honestly, who cares? just because you hear yanny does not mean its yanny

 

Its yanny, I have no idea how anyone can hear laurel at all

 

We don't perceive the world in it's true state. Our brain interprets light waves refracting off of objects and produces that into an image which is how we see the world. Our brain does the same thing with sound waves and it varies from person to person what you hear and what your brain interprets the wave lengths of the sounds to mean.

Correct answer is laurel btw (confirmed by tweeter), though I hear yanny. It's just cuz we've been given a preset for the words so it's going to sound like either one; a little like when you mishear lyrics because you don't understand what the singer is saying. I guess it's also about how well your ears work too

 

When slowed down I can kinda hear a Y right before he says Laurel
