McBrawl Moderator Application:


Well here I am, once again. It turns out that Highschool isn’t very hard after all, so I have some free time to moderate. I hope you enjoy reading this application!

Are you active and helpful on our servers, forums, and Teamspeak? –
*Servers- I am very active on fpsHG at the moment. I usually hop on for a few hours each day to play and help the other players. I’ve noticed a lot of players online that ask questions but no one ever answers them. If a player asks about the texture pack I’ll answer with, “teawithchoco, use /texture to get the fpsHG texturepack.”
*Forums- I am currently becoming more and more active on the forums, as I am very close to reaching 2,000 posts. I try to help anyone that needs help on the forums. Usually it’s about appealing ban or purchasing items from the Shop page.
*TeamSpeak- I am working on my TS3 activity, but it will increase tremendously within the next few weeks. Whenever someone has a question I try to answer it with the best of my ability.
Approximately, how many rule breaker reports have you submitted? -
I’d say around 20 or so rule breaker reports. I haven’t submitted any reports recently. There haven’t been too many advertisers or hackers on fpsHG that I’ve seen overall. Most of my old reports are because of advertisers on all servers.
How old are you? –
I am currently fourteen years old, turning fifteen on May 22, 2015. I know I’ve said I was fourteen in the past, but I am really fourteen. I just wanted a chance at achieving my dream goal. I have since learned that lying on an application is not good, in fact it is only hurting your chances at getting the position.
What time zone are you in? –
I am in the Eastern Time Zone. I live in Upper Michigan, so my internet may not be as good as others sadly.
What is your experience and knowledge of Minecraft? –
I have been playing Minecraft since June of 2012. I started with singleplayer and finally decided to go onto multiplayer. That’s how I eventually found McBrawl in late 2012. I happened to see the Mc-War ad on McPvP and joined. I was instantly hooked. Look where I am now!
What is your experience with moderating servers? –
*Chalex- Back when the 1.6 snapshots came out, I discovered a multiplayer server called Chalex. I played around the server and got to know the owners well and was granted Moderator/Administrator because I was so active. I dealt with advertisers, spammers, and griefers in my time on the server. Eventually the server was shut down because of lack of funding.
*McBrawl- On August 10th, 2014 I was accepted as a PvP Survival moderator on McBrawl. (Sound familiar?) A few weeks after my promotion I was given WarZ moderator from Chickenputty. I can’t seem to find any screenshots of that though. I’m sure a few members remember! Anyway, a month or so after my promotion to WarZ mod, I traded WarZ for Mc-War Mod because War needed more mods. Fast forward about 3 months, I had my War rank removed because I went a bit inactive for a few weeks. I started to pick up my activity and I was given War mod back.
Then one day an awesome server was released called fpsHG. I was instantly addicted so I decided to trade my War mod for fpsHG mod. I stayed active for a few weeks when all of a sudden (deep regrets incoming) another community decided to go around saying that McBrawl copied their HG with Guns server. A few staff members had already commented on the thread on their forums. I decided to defend the McBrawl coders, saying that this was a completely original idea (which it was,) After a few hours the owner of the server replied and pretty much crapped on McBrawl and its coders. Foolishly, I decided to go around their forums proclaiming that “MCBRAWL IS THE BEST SERVER EVER!”
After that incident I was then demoted to trial mod and only had PvP mod. And then, on august 3rd, 2014; I was demoted for inactivity. I really let myself down. I left Brawl for a month after my demotion. But now I am back and better than ever. I am here to redeem myself.
What will you provide to the community if you are provided moderator status? –
As I have before when I was mod, I will provide a fun but controlled environment for players. That’s why players liked me when I moderated. I actually talk to other players unlike most moderators. But when fun gets out of hand, I mean business.
Have you ever used a hacked client before? –
Yes. I’ve used hacked clients for testing on my friend’s server. I have learned how to spot a hacker from the player’s behavior. I have never used one on McBrawl or any other public server.
Have you ever been banned on a Minecraft server? If so, why? -
No, I try to stay as clean as possible on servers. I am aware that there are younger members of some Minecraft communities.
How active do you consider yourself in-game? –
On a scale of 1 to 10, I’d say 8.5. I really can only play a few hours on select nights because of homework. But I am as active as I possibly can be on weekends.
How active do you consider yourself on TS3? –
On a scale of 1 to 10, I’d say 8. I’m usually on TS3 when I’m on the servers, so my activity is close to the same. My TS activity is a little low currently, but will improve in the next weeks. (Keep this in mind!)
How active do you consider yourself on the forums? –
On a scale of 1 to 10, I’d say 9. I am getting more and more active every day on the forums. I almost have 2,000 posts! The forums provide so much information about servers and players that I could never have a better source.
What do you consider your greatest strength? –
The forums are my biggest strength. The bond between me and the community is great because of the forums. I will never leave; it has become a routine of daily life for me.
What do you consider your greatest weakness? -
Peer pressure has been my weakness for some time now. I try not to give in, but it sometimes gets me. Sometimes peer pressure leads to trust issues. I put a lot of trust into some people. They usually never let me down.
How would you handle someone making a minor transgression for the first time? –
It really depends on the situation.
If the player is insulting another player, I’d give him or her one warning.
If the player is spamming stuff, I’d give them one warning.
If the player is using a lot of vulgar language, I’d give them two warnings.
If the player is advertising, I’d ban for one hour and report it to an SMOD to lengthen the ban.
How would you handle the same person doing it again a second time? –
If the player is insulting another player, I’d give the person doing the flaming a kick.
If the player is spamming, I’d give them a kick.
If the player is using vulgar, I’d give them one last warning.
How would you handle that person doing it again for the third time? -
If the player is insulting another player, I’d give them a temp ban of thirty minutes.
If the player is spamming, I’d give them a ban of thirty minutes.
If the player is using vulgar, I’d kick them. If that continues I’ll issue a ban for thirty minutes.
What is your reaction if someone publicly proves you wrong on the forums? –
I usually tell them, “Hey, thanks for the heads up. I didn’t realize this!”
It’s always good to learn from your mistakes!
What would you do when someone breaks a rule on the forums? –
*Porn- If the post contains porn, I’ll remove the post right away and contact an SMOD or Administrator to issue a ban for the user.
*Flaming- I’d issue a warning to the user and show them the forums rules; and if it’s a big flamewar I’d lock the thread too.
When would you lock a thread? -
I would lock a thread when it contains…..
*Anything involving DDoS/DOX
*Porn
*Gore
*Flaming
*Answered questions
*Double posted
*Another post may be more detailed, but is the same idea

Anything else we should know about you? –
I guess you guys can probably figure out that I feel terrible about the incident with the other server forums. I now realize that it was a super stupid thing to do. That incident also has positives. I have learned to watch what I say if it may offend others. I hope everyone else can learn from my mistakes.
I am also a Boy Scout. I am currently a Life Scout, one step away from reaching eagle. I am dedicated to achieving that goal.
I currently have a 4.0 GPA. I am a Freshman right now. I actually enjoy school unlike others.
Situation: A player is out of the map on MC-WAR. What are the steps that you would take to ensure that this player and situation is properly dealt with? –
*Step One: If the map we will be playing contains known OOM spots, I will enter a message in the chat like, “Anyone outside of the map will be kicked!” I may say this a few times, 60 seconds before the round begins and right as the round starts so players will see it.
*Step Two: If any players go out of the map I will kick them on the spot.
I used the above method when I had Mc-War mod. They were warned about it before, so if they do it, easy kick.
Do you generally know how all the plugins and commands work? –
Yes. I learned about all of the commands and plugins as my time as a moderator here at McBrawl.
Do you realize that if you are disrespectful or abuse your power, your power will be taken away? –
Yes, I’ve seen a few players get demoted because of abuse or disrespect. That is a very disappointing way to get demoted, if not the worst way possible.
