Idea PvP with a little spice

    So, my idea is to make PvP a little harder, as PvP currently is pretty straight foward and boring (hit spam) and since this a "hardcore" PvP survival server, let's add some spice to PvP.

    Swords:

    Swords
    currently are just used to hit. With this idea, blocking will be more useful. When you block a hit you will use not as much hearts, and a little noise will ring. It all depends on when you time your block, because if you don't do it fast, you will lose 2.5 hearts, where as if you block fast, you will lose 0. Also, when a swords durability is down, you will take less hearts when hit.

    Bows:

    When bows are shot from a farther distance, you will get more impact on the player. If you shot from 5 blocks away, you take 4 hearts off them. Where as when you shoot 25 blocks away, you take 8 hearts off them. Also, when you are shot in the head, you will take more damage.

    Armor:

    When armor is low, you lose more health when attacked. Also, bow shots will take more damage in certain places. For instance, if you shoot them in the chest, they will take 5 hearts. Where as if you shoot then in the feet, they will take three hearts.

    Credit to Sethbling for making a Combat plugin that inspired me to make this.

    Armor and weapons I have found break really fast.

    And PvP is already harder since the range you can hit someone is so close.
    In a chase, you need to fully catch up to the runner before you can hit them. It is like a 1 block range.

    Umm I guess this is quite a good idea :smile:
    Since armor runs down quite fast

    Those ideas would make bows way too overpowered, especially while you can glitch with the bow.

    I don't know about the durability thing, maybe it would make a fight more interesting.

    I agree with the overpowered bow aspect. Then again, blocking with a sword and taking no damage is quite iverpowered also. I like the idea of making pvp more interesting, but some of these ideas need some tweaking.

    Your bow idea is good but people still bow glitch which makes the bow op in fights.

    Well as it goes the most common armor used in combat is iron armor which as around 250 durability around for each piece of armor. I think that the idea is really interesting in all but fights would be too short and too easy since you can fight a full dia low durability without taking any risks

    To tweak the bow idea a bit: Perhaps if your more than 25 blocks away, you do one heart more damage, and if your more than 35, you do an extra 2-3? It's not that op but makes sniping more useful.

    Blocking just seems annoying.

    The armor idea sounds like it could be interesting.

    I'm not one for enhanced combat, but I think it'll work with a few tweaks.
    Bows are way too overpowered.
