    You cannot place C4's in the new (gm3) adventure mode. This is because adventure mode disables the placing and breaking of any blocks. I'm not sure if you can edit which blocks you can place in the gamemode, but that's the only way I think you can fix it rather than changing back to survival mode.

    I also believe explosions are not visible due to the Adventure Mode.

    There is a way to use command blocks to allow the lever to be placed on certain blocks...
