So, I have seen many people apply, and many of them are my friends. However, many times, I do not see them as Moderator-Material. Also, I am worried that they would be really mad if they see that I think that. My suggestion is: Make it mandatory for all Moderator Polls to be private. I am sure it would cause much less hate, and negative feelings over someone's opinion. I am sure many people would like this idea.

However, if making a poll private is not that great of an idea, I have a second option. Give the reviewer the option to make their poll vote private. For example, next to where it says "Vote Poll Results", put a little box that you can check which would make your vote private. However, I am not sure if this is possible with Xenforo (I think that is how you spell it) 1.3.

If you have any feedback on these ideas, please leave it below, and feel free to discuss this idea!

    Sincerely,

    LukenDan

This is a good idea, however, for people who want to vote for themselves may make their vote private. Maybe make it so the votes are private to members or MOD+ can be able to view private votes. If you don't want to see that you don't think your friends have the qualities for mod, then don't vote at all. Anyways, after the first reply to their application they should know about how they aren't ready for mod.

The votes are public so people cant vote for themselves. When its private, no one knows if they did or they didnt.
While I think that your reasoning is sound, people shouldnt be offended by votes whether its from a friend or stranger.
If they cant take negative responses, then they are lacking the maturity that the position requires

I really like this idea, and I think it can save some friendships if one friend applies but the others say no. As RLH said, it may cause havoc if the thread poster votes for themselves, but I have an idea for that, too. (The poster of the thread can not vote in the poll) Overall, great idea, and I'd love to see it implemented!

I'm pretty sure admins can see votes, private or not.

Also, sometimes on public polls I want to vote no, but I'm afraid of offending them so I hesitate. I suppose that's my problem though.

    That is the main problem.
If you have a friend who is applying, then you probably don't want to come out as a jerk saying no.

And I completely agree with the variation @CaptainBrawler stated.

This could be a good idea, as CaptainBrawler said, you can keep things private. I am going with a yes on this although maybe there could be some faults to this.

Also the poll in the moderator application is the only way the non-staff members of this community can express themselves and give their opinion on the perso applying.

But the problem is, sometimes I want to vote -1, but I am afraid of how they will react.
