    I think that threads who are considered duplicates (if it has been suggested before) should be locked and ratings should cleared from the OP as well.
    I think it is unfair for people to farm ratings by posting duplicate stuff and not giving a damn credit to the author of the idea itself. I have seen this happen too many times to my very own ideas.

    With this done, we will essentially enforce more creative decisions among the community.

    Your thread has zero relation to this.
    You gave me credit, therefore your thread doesn't need to be locked. You linked the thread I did.

    Threads without credit to the author of the original idea will be locked, though.

    A warning should be given first. If the user does the same thing again, have their ratings reset. Still, good idea.

    This was first intended to prevent people from copying each other.
    My heart hurts every time I see a thread in which a user has suggested something I did before him/her.
    Could also lead to more original ideas.
