiple types of Christianity just like there are multiple types of Islam (extremists etc.). I'm not a Muslim or a Christian (used to be but not anymore), I also know multiple Christians and none of them hate gays, just because it says in the Bible or whatever doesn't mean every Christian hates them. It's like saying every Muslim is a terrorist, only a small proportion of followers of Islam (extremists) would think about performing a terrorist attack, even some Muslims think extremists such as ISIS aren't even true Islam followers.

So because someone believes in a different way of living to you they are automatically retarded. "The whole god thing was created so people don't freak out and stress out" where did you get this information from? That's complete bs, aren't you meant to be 17 and you are this uninformed about religion?

Again, there are virtually none Christians that bully gay people and burn people at the stake for dissenting. I see lots of atheists bullying gay people but because they're the majority, nothing is said. Sigh, not many Christians feel the need to impose their religion on others, however I do feel that Gehenna_Beam is here and I don't think it's very nice.

Honestly find the replies to this thread hilarious because I learnt most of this stuff when I was about 10.

I could care less about if people have beliefs in any religion or faith. What I do care about is when it brought up non-stop and gets a bit annoying to hear after it has been said a million times over, I get your faith is strong in believing in your religion but bringing it up non-stop to people who do not believe in a faith or religion will annoy them and probably will cause more than half of the insults thrown.

That is my opinion on that don't know if that is rude or not to say but it is just what I think about the entire thing.

    OK what is this lol
I don't Xion meant that ALL christians hate gays, but if there's one group in the US who has consistently pushed against gay rights, it's Christians. And while homophobia being in the Bible doesn't mean all Christians are homophobic, it does mean Christianity is homophobic.

The whole God WAS created so people a) don't freak out about dying and b) can understand how their world works without science as well as maybe c) to use it as a tool to control people. What do you think the Greek myths are? It's the ancient Greeks trying to come up with explanations for how their world works before the advent of modern science. Christianity is the same.

This last paragraph is just soooooooo moronic I can't handle it. Virtually no Christians who bully gay people? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go to evangelical heartland in Alabama and tell everyone you're gay and see what happens. This next sentence is even stupider "atheists bullying gay people but because they're the majority, nothing is said". Well

    a) Atheists are much less homophobic than Christians (source: Pew's Religious Landscape Study)
    b) Atheists aren't the majority... lol... open atheists make up about 4% of America's population, although there are many closet atheists.

It seems to me like you've been given this rosy worldview of Christianity where no Christians ever impose their religion on others or act in a homophobic way, which is blatantly false. 38% of Christians in the US think being gay is wrong/should be discouraged. A plurality are against gay marriage. Atheists are overwhelmingly for gay rights.

As for pushing your religion on people... how do you think Christianity spread lol? Ever heard of the Crusades? Inquisitions? Burning heretics at the stake? Conquistadores converting every Native American in sight? Missionaries going to Africa and basically telling the natives their culture is crap and they've gotta follow Jesus? Not to mention how basically every child of every Christian ever has been taught Christianity by their parents... That's not free choice, that's your parents deciding your religion for you, and well before you're ready to understand the world. A 6-year-old can no more be a Christian than they can be an astronaut. They're just too young.

dammit why do people have to say such stupid sht so it makes me wanna respond lel

I'm not American either, but atheists aren't the majority anywhere and Christians aren't exactly fond of gays in most places. Where ya from?

well of course you don't think Christianity is anti-gay. You go to a nice church. Good for you. But you gotta look past that and see the homophobia in a lot of christianity

It doesn't literally say He can go beyond the speed of light. It just says He can do anything.
Has it ever crossed your mind that most everything we know about the universe, our calculations, our laws maybe wrong or just the tip of the iceberg?
I always wonder what the angels use and how they get between Heaven and Earth. Do they get to the Earth via spaceship-like things, or do they get to the Earth via a "Bifrost-like" device, like from Thor.
During the Final Judgement when Heaven's Army is deployed to destroy the antichrist's forces, I highly doubt they're going to use bow and arrows and swords. I believe they will use weapons that contain the power of the sun and possibly anti-matter weaponry.
