Huge ELO problems

    Huge ELO problems
    Hey guys. We all know that recently a new ranking system has been introduced to Mc-WarZ called "ELO".
    At first, I was very happy to have a new ranking system implemented into the server, until: I spawned in.
    Upon first spawning in, I was met with a fully iron armoured gunman who immediately shot me.
    At first, I took no notice, until it repeatedly happened. It was hard to spawn anywhere, or for the matter, get anywhere without being being intercepted by a gun.

    I counted down one minute, then I took a screenshot. This was the kill feed after one minute.
    Although I like the concept of ELO, their is a serious flaw in a system that rewards players for camping and over killing.

    This was a problem even before. I don't know how this wasn't predicted, but it's bad...

    Killing a person with leather armor and without good weapons, it should not count as a plus ELO. That should solve it (hopefully this actually helps).

    Since the new ELO system has been released, I have seen a HUGE increase in the amount of players camping noob towns. It's not even funny. There are so many people that I tried running to army on 3 different servers 2 times each, and every time I was intercepted by full irons with full T4. I mean, before it was bad because people wanted kills for their stats page, but now it's just unbelievable.

    It's been a little puzzling to come up with ideas to try and fix this. The only one that I have come up would be to make sure you get the most minimal amount of ELO possible from killing someone with a leather chestplate and helmet (default armor). This will make it so killing leathers is completely useless.

    What if using any weapon above Tier 2 will give you no ELO whatsoever if you kill a person at spawn?

    IMO, the new system is practically breaking WarZ, because if we remove the ELO boost from killing fresh spawns and full leathers, then that means that everyone will be camping the zone 6's like it's the last surviving place on earth. Which means no one will be able to even step 300 blocks in front of a place like nether.

    I've also heard a lot of complaints from new people complaining how they can't even spawn without getting mowed down by a full iron nearby. The camping you can see now in NoobLand is flipping hideous.

    I think first we should take care of the small problems first (like grapple, gun damages, etc.) before we try and fix something that was just released. That's my opinion though, disagree all you want. :v


    EDIT: We could also just make your ELO go down if you kill a 1/4 or full leather person.

    Why not add a system that takes various factors into account when deciding how much ELO you recieve? I propose changing the current system to reward ELO for kills based on three things:

    1. How long the deceased player was alive
    2. The value of their loot
    3. What zone they were killed in

    You could have some sort of averaging system that will calculate the ELO given to the killer based on a value from each one of these. This way, a player who has just spawned, has basically nothing, and is still at spawn will provide next to no ELO to a spawncamper. I'm not sure what ELO is currently based on now, or if it's just a fixed value because I really don't play WarZ anymore.

    For #1, you could put a cap on the time one can be alive and still have an effect on the averaged ELO value. That way their won't be any issues with people hiding an alt somewhere far away and getting lumps of ELO by killing them after a long period of time. And for #2, you could use whatever values that determine how often items spawn in chests to calculate loot value.

    This would draw the fighting away from the lower zones and away from spawn, so chasing noobs around the coastline will no longer be an efficient method of stacking up ELO. It might seem a bit unnecessary and complicated, but I think that making ELO dependent on three factors instead of just one could help prevent the exploitation of a single factor for the purposes of farming ELO. This is just an idea, I don't play WarZ much at all but I felt maybe I could add a little bit to the discussion here.

    Right I would say that if you kill someone armour really shouldn't matter. These days if your not a one shot you can easily take a full d down which is why I don't think that killing for elo should change the increase. I think it should be based on what zone your in. If your at a zone 6 and die, your elo would go down more than It does at zone 1-5 let's say. And of course if you kill at a zone 6 it goes up more than it would at a zone 1-5.

    That would be sort of difficult to use since I don't have WarZ source code, creating some sort of makeshift zone could work.

    Checking how long they were alive for would be a great factor to add, actually. Instead of putting a cap on it, you could just store the time played into memory so if the server restarts or player relogs it resets the time.

    This is a general WarZ feed of kills... all I see is noobs killin' noobs... Nothing out of the ordinary about that...

    WarZ is the same as it was 10 days ago, maybe not 6 months ago... but 10 days ago it was the same.

    But if they are attacking you then what are you supposed to do?

    Easy, if they attack you, (and you kill them) you get a VERY small ELO boost. If they don't attack you, (and you kill them) then down goes your ELO.
