McBrawl Moderator Application: Before starting this application, I would like to point out that I know that there’s already a handful of new Mc-War mods, but, I feel like Mc-War needs the most attention at the moment considering how the new 2.0 update is going to come out soon and because the Mc-War community has gotten little on the bad side lately. I would also like to say that if this application gets accepted or denied, I will not stop playing on McBrawl’s servers. Let’s get this application started.

Are you active and helpful on our servers, forums, and Teamspeak? – Yes, yes, and yes. I am an all-around active member on all required fields. I recently hit 500+ posts on the forums, I am on TeamSpeak 3 whenever I am playing in-game, and I am on Mc-War during most of my free time after school (During the weekends, I can play whenever I feel like it). I almost always have my browser open on the McBrawl forums and if I’m not playing online with players, I just tend to chill on TeamSpeak 3 a lot.

Approximately, how many rule breaker reports have you submitted? – I honestly do not know, but I am certain that I have submitted less than 10, probably around 7-9, if I were to guess. One huge responsibility of being a moderator is being able to record and report hackers quickly and easily. Coming from McPvP, I am fairly used to seeing hackers in-game every so often and can easily differentiate a normal player and a hacker. I am used to seeing hackers every so often and recognizing if they are hacking or not. I record with DxTory and render with Sony Vegas, these programs allow me to record and render out videos easily whenever I please, which means I can easily upload hackers on to YouTube (unlisted) and report them.

How old are you? – I am 14; my birthday is on August 21. Remember, age < maturity. No matter what age you are, maturity is always an important aspect to have.

What time zone are you in? – Central Time Zone; US.

What is your experience and knowledge of Minecraft? – I started playing minecraft during Beta 1.8 and have been playing all the way up until the current 1.7.x update. I know all the vanilla/some bukkit commands, I know all the crafting recipes, and I know some of the most popular minecraft servers/youtubers. I generally know how the aspects of minecraft work, like the things you can and can’t do. In other words, I know enough about minecraft already.

Here is proof of how long I’ve had my minecraft account.

What is your experience with moderating servers? – These are a few servers I was a staff member on…

    EzPvP: Supervisor & Moderator.

For those of you that don’t know, EzPvP was Phinary’s kit PvP server. On November of 2011, I decided to apply for Supervisor and got accepted about a week later, after a few months I eventually got promoted to Moderator. Please keep in mind that I was 11 when I was a Moderator on a server, coming back to my point that it doesn’t matter what age you are, maturity is always the answer. EzPvP was full of hackers, DDoS threats and spam bots, I ended up banning about 5-7 hackers daily, it was ridiculous. Anyways, the only reason I stayed with EzPvP is because of the community. My number one duty on there was to make sure hackers don’t ruin players’ experiences. EzPvP was shut down around October 2012 because of Phinary’s education, university > minecraft.

Here is proof that I was a staff member on EzPvP, taken from this video.

    SupremeKits: Moderator.

As the ‘Kits’ in the name “SupremeKits” suggests, this is another kit PvP server. I applied on here around May of 2012 and got accepted a week or so later, just like on EzPvP. My main job on Supreme was to; be friendly to players, saying stuff like “Welcome to the server! Do /kits to get started” or: “Use /warp 1v1 to 1v1 players, remember, no FFA!” and banning a few hackers. Though there were little to no hackers on supreme, I did run into a few every so often. I eventually resigned Supreme because I found out that the staff was DDoSing other kit PvP servers for a bigger player count.

Unfortunately, I could not find any old screenshots of when I was a moderator on SupremeKits, you're just going to have to take my word for it.

McAction: Trial Moderator, Moderator, & Mod+.

McAction was the last server I was staff on. McAction was a server like McBrawl’s PvP Survival, except it had a few kits thrown in there, people often referred to McAction as a “Hardcore Kit” server. My main job on here was to supervise with a few admins and owners. By supervise, I mean building new spawns and adding new rules when needed. Like SupremeKits, I eventually resigned off McAction but for a different reason – I realized that the owners were corrupt; they spent server donations on new steam games and demoted their staff for no reason, let’s not get into that.

Similar to SupremeKits, I could not find any screenshots of when I was a staff member on McAction, sorry.

What will you provide to the community if you are provided moderator status? – As I said at the start of this application; I’m noticing that the Mc-War community is slowly getting worse and worse. The hackusations, the name calling and the disrespect on the servers are at an all-time high. If I were to become a moderator, I would:

    · Ensure that the chat is clean. – Hushing annoying players up so regular players don’t have to put up with them by giving them warnings, telling them to calm down, etc.

    · Be friendly to the community. – From experience, I’ve realized if you’re nice to players, it impacts them greatly; it could even change their personality.

    · Enforce Rules. – As you guys know, Mc-War has a variety of rules, but I see a lot of players breaking these whenever there isn’t any staff on the server. Even the simplest rules in Mc-War are being broken by players that think they can do anything, and this needs to stop.

Have you ever used a hacked client before? – I’m going to be completely honest here; yes. I used to use Nodus a year or two ago back around the version 1.0. Although I’m not proud of it, I got banned off of several random servers for using hacks such as x-ray, forcefield, and autosoup. I’ve changed since then and have not used a hacked client ever since. On the bright side, now I know what hacked clients are capable of doing; therefore helping me know whether a person is using a client or not faster.

Have you ever been banned on a Minecraft server? If so, why? – As I said in the previous question, yes. I got banned off of random servers I hacked on that I found on PlanetMineCraft, but that’s in the past. I’ve changed since then and have become a better person because of it. There have been instances in the past where I've gotten banned unfairly because of a weird rule or because of a bad staff member, but, I don’t really count those moments as being banned because I did nothing wrong.

How active do you consider yourself in-game?
    – I consider my in-game activity excellent; I am on McBrawl’s servers whenever I have spare time. During the weekdays, I am on about 1-2 hours and during the weekend; I am on about 2-3 hours at a time.

How active do you consider yourself on TS3? – I consider my TeamSpeak 3 activity great, I’ve been on McBrawl’s Team Speak 3 server for about a month now and I’ve been there ever since. Whenever I’m playing on McBrawl’s servers, chances are that you’ll find me on TeamSpeak 3; I’m always on it now whenever I’m playing. If you don’t see me on TeamSpeak 3, it might be because of time zones, but other than that, I think my Team Speak 3 activity is pretty good.

How active do you consider yourself on the forums? – I consider my forums activity extremely high, although I don’t have an insane amount of posts, I am on the forums every chance I get during the day.

What do you consider your greatest strength? – My greatest strength is being calm. I’m very relaxed, especially when it comes to being a staff member. For example, I have to deal with my horrible internet every day, but that doesn’t stop me from playing on McBrawl and having a good time. Even when I get stressed, I just break my problems apart and deal with them one by one. There’s nothing you can’t do if you relax and think for a moment.

What do you consider your greatest weakness? – My greatest weakness is wasting time. If I’m dedicated to something, I will not stop reaching for the goal I am trying to achieve until I get it. In my case, time wasting could actually benefit to my situation. I tend to waste all my time (not in a bad way) on McBrawl, just to pass the time whenever I have nothing to do. Being a moderator could actually give me something productive to do. I would get to pass the time on McBrawl and do my job.

How would you handle someone making a minor transgression for the first time?
    – Let’s say someone is spamming in this situation. If I saw a person spamming in chat I would /msg them privately and tell them something along the lines of “<player>, please stop spamming” or “Please stop spamming the chat.” I would make sure that I say it nicely and not rudely, so the person does not do it again, angering players will make things worse. It’s just a tiny bit of spam, nothing a warning can’t fix, kicking or temp-banning in this situation is going too far.

How would you handle the same person doing it again a second time? – Afterwards, if I saw the same person spamming again, I would mute them without warning, because they have already been fairly warned and kept doing it. I would also take the chance to screenshot the event in which the person was spamming in, just in case I needed proof further along the line.

How would you handle that person doing it again for the third time? – At this point, the player has gone too far. They've received a fair warning; they've been muted after doing it again, and then spammed again after they've been muted for it. This time, the player has earned a kick form the server. After that, if they came on the server and spammed yet again, I would temp ban them from the server and report them with the evidence I got from earlier.

What is your reaction if someone publicly proves you wrong on the forums? – First of all, I’ve been proven wrong several times on the forums by both staff and regular members. I do not mind people telling me that I did something wrong, as long as they don’t flame me about it. I (generally) learn something new every day, whether or not it’s about McBrawl. Anyways, back on topic, if I were to be proven wrong, I would thank the person that disproved me and possibly edit my post if necessary.

What would you do when someone breaks a rule on the forums? – If someone broke a rule on the forums I would:
    1. Use the report button so an s-mod/admin can delete it.
    2. Send them a private message (conversation) to clarify that they cannot do whatever they did on the forums.
    3. Get an s-mod/admin to help if the problem gets out of control.

When would you lock a thread? – I would lock a thread if:
    • It has gone off topic.
    • It was a duplicate thread. (Links of the others provided)
    • Grave digging has occurred.
    • A flame war has begun.
    • It has been requested by the author of the thread to be locked.
If any illegal activity (like DDoS or Dox, for example) was posted on the forums, I would immediately report it to an s-mod or admin to remove it, because locking the thread would do no good.

Describe yourself in 3 words: Tranquil, dependable and amiable.

Anything else we should know about you? – Not really, but, if you have any questions about me, feel free to ask and I will gladly answer you. All the things you need to know about me are in this thread.

Situation: A player is out of the map on MC-WAR. What are the steps that you would take to ensure that this player and situation is properly dealt with? – If a player in Mc-War was OOM, I would calmly and politely tell them in /msg that they cannot go OOM because it’s a rule that you have to follow. I would /msg them something along the lines of “Please get back in the map, <player>” or “Do /spawn or suicide, you shouldn’t be OOM.” If the player does not follow instructions, I would kick them after a period of time, depending on how long they've been OOM for.

Do you generally know how all the plugins and commands work? – Yes, I basically know all the commands Mc-War has to offer. You also get mute, kick, and tempban permissions with moderator, and I know how those commands work.

Do you realize that if you are disrespectful or abuse your power, your power will be taken away? – Yes, I completely understand. The only thing that comes out of abusing your powers is hate. I’ve never abused my staff powers on any servers before, and I plan to keep it that way.

    Hello Chopo,
You have made a great application, you're active in game, ts and forums.
The only thing stopping you from getting mod is that there are a good amount of war mods. Other than that it seems you would be fit for the job!
    Good luck!

    Application : +1
Your application is fairly detailed and you answered all the questions with a good amount of information. From reading your application, I can see that you put a lot of time into your application.
    In-Game Activity :
    +1
I constantly see you online whenever I play War. While you are online, you are respectful and helpful. You don't rage and you never swear or use caps.
    TeamSpeak 3 :
    +1
I see you on TeamSpeak quite a lot. However, it seems like you mainly stick to private channels. If you are accepted as a moderator, you would need to come out of the private channels and talk to players in the public channels. When I do talk to you on TeamSpeak, you are mature, kind and helpful.
    Overall :
    +1
As Lava said, it may be a problem that quite a few War mods have been accepted recently.
    Good luck!

    Chopo,
This was a great surprise, not saying it was bad.
One of the things that I think is that you should of applied for PvP :/
This is a hard vote for me, as I rarely see you on Teamspeak.
+0 for now. I might change it c:

Thank you for your constructive criticism. You might not see me on TS because of time zones, I'm pretty sure I'm fairly active on it. Other than that, thanks for your vote, I hope you change it.

Your application is very well written, but you seem to struggle in some areas. I don't see you on teamspeak much at all, this could be because of time zones. I've seen you be rude in chat once or twice in the past 2 days, but with that being said you are becoming more mature and your very active. Your at 600+ forum post which is good. I'm going with +0 for now.

To be honest, I've been on and off teamspeak for the past week because of school, but I've still been active on it, as you said, it's probably time zones. I also don't recall being rude to players in the chat, hit me up with a PM and we'll talk about it.

You are around the forums plenty. I see you on TeamSpeak here and there. You are rather rude on TeamSpeak and on the forums at times. It is not extreme, but rather a state of degrading them.
Well written application. Several parts you tend to dawdle off to talk of unnecessary things.
+0. You have a chance. Work on your approach to other players. Try and be helpful as often as possible.
