If we based our laws off of a book written 2,000 years ago, society would fall into chaos. You don't seem to grasp the basic concept that society can change in a matter of days, let alone millennium. If we based our laws off the Bible, homosexuality would be punishable by death.

Funny you say that when we are going back to hedonistic laws that were tolerated about that time period. Look, I don't want gays executed, nor do I want their cause to be applauded. If we were still in Old Testament times, then homosexuals would be in trouble, but we aren't anymore. Jesus cleared our vision and gave us new hope for the world and all those living in sin. We're suppose to lead souls to Jesus, not condemn them to Hell.

If two lesbians/gays are married but are devout christians who pray and bieleve everything they need to are they going to go to heaven? Lets's say they know they're actively sinning but going along doing it anyways.

You reject science. The majority was taught to believe in supernatural. The idea of a non supernatural reality is new. For thousands of years people only believed in gods or spirits. That's why.

That's a tough one. I'm not entirely sure. To achieve salvation, one must repent. To repent is to "feel or express sincere regret or remorse about one's wrongdoing or sin". There's so many ways you can believe in Jesus. Only one way is right.
Since they know what they are doing is wrong, it will cause strain in their marriage and may eventually lead to a divorce and a change in lifestyle.
Another thing that might happen is they may disregard austerity and practice carnalism.
Not everyone is taught to believe in such things. They come to realize it themselves or create their own. There have always been atheists. The Bible even talks about them briefly.

I guess the counter argument would be that as you say, all humans are constantly 'sinning', and are consciously aware of what they're doing. Let's be honest, with the way the rules in the bible are set up, everyone is 'Sinning' on the daily And if all sin is equal I don't see how that would be different from the gay/lesbian couple.

Does the Bible cover polition, guns, nuclear bombs, shootings, and other nasty ****? No? Then it is irrelevant. Don't put your trust in a book thousands of years old. People go crazy. They probs hear a voice in their head and think that's supernatural. You are not smart @Gehenna_Beam

We're not all sinning constantly. There are times when Christians are not sinning. Non-Christians, on the other hand, are sinning constantly. Every nanosecond you're not a Christian is a blasphemy against God.
Not those things per se, since guns and nuclear bombs haven't existed yet, but the Bible does talk about violence and killings and spiritual pollution, which isn't any different from physical pollution in the eyes of God.

Question - does God hate sin?

If the answer is Yes (I assume it is) then why is it our problem that we're sinning? I don't personally have any problem with my "sinful" actions, it's God who takes issue with them. So it's up to him to go up to me and say "hey dude, stop that". For him to not stop me or attempt to stop me and then condemn me to eternal damnation is just pettiness and a lack of willingness to easily fix the problem.

And no you can't say "well God told you to stop sinning via Jesus and the Bible" because there is no more evidence to support the truth of the Bible than there is the Qur'an or the stories of the Greek Gods. It's impossible to choose the right one and please everyone.

Essentially God is like a dictator who writes a law "no one is allowed to use the letter E" and doesn't tell anyone about it. He hires a crazy guy to go tell people about it but no one believes him (obviously). What kind of numbnuts dictator would make such a law? And then when people inevitably use the letter E, he gets angry and throws them in jail. But apparently he's still a loving dictator, even though he made up arbitrary rules and didn't tell anyone about them in a logical way and then punished people for not obeying the laws he didn't tell anyone about.

And another thing - GOD DESIGNED US. And we are sinful beings. You have said that all humans sin, it is impossible not to. So essentially, the idea of sinful behaviour is implanted in our DNA along with our traits (sex drive, hunger, curiosity, etc.). So God MADE us sinful. He made us sinful BY DESIGN. And then he tells us "DON'T BE SINFUL" but as you said, we're all sinful by nature so this is an impossible demand. And then he throws us in Hell for being sinful, which is exactly how he designed us to be? And the only way to get out of this retarded loop is to believe in a book and a faith for which there is no evidence? No thanks.

Me: *programs a little robot to pick stuff up and drop it*
Robot: *picks up a coffee cup, drops it*
Me: HOW DARE YOU DO THAT! THAT IS WRONG
    Me: *sets fire to Robot*

in this scenario I am God and the robot is humanity. He literally programmed us to be sinful and then is somehow upset/angry when we're sinful? This could all make sense if a) there were any proof of God existing in the first place and b) we agreed that God is flawed and immoral and unjust. But there is ZERO proof for God and you continue to push this moronic notion that God is the kindest being in existence. A just and moral God doesn't condemn people to eternal suffering for the way they are.

And while I'm on a roll, what the f--k is this notion of a personal God you have? i.e. a God who actually listens to and answers your prayers? To me this is 10,000x more implausible than a non-personal creator, which is far-fetched to me as well. And not only that, the fact that you believe in this says a lot about you as an egotistical d--khead. You think that God cares about your problems but doesn't take the time (and he is timeless...?) to fix the problems of the hundreds of millions of people starving to death right now?

Imagine praying to God is like being in an emergency room in a hospital, waiting for a doctor to arrive. You're there with your dog who is slightly sick because it ate some chocolate. You ask for a doctor. Next to you is a child who is LITERALLY STARVING TO DEATH and he asks for a doctor. Within an hour or two, a doctor arrives and fixes your dog and discharges you. And he doesn't even help the child who is starving to death. He just leaves him there. The child dies. Now consider this:

    - The clinic/doctor is in reality an all-powerful God who has unlimited time and resources with which to fix things - these are no constraints
    - For the idea that you get your insignificant problem solved while a poor child starves to death to be morally consistent you have to believe that a) you are more important, to God/the doctor or b) your problem is more important. Well b) is clearly wrong so it must be a). That means that your moral and just God thinks that you are more worth saving than the poor kid just because they aren't Christian. Imagine if this was a human doctor?

To examine the morality of God I like to consider his actions as if they came from a human. God only saves those who hold a specific belief (believing in him) so what if there was a human doctor who only saved people who were communists? An edgy 19-year-old communist could come in and get some pills for his flu and he'd be fine but a poor little kid who barely knows what communism is - he doesn't get saved simply because of a view he hasn't been properly exposed to. How is that moral? It isn't, and it shouldn't be when God does it.

On that point, God is the most authoritarian ruler humanity has ever seen. He can read our minds, he can see the future, he has arbitrary and invasive laws and he demanded love and belief otherwise the punishment is immense. This guy is worse than Hitler, Stalin and Mao put together. Why is his behavior acceptable simply because he's a higher being? Why do so many Americans who get an erection every time they hear the word "liberty" or "freedom" give themselves over to laws and rules and systems of justice that they never voted on, or had a say on, and would probably never agree to if they hadn't been raised in such systems from birth? It makes no sense. If God were real, it would be like living in 1984 - so why are so many people who love freedom and democracy giving themselves over to this authoritative higher power? Use your common sense people!

God did not make us sinful. We were made to be good. It's not God's fault we chose to be sinners. We may have been given the gift of free will, but freedom can be abused. Abuse of free will was never intended.

God is good all the time, and everything He does is good. A child dying is indeed terrible, but there has to something good that came out of it. You seem to lack a great perception of good. You must seek the good in all situations.

Of course. God loves even nonbelievers. Some gods, such as Allah, hate nonbelievers. That's not something I made up. I read that from a Muslim website.

Why? What are you implying? Should we hold the defectors down and force them to stay? No.

XDXDXDXD. You are sooooooo dumb XD. Im sry. Allah is god u dumb*ss. It is literally just a different name. Judaism, christianity, and islam are all abrahamic faiths. That means they all worship the EXACT same god.

It is common knowledge... You are really dumb. Can't even get the facts right. lel

    1. You're contradicting yourself. You're trying to tell me that God had complete control over the design process of humans and choose to make us good, yet we ended up sinful? Either a) God made us sinful on purpose or b) we malfunctioned in which case God isn't very good at creating life

    2. This doesn't sound like a cult to you? "everything god does is good". Why don't you judge him on his actions instead of starting with the conclusion that he's perfect? Also - it takes one hell of a f--ked up religion that in order to defend it, you have to perform mental gymnastics culminating you in saying that there is good coming of a child dying. Why don't you go to Africa, find a child starving to death, and tell them that? Tell them that there is good coming out of their intense suffering. And what's worse is that after typing this horrific statement you have the nerve to say I lack a perception of good. If thinking a child starving to death is not "good" and wanting to hold God accountable for it (and he IS accountable) is lacking a perception then I guess I do... but that's not how I'd define it/

    Two things.
    1.
You just used Wikipedia as a source. I'm not even going to bother explaining why that combined with the term "estimates" show that this article is most likely either fabricated or completely false. Not only did they use polls to determine these numbers, but we have no record of who participated in these polls. For all we know the polls came from a primarily Christian or Catholic section of our country or a city. You need a more reliable source considering that I literally just edited some of the information on your "source" to make it seem completely fabricated and to prove the point that those numbers are utterly meaningless.
    2.
People prefer fantasy worlds because their realities and the pasts they have been through tend to make them wish they lived in a place that was different from that which they really live in. Some of the horrors that we have experienced just push us away from reality and we dissociate ourselves and try to take as many breaks from the realities of life as possible.
(Not sure how whether people prefer fantasy worlds over reality is even slighty related to the topic in that article but ok.)

Judaism and Christianity go hand-in-hand. Islam is the estranged one with a view of God so distorted they actually worship a different God.
    1. The instructions were clear, "Do not eat the fruit from that tree." They believed the obvious lies of the evil one. They had no flaws until they disobeyed.

    2. I've already explained it. I just can't understand it for you.

    3. I've already explained it above.

You have no knowledge on Islam. I know many muslims and trust me when I say they worship the same god. They follow the same principles. They believe in peace and helping others. You are thinking of extremists. Saying all muslims are this way is like saying all christians are nazis. So please. Learn from primary sources.

And who was this evil one? You are telling me something wasn't good that god made. And if you say god didn't make the evil one than you are telling me god isn't really behind all creation. And if you tell me the evil thing became that way please explain how it could.

You're thinking of the "moderates" who can be considered radical themselves but in a different way, a passive way from the jihadists. I highly doubt they follow the Quran in its entirety. If you want traditional, by-the-book Muslims, look at Saudi Arabia, Iran (maybe), Qatar, and the Stans (if you know what I mean).
These countries have laws that punish gays with imprisonment and sometimes the death penalty. Women have very little freedom in some of these countries. Other religions sometimes have to pay a tax for not being Islam. Jews are treated like the spawn of Satan in Islam as well.
Don't tell me Islam is a religion of peace, because it's not. To quote an atheist, Bill Maher, "Islam is the only religion that acts like the mafia and will f***ing kill you if you say the wrong thing or do the wrong thing."

I'm talking about Satan. He's the Evil One. An angel who thought he could rebel against God but failed miserably.
