But there is another wrinkle in this whole argument. In May, Mojang launched Minecraft Realms, a service allowing PC and Mac owners to set up their own private servers for up to 20 friends. The service costs £8 a month and is being touted as "the easiest way for you to host a Minecraft world online." Some members of the Minecraft server community suspect that Mojang's EULA enforcement, coming just a month after the Realms release, is a way to drive users toward its own product. A blogpost written by server provider Towncraft states:

If this EULA clarification was really about protecting players, Mojang would have stepped in against “pay-to-win” servers a long time before their Minecraft Realms service popped on the scene [...] Mark my words… Mojang can only sell so many copies of Minecraft before they need to find another way to monetize it. Realms was just a start.

Mojang's Nathan Adams has rebutted this on Twitter, suggesting that there is no comparison between a service that provides small groups of friends with a private server, and a larger business that provides custom content, maps and mini-games. However, as within any online games community, conspiracy theories are rife, and many feel that Realms is a Trojan horse for a more ambitious multiplayer offering from Mojang – one that would directly compete with Mineplex et al.

So what happens now? We asked Mojang for comment, but the company did not get back to us. It has given server provides until 1 August to comply with the EULA and remove features that charge players for skill items and ranks – however balanced they may be.

EULA is not going to happen. Mojang is not enforcing it.

    Link please.

I think the EULA change is to boost Realms, honestly. I think Realms was a huge failure, and so they are shutting down servers to promote realms. This is my opinion, but I think that the reason they are doing this "to crack down on P2W servers" is complete poop.

If they wanted to shut down servers they would take out multiplayer.

But dats too obvious. Dey gotta be all sneaky like, and be like "Oh, your favorite part of Minecraft just went down? I'm so sorry! But hey! Look! We have an oddly timed new feature to get us even MORE money! Come give your money to us! Not them!"

At this time, about 16m people have bought minecraft. The majority of them will play multiplayer, or have came to minecraft for multiplayer. This number will increase as long as minecraft multiplayer is still up. If they enforce this rule, minecraft's sales will begin to diminish, because how many people do you know play minecraft only for single player. Minecraft costs $20 for only one purchase, so MOJANG has made about $320,000,000 just off of minecraft. If you wish to play offline, minecraft is free.

If MOJANG really wants to make money, they could just create a rule making it so that 10%-30% of all server sales goes to them. Minecraft keeps selling, and MOJANG makes money off of each and every purchase.

EULA is an absolutely retarded way of making money, and will not net them much money. I doubt they will enforce this rule.

The EULA is goong to get inforced, if they're forcing people to use Minecraft Realms, it's not going to work considering you need to pay instead of going on your favorite servers with your friends free of charge.

I really doubt that this EULA will actually be enforced.
It's not doing anyone any good! :V

But it is directly related to war as we do have donor items. it's fine to keep here but I put it in war because of the effect it has on war players

This. The EULA affects McBrawl as a whole, not just Mc-War, as Luke said.

In the words of Putty "I ain't even worried". Neither am I. Should they shut down McBrawl, I'll make a petition on the website to reopen it.

If Mojang enforces the EULA, then almost all the servers in Minecraft will die out because who is going to buy a cosmetic item? A lot of people want to buy something that makes them feel pretty powerful, in this case with no items that make you powerful. No one is going to buy it. Mojang enforces this, it's going to be their loss for doing so. Unless they change it.
