I was spending quite a while learning how to use the new weapons the update offers and noticed that every time I entered a close quarters/low medium range combat situation I would mow the opponent down. Is this intentional? or are the SMGs more powerful then expected?

If the SMGs are meant for this then almost all in-game tactics and maneuvers need to be rewritten, this also makes the other classes more powerful and weaker in more situations

Snipers: Now able to instantly pick off SMGs due to the SMG's accuracy not being able to hit the sniper but having the sniper become instantly screwed when the SMG enters range

Automatics: Now have to watch their backs more often as a quick flanking maneuver can kill a whole group before they can respond (I did this almost four times in three games) but also have the advantage of higher accuracy and faster reload speeds.

Shotguns: shotguns are again in a bad situation made worse by the SMGs now being basicly a close quarters automatic and out preforming them in almost any sense.

So, my question to you guys is: What do you think of how the game will change and how the community will evolve to these new and powerful weapons?

The point of an SMG is a pack-a-punch automatic weapon designed for close range combat.

yes, thats my point, there out preforming shotguns at point blank combat, this shouldn't be happening right?
I hope orange451 will buff shotguns somehow. and soon

Oh, and the point of an SMG is to be an SMG, not a "pack-a-punched" anything

I disagree. It's nice having something that can fire at a fast pace, does decent damage and is fun to use at close quarters. But I do agree, the shotguns need a buff now that the SMG's are here.

off topic: nice word choice there :stuck_out_tongue: (jk I know what you mean)

on topic: I think it will be interesting how the players unique styles change to accept the new threat of a super fast fire rate shotgun of death lurking around corners and such. Not to actually insult the SMGs of course but they are sorta like that in a way

SMG's aren't pack-a-punched there weapons used in real life.... SMG's are close quarter gun fights the should have much range and they should be really accurate not scoping.

What I mean by Pack-A-Punch, is a weapon that deals a huge amount of damage in a very small amount of time.

Hum... Maybe the SMGs will be quickly forgotten and ignored by the community, because they are not as good as other weapons.
I still prefer skullcrusher because of it's high accuracy.
The SMGs are not precise enough for me.

I tried out the P90 playing in game. When my team go EMP'd I was in a small tunnel and shot blindly and manage to take 4 players in medium quarters quite easily, it is also useful if you want to burst trough the defences thanks to it's rapid fire rate I will knockback quite easily.

    Don't touch model :v
Honestly pretty much all shotguns needed a buff anyway, thing is if you are really close range you can be shooting someone with your smg for around 1-2 seconds and have them instantly kill you (this really only happens if they are using model)

Pack a punch was in BO1 zombies too.
It basically took your weapon for 5000 points, and made it an upgraded version of the gun.

So the Ray Gun was the Porter. The Thundergun I believe was like extra ammo or something.

    People.
Learn your facts before you post confusing comments.
The COD BO2 zombies pack-a-punch is a completely different thing than the pack-a-punch cowlick is talking about.

The new SMGs crush the shotguns at close range. There's no point in using the Model anymore unless it's at close range with few enemies, since the SMGs kill a whole lot quicker overall.
The spread of the assault rifles is similar to the SMGs, but since they're slower, a SMG will usually win.

Before SMGs, the Lamentation was the only assault rifle that was similar to one. Now we have 6 weapons with a high firerate. (including the Lamentation)
Since more players can access these, it levels the playing field I guess, so that even a Skullcrusher user has difficulty nuking when there are SMGs on the other team. Same with crossbow users.
However, SMGs are meant for quick killing at close range, not at medium-long range....
