Hello everyone, Random Citizen here with some additions and revisions that I believe will make change mod applications for the better. Let us begin.

Do you know what really grinds my gears? This question:

What is your experience with moderating servers? -

It's not that it's a bad question, but it could definitely use a change. Why, you ask? I'll tell you. When your average applicant answers this question, he or she merely lists the positions he or she has held with a brief description of the server, or something similarly irrelevant. This is not what I would like to read. I would like to know how the applicant thinks the positions he or she has previously held has prepared them for this position. I would have the question changed to this:

    Revision #1:
What are your experiences with moderating servers, and how have your experiences prepared you to moderate this server? -

In addition to this revision, there are a few more questions that I would like answered in moderator applications. They are as follows.

    Question #1:
Why are you applying for this position? -

    Question #2:
In your opinion, what are the three most important traits a leader can show? -

    Question #3:
How will you exemplify these traits as a moderator? -

    Question #4:
How would you define the job of a moderator? -

Now, you may be wondering why I would have these questions added to mod apps. Well, as for the first one, it is very important to me to know why an applicant wants to become a moderator. I would not like someone who is merely doing this for attention or power. I would expect a good, solid reason for applying, and I would be interested in hearing what the applicant has to say regarding this question.

As for the second and third questions I have listed above, I find this necessary to determining whether or not the applicant would make a good moderator. Essentially, the position of moderator is a position of leadership. We as moderators are often looked up to by the players on our servers, and viewed as leaders. We should be positively influencing those we moderate. It would be difficult to do this should the one moderating lack a grasp on the concept of leadership. These questions serve to show if the applicant has a good grasp on what leadership really looks like. If they don't, then they may may not be the best candidate for this position.

The forth question is intended as an alternative to the 2nd and 3rd question. However, I suppose it could be included among them. It's purpose is the same as question 2 and 3. I would like to know what the applicant thinks about leading and moderating. Credit to Lord Roke for the 4th question.

Well, that's all I have to say for now on this subject. Comment your thoughts below and vote in the poll if you wish. And remember, comments > votes. A vote means relatively nothing compared to a comment. What do you guys think?

Very nice suggestion random. I completely agree with your choices of re wording and adding new questions. The original "where have you worked" question is too vague. By asking the person applying how it would help them, you guys (the staff) will have a better look on how they plan on performing.

    Why aren't these added yet?

EDIT: I'd love to see another addition.
What action would you take if someone accuses you of hacking?
Why, some may ask. You see, a moderator a while ago was doing some things that were fairly malicious, including kicks/bans on people who took such an action.

These are all great questions that need to be added. They all would provide great insight into the minds of applicants, and question 1 specifically would be great to make sure people want to be mod for the right reasons, and not because they would be popular and get free mvp

WHY ARE WE NOT FUNDING THIS?

I think these changes are a really good idea and I see you've put a lot of thought into them, random. Good job, and I hope they get added.
