    McBrawl Moderator Application:

Are you active and helpful on our servers, forums, and Teamspeak? - Yes.
Approximately, how many rule breaker reports have you submitted? - I usually tell a mod to get on and/or show them proof and they deal with the situation. In the cases when there are no mods on, I submit a rule breaker report. I have not submitted many yet, but I have started reporting all rule breakers that I come across.

How old are you? - I am 16 years old.
What time zone are you in? - Pacific Standard Time.

What is your experience and knowledge of Minecraft? - I will spare the details, and try to give a brief summary of my history with Minecraft, because I think that's the best way to communicate my answer to this question. I joined Minecraft when it was in Beta 1.2. My friend Dexter showed it to me and he was the first one I played with. Since I was a big fan of legos in my youth, I immediately wanted to build. Dexter's older brother had a server and he, his friends and me would spawn in items and build castles, roller coasters and anything else that came into our head. My first encounter with a complex plugin was one that made blocks move. We would make spaceships and planes and fly them around rather choppily. Eventually Beta 1.3 came out and we started playing survival instead of creative.

The first major server I joined was called Catharsis Gaming. When I joined, it was called Cookie Crisp, but the name changed over time. It was a free-build server. I played on Catharsis for around two years. It was my favorite server because the community was amazing. At it's height it had an average of 50 players at any given time. After many months, I got a moderator position. There was no forum at the time, and no mod apps. The admins simply trusted me. During the summer of 2012, the server sort of started losing players, because the admins became inactive. The other staff members started running the server, but without the help of the admins, the server eventually went down. That server had been my home for a very long time, but luckily, my friends from that server showed me other servers that we had a great time on.

In the past I check sources for updates and snapshots of Minecraft, because I always like to have as much knowledge as I can about Minecraft so I can answer any question a player has. In the past, whenever a new feature comes out, I like to experiment with it to get a better understanding of it.

What is your experience with moderating servers? - My first moderator position was on Catharsis Gaming (40-50 players). After it went down I helped friends build small servers. Some of them became successful servers. The most memorable of them, was a server called Loyalty Prison. I pretty much built the whole server from scratch, and one the owner's most trusted admins. The server had around 10-20 players on average. It eventually went down after many months of success.

After this I began working on my own server. I spent long hours learning how to host a local server, and taught myself how to configure plugins. I spent around 3 months building a world I thought players could enjoy. Since it was a dungeon server, there was a lot of setup I had to do before I could release it. I'm not even sure if there are other dungeon servers out there, but essentially it was a server where players could clear dungeons with a team of friends every day fighting mobs and bosses, and collecting loot to buy things from the global shop.
Being the owner of my own server has taught me what the owners of other servers have to deal with.

Catharsis Gaming (Has been offline for a long time)
Winterhunt Server (My old server, ProfessionalMH is my account)
Loyalty Prison (Warden is another term for admin)

What will you provide to the community if you are provided moderator status? - During the time that I've played I have encountered mods and talked to them, even sometimes trying to help them. There are times when there are no mods on that I notice someone glitch, or get out of the map. In which case I call a mod onto the server to help. But mods are not always available to handle the situation.
I understand fully that Mcbrawl is not looking for mods in MC-War, but I think I can bring a helpful voice to the servers. Moderating means punishing people for breaking the rules, but also trying to make players understand each other's differences. If an argument is affecting the experience of other players, then we have a problem. As a moderator I believe I can help in that area.

Have you ever used a hacked client before? - Yes. I believe hacking is wrong, but I will admit that I have had a hacked client before. Even though moderators should not use hacked clients, I believe that it's important for them to know how they work. It's one of the jobs of mods to catch hackers and inspect hacker reports so obviously knowing what hacking is and what a hacker would do is required information.

Have you ever been banned on a Minecraft server? If so, why? - I have been banned from a server, but it was not for a fair reason. My friends and I were playing on a prison server, when all of a sudden somone in creative flew toward us and started dropping stacks of diamond blocks, cauldrons, spawn eggs and other items. I picked them up because they were everywhere, then banned for duping.

How active do you consider yourself in-game? - I play on almost all the servers of mcbrawl, but MC-War is the server I love and therefore spend most of my time. I joined MC-War during January of 2013, before any other servers of Mcbrawl existed, before you had to reload.
@Cbsusd and joined looking for a parkour server. Finding the parkour at the old spawn, we were content with trying to beat it. Until the game started. I wouldn't say that we were immediately immersed in a new fantastic world, but we did have fun. The love for MC-War gradually grew. And even though over the past year I have played on other servers, MC-War has always been my home server. My other histories include being in the clans TRA, and Feyz. I am currently level 91, the co-owner of Feyz, and have had my fair share of moderating experiences as a Feyz mod. Even though it's not the same as a server mod, it has taught me a lot about toleration and respect towards fellow players.

How active do you consider yourself on TS3? - I am on the Teamspeak pretty frequently. I hop on Ts3 almost whenever I play, and I encourage other players to do so as well.

How active do you consider yourself on the forums? - I check the forums daily at the least. I read threads and post when I feel it's important. If I feel my idea has been stated by someone else, I rate their post agree. If I agree but feel need to elaborate then I quote their post and thus elaborate.

What do you consider your greatest strength? - My patience. I believe that I rarely get frustrated when dealing with problems.
What do you consider your greatest weakness? - Being unable to answer any question a player has. I know it's impossible to know everything, but when a player asks me a question that I cannot answer, it makes me feel disappointed.

How would you handle someone making a minor transgression for the first time? - I would kindly tell them that it's not allowed and they shouldn't do it again.

How would you handle the same person doing it again a second time? - I would warn them that if they did it one more time, they will be punished.

How would you handle that person doing it again for the third time? - Proceed to kick them.

What is your reaction if someone publicly proves you wrong on the forums? - Admit that I am wrong in a way that is neutral to both sides.
What would you do when someone breaks a rule on the forums? - Warn the player in a private convo, then report it to a Super Mod/Admin.

When would you lock a thread? - I would always let the creator of the thread know that they can PM me to request that the thread be unlocked. I would lock a thread when:
    • The thread is very off-topic.
    • Grave dug thread.
    • There is a flame war.
    • The thread is spam.
    • The thread goes against one of the forum rules.
    • The thread is a duplicate of another thread.
Describe yourself in 3 words: Fair, honest, balanced.

Anything else we should know about you? - I am sophomore, and I take computer science. I know some simple java but not enough to code a plugin or mod, but if I were to see some code, I would have a good idea of what most of it meant. I take Graphic Design 2, and Studio Art 1. I consider myself an adept artist, being able to work through drawing on paper, painting on canvas or using technology such as my iPad to make pixel art.
You should also know that I am a very patient person. Being a person that plays other games that Minecraft, I am able to say that some games have taught me to be especially patient. Especially Dark Souls. Beating Dark Souls was one of the most rewarding but also educational experiences I've had. It was educational about myself, and it taught me to look at the tendencies I have when I don't do well. Growing up I was never the the type to "rage", but instead would get sad or upset at myself. Over the years however I've changed and now I just brush off insults and think about how I can improve when I make mistakes.

It's also worthy to note that Cbsusd and I are in the same grade and go to the same school. We have been friends since 6th grade. I am aware this does not affect my chances of becoming a mod, so during my time at Mcbrawl, I have done my best to prove myself on my own.

Situation: A player is out of the map on MC-WAR. What are the steps that you would take to ensure that this player and situation is properly dealt with? - Private message him to come back inside the map, and if he doesn't, kick him.

Do you generally know how all the plugins and commands work? - I do. Since I had to configure many plugins myself I know the boundaries of what plugins can do. And I think knowing the boundaries is one of the most important aspects of being a moderator.
Do you realize that if you are disrespectful or abuse your power, your power will be taken away? I do. I will do my best to respect every player and use my power for the purpose of moderating only.

(Votes are not displayed publicly because I think people may not vote based on what they think, but on what others think. Do your own thinking please.)

    Thank you for your consideration.

I've seen you on Teamspeak at a good amount of time. You're active in game and nice to players, you've helped players with problems like "Where can I get the (insert donor gun here)?" and other things. Although we do have a lot of staff members but you're a very nice person and I believe that you can handle this position.
    Good luck my friend. 1+

You seem to be active, your application is very good. Maybe you could post a bit more on forums, but I think you are a mature and nice person and you deserve this position. Good luck!
