Technology Upgrading computer

    I'm guessing I'm one of the few who hasn't updated to 1.8 because according to statistics 80% of people play on that version, and that is because I suffer from extreme lag (plays smooth for 2 seconds, freezes for 7 and so on) in both single player and multiplayer. I have installed Optifine and set my settings to the most efficient as possible but the issue is still there. This leaves me to my final option which is upgrading my current computer. I never really had an issue running a computer with "minimal" specs to play Minecraft on 1.7, but it seems 1.8 might require at least "recommended" specs. Here is my computer specs.

    My question is, would upgrading my RAM resolve my issue? Thanks in advance.

    Getting more ram wouldn't necessarily fix it, but 4 gigs is a little less than you should have. I suggest upgrading that anyways. Also, you should get a new cpu and graphics card! that is the plain and simple truth, those are the true bottlenecks. I recommend going with an athlon x4 860 and a radeon r9 260X, those will be great for preformance and will only cost around 200 dollars, and will work withh the motherboard you have, unless or some reason it has no pci express slot
