In order to educate new players about the server more and to help them get established / increase player retention, I think we should force all new players into a starter team.

They would start in a small custom world / place and have access to special resources like a regenerating mine, food, regenerating forest, etc and would have to complete certain quests to unlock some of these areas, while also learning the fundamental features of the server. They would eventually be kicked from the team and lose access to such areas after collecting a certain level of resources and completing all quests, while also having the opportunity to leave the team whenever they want to.

The special resource areas could be unlocked or whatever similar to how the hub works with the VIP / MVP / elite sections, but dependent on their level or quest progress.

I think this would help players meet other noobs, establish themselves in a safer and easier way before going to the "real" map, and should help them learn more about the server in an interactive way.

+1 from me, but I dont expect new players to actually use this. If I were to join a new server, I'd rather just start off from 0 instead of being in a starter team where I have to complete 'quests' and areas. But some players might like this and actually use it. If it's possible to code this kind of starter team, they should.

+1 however, I feel like you should be able to skip this, just incase those who don't want to do it can skip it.

I like the idea a lot. I think that new players need some sort of incentive to meet other new players and grow together. The only issue i see is that so many new players have the mindset of not really having a team, just join one, take their stuff, rinse and repeat. I think that trying to connect new players in any way possible to create new teams is a fantastic idea, if there was a way to get them out of the mindset that you need to betray to the top, most don't understand that growing together is the fastest way to grow.

I have already suggested something likewise a year ago but back then i was told that putty said that such a "tutorial" is out of question.

i think +1 because one key issue is people not reading the tutorial books, they probably die first and loose it. While also getting killed by heavily armored people they don't see it is as fun. to get a new community here on raid this will definitely help

This server is already too friendly to new players. Any new player that wants this out of a minecraft server wouldn't even be playing a server without claims.

If I understand, yes, it would be for anyone, but they could leave whenever.

I personally don't think we are doing enough to reach out to new players. Even the new ones that stay around usually don't even use the servers features. I want to help teach them / improve the quality of the player base this way.
