This is a side story to The Battlefront. That can be found here.

Credit to @rainywolvess for the names, she helped me when I couldn't think of any. Thanks ^_^
Any extra names will be used in the next part btw

The huge conflict wasn't just soldiers vs soldiers on the battlefield. It turned into corruption, protests, and much much more. This followed the single nuclear strike by the Confederacy, then by the ensuing nuclear conflict.

One particular soldier, PFC Alex Lexton, had his doubts about the military.
He had just heard that Beta Squad, a squad that he had worked with prior to the invasion, was missing. And yet the military had no plans to start a search operation.
He kept questioning the leaders of the military, until he finally requested to talk with the commander. They reluctantly allowed him to.

And that's where he found himself, in a expensive car headed to the government building where the military commander currently was.
As soon as they reached the building, Alex was escorted by two special forces soldiers, who had dark armor and sunglasses, as well as SCAR-H carbines.
Heading into the building, he was directed to the office of the commander, then his escorts left. Opening the door, Alex found the commander sitting in a desk.
    "Greetings, Mr. Lexton."
Without waiting for a response from Lexton, he went on.
"So from what I've heard, you're questioning what happened to Beta Squad, right?"
    "Yes," Alex replied.
"Well," the commander responded, "they were sent to investigate a suspicious factory. This factory was rumored to have nuclear weaponry in it. Judging by the recent nuclear strikes, I believe they failed and were all captured or killed. There were also rumors of a more deadly weapon in there. However, if they did find this mystery weapon, they would have been captured or killed, since the nuclear weapons were launched. I'm sorry Lexton, but it's too risky to go and search for them."
"Yes sir, I understand," he responded slowly and quietly.
    "Then, you are dismissed soldier."
    "Yes sir."
Alex left the room. However, he decided to lurk near the room and listen in. He could faintly hear sounds, something being taken out. Then, he heard the commander speak, very quietly.
"The soldier PFC Lexton suspects too much regarding the.... disappearance of Beta Squad. Make sure he doesn't leave this building alive."
Lexton found himself shocked. In this time, he didn't notice the commander walking out of his room. The commander quickly spotted him.
"What... DIE!" he quickly said before pulling out a small handgun. Alex instantly recognized it as a USP .45. Knowing that one shot would probably kill him quickly, he lunged for the pistol. This caught the commander by surprise briefly, and caused him to lose his balance. However, he was able to maneuver the gun away from Lexton, before punching him in the face.
"Die, you son of a-" he managed to get out before Lexton regained his balance and punched the commander in the gut.
He then shoved the commander down. However, the commander rolled away from his second punch and grabbed him by his shirt collar, dragging him towards the window of the commander's office, which was on the 10th floor.
But Lexton was able to regain control before it was too late, and tripped the commander. However, the commander took this opportunity to grab his USP .45. Lexton grabbed the commander's gun hand before he could shoot Lexton. The gun instead shot out the glass of the window. However, Lexton was hit by a knee in the gut. His breath knocked out of him, Lexton fell to the ground, and the commander grabbed him, preparing to throw him to his death 10 stories down.
If I don't do something soon, I'm f*cked! he thought. But then he saw the reflection of a small boot knife in the commander's pants sleeve. He grabbed at that, and stabbed the commander in the leg. Then, Lexton quickly threw the commander out the window.
Shoot, lost the gun. Lexton thought, before hearing footsteps.
Outgunned and outmatched, Lexton's only option was to hide in the office. Finding a large cabinet, he hid behind that, waiting for the perfect chance. That came when only 1 guard walked into the room. This particular guard looked eager to kill Lexton, by the evil smile on his face. No mercy for him then, Lexton thought. He silently moved from his hiding spot, then lunged at the guard from behind. However, he turned around. Surprised, he knocked Lexton away. However, he wasn't fast enough to recover, and Lexton stabbed him with the boot knife.

However, killing the guard made sound, and Lexton heard voices getting slowly louder in the hallway that the commander's office was in. He quickly locked the room and moved a table in front in an attempt to make a hasty barricade. Then, he took equipment and weaponry from the dead guard. This included a M4A1, a classic M1911 handgun, a grenade, ammunition, and a knife. He also took the guard's helmet, which included sunglasses to cover his eyes.
The door began banging, and Lexton aimed the M4 at the door, thumbing the safety and switching to fully automatic fire. The door came down with a small C4 explosion, and a soldier with a SPAS-12 came in, only to receive several deadly bullets to the chest. Continuing to fire, Lexton took out the few guards behind him, before tossing a grenade to eliminate anyone nearby.
After, he quickly looted the bodies, managing to salvage a M249 SAW and surprisingly, a M203 grenade launcher. Hearing footsteps coming up, Alex knew that he wouldn't last long if he stayed here. Attaching the grenade launcher to his M4, he then shot at the floor in front of the door. Using that as a chance to get away, he moved down through the debris, killing anyone that was still moving. Finally, Alex was able to get to the bottom floor, only to be met with sudden gunfire. Knowing he couldn't take all the soldiers shooting at him at once, Alex ran to the nearest exit. There, he found a motorcycle with 2 guards protecting it. He downed them both with his M4, before getting on and finding the keys, conveniently in the motorcycle. At that exact moment, the soldiers shooting at him earlier came through the exit. Alex threw his grenade at the structure on top of the door, effectively blocking it off. Then, he made his escape.
It was dusk when he was attacked, by 2 helicopters. Both of them, attack choppers.
"Sh*t!" he said to himself. Running over to the SAW, he targeted the left chopper first, spraying the bullets into the cockpit. Eventually he hit the pilot and the chopper fell into the dark seas next to the road he was driving on. However, there was still the second chopper to deal with, and the SAW seemed like it was overheating. It was now firing rockets at him, and each rocket was gradually getting closer and closer. Suddenly, Alex had an idea. Pulling out his M4A1, he aimed it quickly at the helicopter, and shot a M203 shell directly at the rotors. The helicopter instantly exploded, spinning out of control and crashing behind him. Alex looked back briefly, but he had no time to think about it, for he knew that he had to get out of there.
Crossing a stretch of terrain, he found himself in the Confederacy's land....

    To be concluded #soon.
