I think that although the Retired Staff rank shouldn't be for all ex-staff, far from it, some retired staff members could use the recognition?

    Example: @Colonel_Chris and @Halo_.

Both staff members contributed greatly to Brawl. Colonel was a staff member for a year and banned hundreds of players and Halo was one of the most active staff members we've ever had. I think @Lord_Roke would also deserve one if/when he retires. All I'm saying is, I think these people have have a huge impact on Brawl and it would be nice to honor them.

The retired staff rank is only given to ex-admins right now. How are we able to distinguish between who has done more work than another, and who to give the rank to?

I think it should be Putty/Signatured/Chaploo's decision. The S-Mods at the time may have some input as well. But is a rank really a good way of telling how much they have done for Brawl? No offense intended, but has GreenPea done more than Colonel_Chris or Lord_Roke? I think the Retired Staff rank should be based on what they've done for the community, not what rank they attained.

Who's saying Roke's gonna resign? :open_mouth: xD Anyways, I think it should stay specifically for admins/coders.

I don't see a reason why the admins get a tag while the smods and mods get a medal; to be honest, it's biased. Why is the tag called "Retired Staff" when a majority of the former staff members don't even get it? It would be better to eliminate the former staff medal and give every former staff member (not demoted or ex-trial) the tag.

One of the reasons why the Admins were reluctant to give the retired staff medals is because it would be too controversial if they gave some medals and others nothing. They settled on giving all former staff members medals. To give only some former staff special tags would be equally, if not more controversial. Who is to judge who gets these tags? What would set those who received them apart from the others who didn't? I can't see much good coming from this.

Peas did a lot of forum banning, thread moving and forum-related things. The crime rate was cut down by 90% during his time in the office.

It's biased regardless to whether or not you're giving it to just admins or giving it to specific mods.

It's easier to give it to just admins because we know the people who worked their way to that rank and because of how minimal admins there are.

No need. Some will be unhappy with who was chosen to recieve the ranking. It is reasonable that S-Mods recieve them, for there are not as many compared to mods. Otherwise, this shouldn't be a thing.

How about we have a staff member of the month and staff member of the year and then they get a medal or tag? This would give them something to make them work better.

    Never.

Well, thanks for saying I would deserve that tag, but many other SMods and Moderators did as much as I did. GreenPea definitely did a lot more than me.

    Now to your idea:
Giving it to few staff members will only cause many dicussions, because it depends on your point of view if the certain staff member deserves the rank or not. So we should continue to give the rank based on the rank the staff member had.

In think that people deserve recognition for what they have done. You know it more about it than me Rainy, being a mod is though.
You deserve at the end to get some kind of reward for helping this community even if you are just a War-Z mod or something.

But if that was to occur, other WarZ mods (or mods from other servers) could bicker and complain that they deserved one and so forth. It's not worth it. If someone had done enough for that, they would have been promoted.

    1) Curious why I would be excluded from the "decision" making.
    2) The rank was reserved to show respect to members of the high staff team that had a lasting effect on Brawl.
    3) Lord_Roke isn't retired AFAIK.
    4) Colonel_Chris did a lot of work, sure, but he wasn't an admin.

Just saying, but Colonel Chris did have a lasting effect on Brawl. There are loads of bad players that won't be coming on the server anymore because of him. :V And you don't have to be an admin to have a lasting effect on Brawl.

I meant no offense, it's just that Signatured and chickenputty have probably known a lot more of the retired staff than you, they've been around for longer. What I should've said is that it should be your decision as well, provided you actually know about the staff member in question.

I'm finding these points contradictory. You say this rank is for former staff members that had a lasting effect on Brawl, yet you're saying he doesn't get the rank because he wasn't an admin? Sorry, but Chris had a huge impact on Brawl when he was an smod.

I honestly think only SMOD+ should get the rank, unless the mod was an incredible contribution to the server and helped a crap ton.

I don't really think Halo would be a good spot for this, because me and tchuckraider caught him abusing the teleport glitch on WarZ just a few hours ago.
