Before you guys send me death threats about how you didn't get 60fps on your cheap $300 laptop, there is no 'magical' solution to get $4000 performance in a $300 laptop. Now read on!

It would be really awesome if you gave me a like! It takes a while to research and write it into words. I really hope this thread helps, and don't forget to enjoy

Hey guys! It's me again with a helpful guide that is simple to follow and dumb-proof. A lot of people in MCBrawl complain about lag, and lag, and rayguns, and lag. Instead of bothering the mods about the server, you should instead check if it is you who is lagging. Here are some of my remedies which will hopefully boost your computer's performance.

    1. Clean your damn RAM!
No, not that type of ram. I'm talking about the one in your computer. RAM is short for 'random-access-memory', and it is the place in a computer where the operating system, application programs, and data in current use are kept so that they can be quickly reached by the computer's processor. RAMs come in various sizes, from 4GB (the new norm), 8GB, and even 1TB! Depending on your RAM, it can fill up pretty quickly and therefore lowering your performance. Your new favorite software will be CCleaner, which basically cleans out the junk RAM out of your computer. I recommend cleaning it weekly, since your RAM can fill up pretty fast especially with Minecraft.

    2. Remove bloatware

Chances are if you have a Windows computer pre-built, you got bloatware. Bloatware isn't a type of virus or anything, it is the OEMs pre-installed software in your computer. These softwares can sometimes be unnecessary and even annoying, but they also take some to a lot of storage. An example of bloatware would be 'HP Touchsmart Recipe Book', a bloatware software common in HP computers. It takes a big chunk in my computer, about 289 MB! Now I ask myself, do I really need a
289 MB recipe book which I could easily search on the web for better recipes and won't even take a MB? I have no desire to keep it, so I simply uninstall it from my Start menu, or use CCleaner to do it. To identify bloatware, search anything that starts with your OEMs name (HP, Lenovo, Toshiba etc)

3.Upgrading? Build, don't buy. Stay away from Laptops if you don't travel with it.

Maybe your 2001 computer needs to move on. Any computer geek can tell you building a computer is better than buying one. The advantages? It's cheaper, more powerful, extremely customizable, and even fun when you finish it and look at the beauty you made. I highly recommend going to Austin Evans channel on YouTube, where some of his vids feature high performance budget builds under $1000 like his latest one called "
Meson - Budget ITX Gaming PC Build". One tip to keep in mind is if you ever want to build or sadly buy one, don't get laptops if you don't see yourself traveling with it. They're meant to be temporary computers for traveling and don't pack a lot of power but do burn a hole in your wallet.

    TIP!
If you're wasting more than $1000 on a Minecraft-only setup, you're basically throwing money out the toilet. 60-80 FPS can easily be achieved by custom built computers half the price on max settings.
TIP! Always balance your parts, never have one that overpowers others. You could have the best graphics card, yet have a slow processor built in. Not good. They should be equally powerful so your computer can run smoothly.

    4.Switch to PC!

Like it or not, PC is the recommended choice if you want to game on a computer. Macs have a lot of disadvantages, as you can't upgrade its parts, they're overpriced, and don't run games well. This is due to the fact they are designed for professionals such as engineers, video editors, photoshoppers and all else, but not gaming. Also, if you plan on playing other games on your computer, games always come first or are only compatible with PCs.

    Hope this helps!

And if you ever need help with building your own computer, there are many websites where you can ask other people to build one for you. There's also a section on the offical Minecraft forums for hardware discussions.

Optifine is also a great way to optimise your FPS on Minecraft.

My labtop isn't specialised for gaming but it works great. I can record without lagg, edit videos and export them (it does go faster on my fathers i7, but it's alright).
    Nice guide!

    1. Get Optifine
    2. Overclock that GPU until it screams for mercy.
    3. Use ethernet instead of WiFi.
    4. Run Minecraft at a lower resolution.
    5. Kill those background processes.
    6. Perfecto.

I just want to say macs do handle games pretty well, but developers just do not want to make games for it. In SP for minecraft, I can easily get 120 FPS with the max settings. TF2 also gets pretty good FPS as well, as well as cod 4. Do not deny mac, PC is better for games but a mac is also a good option if you do not want to worry about FPS or downloading viruses. And if anyone says I am a mac nub or pro mac, I am not. I play on a family computer, and my dad got fed up with having to fix our PC all the time.
Oh and as stated, optifine works wonders. Cleaning your RAM is also a good choice.

I have 2 minor tips to improve this:
    1. Turning off your computer clears you RAM, so just shutting down your computer can help. The thing you said with ccleaner would help clearing your hard drive
    2. PC is short for personal computer. I get annoyed when people use the term PC interchangeably with Windows, just because a personal computer can run and operating system.

Yeah turning it off clears it, but I don't think people will want to shutdown every time they want to clear their RAM. CCleaner wipes off both RAMs in the computer, something shutting down will only do one. I felt that including this will help the user a lot more since it is an all in one package.

It is a common term to refer any computer running Windows and Linux. It is familiar to most people, and i used it for sake of simplicity and better understandings. I am aware of my use, but to me it seems to be a more friendly term to use.

First thing I want to say it 1TB ram, really, you sure that's a ram module possible to own unless you're google or something and nah, allocate more ram to MC is just what I did and run 150+ fps smooth on high setting, I'm on an Imac with 4gb ram and I'm upgrading to 16gb for editing and rendering Minecraft is perfectly fine just with extra ram, optifine and low settings...

I have a tip for Mac users, especially laptop users. Recent Macs come built in with two GPU cards. A crappy Intel that runs everyday processes, and a beefed-up nVIDIA that packs a punch.

System Preferences > Energy Saver > Graphics Switching (untick)

I used to get 20fps on my unmodded MacBook Pro, and with this I get 150+.

I never recommended it. I simply wanted to give the impression that there are a lot of RAMs to choose from. 1tb is overkill.
