    Could you link me to the appeal please (in PMs preferably)? This looks like it could break protocol, not entirely sure though unless I can see what the appeal said.

    We're supposed to deny appeals that aren't made by the banned player if they are asking for another chance (i.e, admitting to hacking and saying they won't hack again), as it doesn't show if the banned player is sincere or not. However, we're not told to deny appeals disputing a ban simply because someone else made it. That being said, we're not explicitly told we can't, just that we don't have to.

    In my opinion, appeals made by friends could cause multiple appeals to be made for the same ban, meaning there's even more appeals we have to go through. It makes a lot more sense for the banned player to appeal the ban - it's almost like someone's friend showing up at a court case to defend someone. It's not really necessary for other people to appeal - you're more than welcome (and encouraged) to help someone else appeal their ban, but it's not necessary to appeal it for them.

    You shouldn't assume so much. The staff member who denied the appeal could have just denied it saying the ban is correct if they wanted to, and no-one would have batted an eye. Not to mention, in the deny reason the staff member even put the ban was correct, so they're not afraid to claim that they're in the right with banning.

    If you're trying to make staff members want to help out the community and, more specifically, help out you and your friends, this is the worst attitude you can have. Trust me, for the whole of 2015 I had the exact same attitude and achieved nothing - since then I have changed my attitude and am influencing the staff team much more now. You could do the same.

    It's no secret whatsoever that staff members are given more trust than regular players. Staff are already trusted with more things than a community member is trusted with (and should be, unless you suggest staff should lose the ability to ban - or, better yet, community members should be given the ability to ban). Staff members are obviously given a certain level of trust in order to have all the permissions they do have, so it's easier to trust a staff member's word than it is to trust a community member's word.

    Agreed with this. Snail's password was incredibly weak and it's worrying if staff members are getting away with this level of account security. Not sure exactly if Snail was punished for this (we get major warnings if we mess up badly, it doesn't always go straight to a demotion especially if it was a mistake), but it's worrying if staff could get away with it.

    Considering that there are servers where mods are specifically told to NEVER join a certain other server (Badlion has/had a server blacklist), I think that the way Brawl deals with account security issues is more than tame, it's nuts.
    One of the servers I used to moderate has an owner who had his account hacked 2 times - he had all of his commands and access revoked for 6 months by the other owner and one of the admins.

    Brawl has had quite a few instances of account security causing damage - the most recent case was when Doxera hacked Putty (although the kid had so much access that he might have been able to shut down Brawl for a few weeks, he didn't manage to because he was stupid). Snail got hacked, Feather got hacked, lots of things have been hacked. Not seen enough done against that kind of thing.

    Regarding friend appeals - imagine if someone is banned in-game and does not have access to the website due to whatever reason (bad ISP, strict parents, whatever). What does he do then?

    No - what I mean is some ISPs block certain websites due to names etc.

    They can email us or come on teamspeak (or discord) or use google translate as proxy.

    They can find the teamspeak IP in chat and on our website. If they can not access that, they can use a vpn to bypass the block, or use an alternative account.

    how can appealing for someone else even work in the first place lol

    the entire point of an appeal is being from the person banned isnt it...

    if you're banned on the forums you aren't able to log out of your account, you're permanently logged in to the account you're banned on and can do nothing to change it. only way you can change accounts is by going on to another computer to sign in

    So typically a staff member can lie and get away with it without knowing just cause typically a staff members word is worth more than the communities word, got it! The ban was incorrect due to the player actually taking KB even though his ban was no-kb, sorry that you're so simple minded you can't see that you've falsely banned someone and not only that in every appeal i've made from day one I never get any sort of breaking down on my proof it's a simple "Denied." Any staff member can simply put denied and not explain why which seems quite pointless. I've done my best to get staff members to help the community and yes, there are still some good staff members but there's always rogue staff members who really don't care considering there rarely seems to be any sort of punishment if you've been staff for a while. I'm not going to throw anyone under the bus but there's a few people I have in mind. "could have just denied it saying the ban is correct if they wanted to, and no-one would have batted an eye" that's actually quite EXACTLY what happened except i bothered making a thread cause brawl's nothing but constant failure from it's staff and that's what's ruining it. I do care about certain staff members considering i'm friends with a few and i'm still friends with a lot of ex-staff members who honestly share similar POV's with me. I just don't care about the corrupt staff members who think they're untouchable and honestly for the most part they are untouchable.

    This is where if the communities word was trusted more than staff, you would be unbanned. Anyone can vouch that you're not cordinating but oh well I guess you can't trust the community as much as the corrupt staff members!

    Clear your catch and/or browser history and you'll be logged out. You aren't logged in when you use google as proxy.

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but you seem to have a mod tag... Why are you very blatantly ignoring @Xion as if he does not matter? I think we are all waiting for your response to the actual thread... Most people would have gotten a warning for posting unrelated information and basically spam on a thread after posting what you have been posting. Guess you don't really care about that do you? You have an option to PM people for a reason.
    @13kss would you politely answer his question instead of pretending its not there?
