    Question: Why can't /r work. I would make a lot of players life a lot easier than to type out their name again?

    I am presuming you mean the /r (reply) command. And if so, then in fact it does work on some of our servers, it just depends on the way the server is coded.
    I believe the servers that do have /r:
    • WarZ
    • PvP Survival
    UPDATE : Now added to MC-War
