I haven't been active in a while, sorry about that. But recently I've been playing a bit of Minecraft on my friend's computer. I tried out Mineplex (Castle Siege is quite fun) but I noticed that they opened up a new Minestrike Beta server. I tried it out, and I was quite impressed. It borrows mechanics from MC-War but incorporates new ideas. Here are some:

    Player nametags are invisible.
I'm not sure how they did this, but this is a great idea IMO. Important aspects of Call of Duty are trying to sneak up on or flank the enemy undetected. However, this isn't really possible if you have obvious indications of the enemy's location. However, by removing nametags, new tactics are possible, such as more effective flanking. For example, sneaking around a corner to surprise you enemy is a lot easier. It also adds an aspect if stealth, introducing new "ninja"-like styles of play.

    Shotgun reloading is more realistic.
In Minestrike, the time reloading a shotgun depends on how much ammo is left. For example, if your shotgun has 7 out of 8 shells, then reloading is much quicker than if it were completely empty. This gives a much-needed buff to most shotguns. This can also applied to guns that do not use a magazine-feed system, such as revolver-type guns.

Snipers have a unique scoping system.
In Minestrike aiming is done by crouching. Although this may seem odd, the slow walking speed is not very different to the current system used in MC-War. Snipers (or any other scoped weapon) have a unique scope. When scoped in, a scope-like reticule (retextured pumpkin head effect) is displayed on the screen, and zooms the screen in significantly (much greater than in MC-War; probably 3-4x). During this, the player is automatically equipped with a retextured pumpkin head to procure the visual head, and automatically switched to a proper leather helmet when not in use. This addition is worth consideration as it will (1) Allow tsnipers to more effectively pick off long-range targets. (2) Prevent snipers from being a mobile, blindingly-fast quickscope close-combat weapon. tallscot's ancient videos of using an Isolator in FFA is good proof. (3) Provides more realism and emphasizes key roles of a sniper - stealth, long-range combat. (4) With enough skill, snipers will still be viable in close range. I have seen many pro quickscopers in Minestrike. I tried my best explaining this system, but you should try it out yourself to understand better.

    Sprinting decreases accuracy.
Though weapons in Minestrike have decent hipfire accuracy, it promoted excessive levels of mobility. To prevent this "run-and-gun" playstyle, sprinting greatly diminishes accuracy. This emphasizes range advantages - shotguns, which are usually unaffected by accuracy, will have greater mobility at the cost of range, while other weapons can hit from greater distances. This also creates ideas for new perks, such as one that reduces the inaccuracy effects while sprinting.

    Small lobbies.
Minestrike has small lobbies, with each having a player cap of 16. This coincides with real Call-of-Duty, which has lobby sizes of a similar number. Usually I avoid server one on MC-War because the immense amount of players caused significant lag, and it was just total chaos. Maybe some players enjoy this, but some don't. However, having a small amount of players allows additions such as:
    • Weapon Drops.
A real feature on Mineplex's Minestrike, players can pick up weapons and grenades that have been dropped by players. Each weapon has it's own details. including the amount of ammo left and the original owner's name. Therefore, it is possible to find weapons without any ammo in them. Scavenger packs can be implemented in this manner as well, like in recent Call of Duty titles. The problem of this idea being utilized in large lobbies such as MC-War's is that many players will be dying at the same time, leading to the map being littered and spammed with HUGE amounts of item drops, potentially causing lag.
    • Locally broadcast gun sounds.
While can't be spotted with name tags, Minestrike allows players to hear others. When someone fires a gun, it can be heard from most of the map, allowing tactical decisions and maneuvers. In MC-War, though, only sniper sounds are broadcast. However, this feature cannot be used in current MC-War servers; there are simply too much people. The sound of 40-60 gun firing at the same time will make you ears bleed. Smaller lobbies can bypass this problem.

-And finally a change that I thought of on my own.-

    Combining perks.

Having a single perk isn't very effective at all. That is why most perks, such as Marathon or Hardline, are almost never used in favor of more useful ones such as Scavenger or Sleight of Hand. By combining perks, players can make full use of these bonuses. For example, a mobility-focused setup might include Speed and Marathon. Zombies, whose objectives are to run into the fray and kill as many people as possible, might want to take Martyrdom and Juggernaut to maximize their damage output. There are a large variety of combinations, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. However, with the rennovation of the store system, this idea may not be viable yet.

Damn, that was a long post! But thanks for reading. I don't want to pressure anyone, I was just inspired and wanted to write my thoughts down for future keeping. Disclaimer: I am not advertising or intending to advertise Mineplex; I just used it as a point of reference.

Invisible Nametags - That's too overkill. Perhaps just make enemy nametags like Minestrike.

Scoping System - While I agree this would bring Mc-War to closer of a CoD clone, this idea wasn't accepted when suggested before because a pumpkin suddenly appearing on multiple players' heads would seem really weird/derpy to non texture pack users.

Sprinting = Decrease in Accuracy - Not really sure about this. It would probably be heavily unpopular with a lot of players.

Small Lobbies - I like this idea. Perhaps unfavorable for nuke-happy players, but at least it could potentially bring more balance to War.

Weapon Drops - There are some faults to this idea. For starters, you would be able to use guns you haven't unlocked yet very frequently, including the donor weapons. Plus, I'm not so keen of someone getting stacks of ammo with a Minigun. As you could frequently pick up a lot of ammo every kill, this would render Scavenger partially useless.

Local Broadcast Sounds - Sure, why not?

Multiple Perks - The only problem is how op some perks combos would be. To balance this, only certain perks should be allowed to be combined (i.e. Marathon and Matyrdom).

Ive had the sniper scope as an idea for a looong time now, always tought it would be hard to code though (for warZ) cause u need to have a pumpkin on ur head.

Some of these are fine, some have been suggested before and some would break the game. However, I do agree on scoping and name tags. Player count is being nerfed in the update (me).

Most of them seem really nice ideas. But the weapon drop isn't a good idea as people can use donor guns, guns above their lvl. On hypixel everybody can get the same gun in 1 round So that's why that works

Already know a server that implements a crouching system to snipe / aim but it will show your name tag.

Woah, those are some very good ideas. I like all of them except the combining perks.

    • Player name tags being invisible is good normally. However, it makes it a lot harder to target people on high kill streaks, thus making it easier for them. -1
    • Shotgun reloading should only work for the shotguns with shells. In addition you should be able to reload cancel if there is an enemy. That would be pretty cool. Also, instead of just reload time, actually have each shell chambered in, which means the capacity in the chamber going up by 1 gradually. +1
    • Sniper scoping system is meh, because it would be very annoying for those without the pack. Plus additional zoom is impossible unless you're fine with being unable to move at all while aiming. -1
    • Sprinting decreasing accuracy is both realistic and a thing in CoD. Don't see why not. +1
    • Small lobbies is good. But more servers would be needed then. +1
    • Weapon drops could be okay. But I'm meh with the idea. I think it would be OP if you could pick up weapons repeatedly to easily get a nuke, since it isn't Battlefield. If this was a Battlefield servers without score streaks I'd be fine, but otherwise no. +/-0
    • Weapon sounds that can be heard is something I've suggested before. So obviously, I'd want to see this. +1
    • Combining perks would be OP unless there were tiered perks based on how useful something is. And even then it couldn't be used often since perks are donor exclusive.

I like shotgun reloading, invisible nametags, combining perks, and weapon drops except that needs tweaking due to the lag it would cause, however to the sniping mechanic I say maybe. As you know @griffy718 anyone with basic knowledge of textures could insert a blank pumpkinblur.png with the right dimensions and rapidly shift then right click for nearly the same quickscoping action (arguably easier)
