[WARNING] Optifine Cape giveaway

I've been stumbling across on several threads on many forums which normally read "FREE CAPE" and other hook messages which grabs your attention. I tend to ignore these, along with other ads such as those about some "Holy grail of food- OZ" crap, but the fact Minecraft is largely populated by minors brings this to be a serious threat. It is natural for minors to be easily be fooled than those of older age, and the perfect place for these scammers to commit a crime is by the game they play.


The scam.
Although these scams are nothing new, they can be fooled for very easily. This appears to be one of the well created scams, and the scammer uses the techniques such as impersonation of an authorized group and even matching the exact website of Optifine. If I were to show you these websites at a glance, you would see no difference in them.

How it's done.
The scammer of the "Optifine Free Cape giveaway" has an advantage of looking exactly like the authorized group. +1 Trust. The victim is fooled into credibility, and the only way to enter the giveaway is to enter your Mojang/Minecraft account login details. That should be the green light in ANY scam. Companies will never ask you for your login details, and nowadays will announce some contest via their social networks.

Real Optifine and Fake Optifine.
I've found some differences between these two websites in case if Optifine ever really does a giveaway. As of now, Optifine sports a repetitive snow texture as a background, the fake one uses a white one. The real Optifine ends with .net, this one starts with .support.
