Balancing the Ray Gun

    While watching old FLUX videos on YouTube, I found this one.

    My proposal is that the Ray Gun is rolled back to that version. It would retain the exact same stats, except that you would actually have to hit someone for an explosion to occur. This would balance out the Ray Gun, by giving zombies a chance. Since the explosion only occurs if a zombie is hit, it will, in my opinion, balance the Ray Gun and make the server less pay to win in infected.
    With a patch to balance C4, this could make it easier for non donors with no donor items to play infected.

    In addition, it would make War more like it was before, with the donor weapons that weren't so OP, and it could cause positive changes in the community. Who knows...

    I forget about the old Ray-Gun.
    In TDM, did direct hits still kill in one shot?

    This would make more sense and be a very good think to finally make the ray-gun an acceptable weapon.

    This would help... So much...

    Perfectly fair nerf too, people can't complain "That's so unfair! The RayGun is useless now! I actually need skill to use it now! I demand it to be changed back!"

    No, it was a two or three hit kill. My idea only is for the explosion to be removed unless you hit a player; everything else is the same.
    Thanks for the positive support, as well. Hopefully, this is done so that infected isn't an experience farm for donors.
    Also, this idea is dedicated to @Mokolee who hates the Ray Gun so much.

    This weapon is not meant for TDM regardless.

    I think a lot of player that already have the Ray Gun will disagree but i think this would be a great way to make the Ray Gun less OP and it would cause less rage because you see a lot of player complaning over it during infect.

    I think the nerf I have suggested here is a balanced one, too.
    Right now, all you need to do to get kills with the Ray Gun is to point and click in the general area where a zombie is. I know this because I have the Ray Gun too. You should at least have to directly hit a target for an explosion to occur.

    Seems fair enough. As long as the ray is exactly like this. The damage, splash, and everything about it is perfect. Not too OP or weak. Honestly, I think this is great.

    I'm not ready for the optic bass :V

    Judging by the fact that it wasn't changed to this when the SMG update and the map update came out, I doubt so.

    The only reason I got the raygun was to be a boss in infect,
    I feel like with the raygun being totally op the server is making lots more money.
    And also with c4 only reason I bought it was to boss in infect because it was way op.
    I think it's fine how it is.

    Both of you pose good points. sure the ray gun gets the server money but its obnocious when theres a cluster of 5 people spamming ray guns in infect.

    I just think that the explosion should be removed all together, I think that not needing to aim due to the shot speed being so fast is enough...

    Really hope this gets added! I even have the ray-gun and think its unfair, that's why I tend to use the LAW in infect. I know the LAW still has an explosion but doesn't have the speed that the ray-gun does.

    Yes plz, I want the AOE to be removed so bad.
    The server was doing fine and making about the same amount of money before c4 and Ray-Gun. :V

    I think the explosion is the only thing that makes it useful.
    In any other mode than infect, I can never get a dead-on hit and have to resort to shooting the ground to kill them with splash.

    Yes please! This would make infect so much better! The ray gun is so overpowered in infect. You would actually have to aim using the ray! It's a +1 from me.
