    MCBrawl Mod Application: Cbsusd

Are you active and helpful on our servers, forums, and Teamspeak? - As a member of the forums for nearly 6 months, I have over 1100 posts. I consider my posts to be factual and helpful (for the most part) and I try to be as friendly a forumer as possible. I have been a member of the servers for over a year now, and my dedication has never faltered. At around 130,000 kills, I am most likely in the top 50 most active members of the server. I frequent the Teamspeak, and I am friends with many of the staff members who can be found there. I play with new players and help people with their questions when I can, and I enjoy being a part of the community in that manner. Just the other day, I was able to help a new player with his query about the VIP donation rank: http://imgur.com/a/YweXd (Sorry about the link, I don't want to insert large pictures and clog up the application)

Which server are you applying for? - McWar
How old are you? - 15 years old
What time zone are you in? - GMT -8 (California, if I got my time zones wrong)

What is your experience and knowledge of Minecraft? - I was told about the game by a close friend of mine several years ago back in 1.3 beta. Initially, the idea sounded stupid, but he persisted, and I gave it a try. At first, I hated it, constantly getting shot by skeletons and mauled by zombies and creepers. So I scoured the internet looking for tips and strategies, and I was able to establish a fair living for myself in singleplayer. But once I thought I had conquered the world, my tiny reality was shattered by the vast and expansive world of multiplayer minecraft. I joined a small server in 1.5, and some friends and I explored the how minecraft worked. That server was bought by a large gaming community, and a new, inferior set of staff members administrated the server. On that server, I was the richest non-staff person around, and it was fun. Eventually, the original owners got fed up with the neglect, and bought the server back. They created a new community. I played for a little bit, then left. I was looking for a parkour server when a friend suggested this one for the old lobby parkour. I was just getting frustrated with it when the game started, and I was swept into the wonderful world of minecraft Call of Duty. The love was immediate and unconditional. I was determined to reach the top, and to unlock the skullcrusher. In the prestige gun room, its damage rating was “HIGH” in all caps, and so it became my ultimate goal. I’ve known many of the staff members from before they attained their ranks as well. I knew aidan, I had a steaming rivalry with Lord_Roke, I often played with Brian, and I talk with sarge all the time on the Teamspeak. Eventually, my friend started up his own server. It was sort of an RPG/Survival server in a winter wasteland, and we built all the dungeons and rank rooms ourselves. We had a small community of dedicated players, but then they just started disappearing. We had no idea why. So we decided to re-invent the server, and it is still under construction. That brings me to this day, minecraft experience recounted.

What is your experience with moderating servers? - On the first server I played on, two of my close friends got mod. This isn't my personal experience with moderating, but it's where I learned what it takes, and what sorts of responsibilities come with the position. Once had a vague idea of what was considered “moderating,” and had joined a certain freebuild server, I witnessed the other side of staffing a server. The owner was making his standards a bit too high. Instead of using worldguard, he replaced every block in spawn with honeypot blocks; if anyone tried to break anything, instead of being discouraged with a friendly red message saying they don’t have the permissions, they are immediately and automatically banned. Additionally, the glitch where chat messages sometimes send twice is counted as “spambot”. That’s another instant ban. Lots of players were complaining about their unfair bans, and I learned that a good server administrator doesn’t take it too far. Later, a friend of a friend started up a prison server. Some friends and I helped build the entire map from scratch, and the whole server was handmade. I was an admin, and I dealt with the player-to-player affairs, and hackers. I have a knack for the logistics of hack detection and prevention. I am easily able to understand how anti-cheat plugins work, and what loopholes remain open. On average, we would have around 20 players online. But sadly, the donation branch of the server was not established very well, and so not enough players donated to maintain the server. So my new friends and I went on a search for more fun. We found a nice small testing server of another popular server, (which will go unnamed) and we played there. It was great for a long time, until we found out that the owner was secretly taking items from our chests, duping them for his friends, and putting them back in. After confronting the staff about this, they simply laughed me off and I was banned. I learned about the anguish players feel if staff members become corrupt. A little while into stumbling across McWar, a friend of mine started up his server. It went down and is under remodel, but for a while it was pretty nice. We had a very friendly community of people who were very loyal players. I fought off ddos threats, hacker teams, and griefers. There was a time when one of the admin’s accounts got hacked, and spawn was whisked away. I spent hours repairing that. While it sometimes got difficult, my enjoyment of the experience never faltered.

What will you provide to the community if you are provided moderator status? – I can provide a safe, fun community for players to enjoy. I can easily identify hackers, and I am willing to make sacrifices in order to keep McWar and the forums a safe and fun place for players. I will be able to cleanse the servers of hackers and spammers, help people with their questions, and keep the Teamspeak free of rule-breakers as well. I will perform my duties with dedication and fortitude, if such qualities are necessary, and I hope everyone finds my contribution to mcbrawl to be a meaningful one.

How active do you consider yourself in-game? – I began playing on new years day of 2013, if I’m not mistaken, and I have been very active ever since. I am on at the very least an hour and a half a day, and on weekends I can be on for around eight hours if my mother doesn’t object. :V Many people on many different server numbers know my name, and I try every day to live up to their respect. In-game I am friendly and helpful, and I don’t let things go to my head.

How active do you consider yourself on TS3? – Any time I’m playing mcbrawl (and not supposed to be studying) I’ll probably be on the Teamspeak. That’s how I’ve gotten to know many of the current staff members, and other active and friendly players. Recently I have been away from the TS due to badly scheduled finals and a massive history paper, but I have returned at last.

How active do you consider yourself on the forums? – I weigh in at over 1,000 posts, and I consider myself to be a former worthy of some level of respect. I am a true addict to the forums.
I’ve been a member for over 7 months, and every day poses another opportunity for me to give back to the community and to make the forums a better place.

What do you consider your greatest strength? – When needed, I can produce maturity that exceedes my years.
What do you consider your greatest weakness? – I tend to be taken less seriously than others. I don’t know why, but I just am. But I don’t complain, and I work hard to earn respect.

How would you handle someone making a minor transgression for the first time? – I would warn them that they are infracting upon the server rules, and if they do it again, action will be taken to stop them.
How would you handle the same person doing it again a second time? – I would kick them from the server, providing them with a warning saying that they are breaking the rules and kindly asking them to stop.
How would you handle that person doing it again for the third time? – I would tempban the player for one hour, and report them in the google form, as is proper convention.

What is your reaction if someone publicly proves you wrong on the forums? – I would apologize and thank them for the correction. If I get something wrong, then it would be stupid to act indignant. Pride is the enemy of efficiency. Trying to prove I am right and making a fool out of myself would be a bad way to handle any situation. I would be grateful to have a knowledgeable forumer help me out. Everyone makes mistakes, and there’s nothing we can do about that. The key is not to do it often.
What would you do when someone breaks a rule on the forums? – I would immediately report the message, and then inform the rule breaker of their violation of the forum rules.
When would you lock a thread? – I would lock a thread if:
    1. If the topic is resolved
    2. If the creator requests a lock
    3. It is determined that it is a spam thread
    4. If it tumbles into an all-out flame war
    5. If it is a grave dig

Describe yourself in 3 words: Loyal, honest, efficient.
Describe yourself in 1 sentence: I am an intelligent person who will do what’s necessary in order to ensure the safety and security of what is important to him.
Anything else we should know about you? – I have a genius iq

Situation: A player is out of the map on MC-WAR. What are the steps that you would take to ensure that this player and situation is properly dealt with? - The first thing to do would be to simply warn them, and tell them to return to the confines of the map. If they are unresponsive, I would first take a screenshot of them, then ask them to return to the map a second time to make sure they heard me. If they respond with hostility (as opposed to not responding at all) I would report the player in question on the forums. Once this is done, I would look for the map glitch they used, and if found, report it under the “Bug Reports” section. If I see that same player map glitching again, I would report them a second time, and temp ban for an hour.

Do you generally know how all the plugins and commands work? - Yes. I am familiar with all the commands in essentials, some of the commands in McWarfare. I am aware of all the commands that someone of my rank would be privy to.

Do you realize that if you are disrespectful or abuse your power, your power will be taken away? - I do.

Please insert a Yes / No poll below.

Why do all the good people have to go for War?
We already have a lot of people for 16 servers, and not all have people on.
We need more WarZ and Party mods.
Even if you are super-qualified, you're fullest potential can't be brought out if you're with a server that has ample mods already.
This is why I hate seeing War apps v:

But what do I know? Not like my say is final.

I was born and raised on war, so to speak. My loyalties lie there, and I would like nothing better than to help uphold justice on my all-time favorite server.
