I was playing infect today and the root zombie was afk. Unfortunately, this has happened many times before (either the root zombie is afk, or rage quits) and results in a player needing to suicide to continue the game and depending on the map, that can be somewhat difficult to do. I know there is not much to do for an afk player but as for people who rage when they're the root zombie I have a solution. So BEFORE the game starts the server could randomly pick and then announce the root zombie along with the map and gamemode. This way if someone was going to disconnect because they're the root, they could do so prior to the match without wasting game time, and then another player could be randomly picked and it could save time in the actual game. This idea is simply to just let the players know who the root zombie will be before the actual match starts.
