What is your experience and knowledge of Brawl? -
I used to play Capture the Flag on the MCPVP servers where I fell in love with the game and then followed it to Brawl. I then played the game on Brawl for a couple of years until 2017 and took a break until summer 2019. I have spent the past 8 or so months getting back into the game and have taken part in the CTF Draft Team Tournament and Season One since then. It was a video in my recommended on YouTube from CTF Match Spotlight (CMS) that made me remember the fun times I had playing competitive CTF that triggered my return, so I thought it would be fitting if I helped CMS out. After commentating a few matches I decided to write a program that would enhance the viewing experience and aid with the streaming of games. I then collaborated with @Ninsanity to build a tool that enables CMS to create highlight compilations in real-time, to generate visuals of game stats, to automate upcoming map scenes and easily collect highlight clips from games to be used in compilations. An example of this would be the CMS Season One Top 10 video, where I sent out a google form to the community for them to submit clips, ordered the clips in a way that minimised bias and then created voice-overs for the final edit (credit to b0squet!!). My work towards the CMS project has earned me the Media rank and it has been quite rewarding to get positive feedback from the community about the improved quality of the streams.

Outside of CMS, I lead Fotiá – a CTF Team. We have focused on giving new players opportunities to improve. Since our founding just before the beginning of Season One we have progressed very fast, and all players on the team have improved massively. I am proud of our progress in Season One and I look forward to future seasons. I am very involved with the competitive community and regularly take part in community events and PPMs/PUGs. I also provide a lot of updates on behalf of CMS in the #competitive-announcements channel in the CTF discord. It is this deep involvement in the competitive community which motivates me to apply for staff.

What is your experience with moderating servers, if any? -
I have not yet moderated a Minecraft server, but I have moderating experience from other games. During my break between 2017-2019, I played a lot of Overwatch and was a founding member of a community called Scrim Central. This community of over 8000 members is a hub for finding competitive scrims, where team leaders will coordinate with each other. In the past there have been difficult situations with players making threats to each other and so on, which I have experience dealing with. As an admin of the server I have attended a couple of in-person LAN events where Overwatch tournaments were hosted, and I met with other staff members. Speaking of hosting tournaments, we used to host bi-weekly tournaments on that server, containing eight teams and a losers bracket, very similar to CTF Season One. I was part of the team organising these. This was very challenging as Blizzard policies meant that we weren’t allowed to host tournaments over time periods longer than a day. This meant that we had to fit the same amount of matches as the CTF Season One Playoffs into one afternoon, lasting 6-8 hours. This required a large team of moderators and referees, which had to be coordinated. You can watch a recording of one of the finals games here:

I was also part of the team that developed the stream tool for those games, and it is here that I learnt the skills that I applied when creating the stream tool for CMS. I feel like I can apply more of the lessons I learnt there to being a staff member for Brawl.

Why do you want to become a moderator on Brawl? -
As you can see from the paragraphs above, I am very involved in the competitive CTF community and I have experience hosting events and moderating a community. I have had many people encourage me to apply for staff and I think I could help out a lot when it comes to organising events and making the game more friendly to new players. I am also very active in the #suggestions channel (2 of my suggestions were added to the latest update) and I feel like I would be a good voice when it comes to making improvements to the game.

Have you ever been punished (banned, kicked, muted, etc) legitimately on a public Minecraft server? If so, why? - No

What do you consider your greatest strength? -
I am good at organising things and collaborating with people. I’m not shy to approach people or reach out to someone. I am open to working with new players.

What do you consider your greatest weakness? -
I often take on quite a lot of different tasks or roles and find myself with a lot of work to do. This changes when I can work on a project with other people, so I think I would do well around other staff.

Yeah I would agree that my attitude there was poor at times. I also handled a situation with members of our team badly when I was staff leading me to basically lose all of my friends from overwatch, so I've certainly learnt from that
