Truth spoken. Usually staff are given a certain amount of time inactive and eventually they will be demoted. It's typically a long time as we aren't exactly sure of their situation.

 

I think there is no problem with inactive staff members holding positions, which is what everyone seems to complain about, because no one else is needing that position. If there is no position in high demand held by an inactive staff member I don't see any reason to demote anyone. People do have their own personal lives where they may have to take extended time off for one reason or another.

 

Read what you just wrote and see what mistake you made.

To be a staff member requires activity on the forums, in-game, or ts/discord. It is an actual requirement you have to fill before receiving staff. If a staff goes inactive, he or she must have a reason, ex. cuddled, or they will be demoted for inactivity prior to the staff handbook.

 

Yes, ok, I understand now. Thank you. I can see how this is a problem. Staff should try to remain active, or at least give notification if they are going for some reason. But, as seems to be the meaning of this thread, and from what I can see in the poll, people think inactive staff are taking up space, but if no one is going to fill that space there is no point complaining about this. People are not denied because there is already an inactive staff member holding the position they are applying for.

Well this was a pretty passive aggressive response.

I agree with SuperBen4, in that they will be demoted at some point or another. But in the meantime it isn't like they are hurting other players. The only way inactive staff are going to have a negative effect is if players are trying to contact them through the forums, in which they should have a status stating they are away.

I suppose a pileup of inactive moderators, adding new staff, and then having the older members return could oversaturate the server with mods, but that seems pretty unlikely.

The real solution is probably having a staff manager in the absence of Cuddled.

 

So far, there are 11 people who have absolutely no clue what they are talking about. People are wanting to demote the inactive staff, but what they need to do is mind their own damn business because an inactive staff member isn't doing any harm to anybody as long as they have a status stating that they are away. As long as the staff member fills that condition, the only problems that are happening are the ones users keep creating. We don't even need to know why they are inactive, because the reasoning won't affect anything, as long they have one. Normally, users should be smart enough to realize that if a staff member is still a staff member after a long period of inactivity, there is a reason. Unfortunately, this is not the case. The only exception is when there isn't someone to fill in for an important role, such as Cuddled's role. Perhaps someone is indeed filling in for her, and people are thinking that the staff team is in complete disarray just because there was no mention of a temporary replacement. We don't need to know every detail of every situation in the staff team. If something affects us directly, we will more than likely be notified. Ease up, ya cheesewheels.
