I set everything to maximum, but I sometimes have to lower it to increase my frames.

I set all of my video settings to the lowest possible value.
    Plus everything else.
Everytime I play Minecraft, it's so dismal. There's no sky, no moon, no sun, no stars, and everything just looks like the world is at a standstill. At least I can still see explosions. :grinning:

I keep my animations on but at decreased, also I keep my render distance at around 6 so I don't lag too much. I also have my max fps set to 35 so I don't over work my computer. I still play great, and it is the optimal lag free setting for someone with a bad/badish PC.

Capping your frames is a bad idea.

The idea is that if you lower or cap your frames per second you are actually slowing down how fast visuals and other players process (for example move)......thus they may not move as fast as someone who is uncapped. Hope that makes sense.

Your graphics card has a framerate cap on it, so if your maximum FPS is higher than your card's, you're wasting CPU power on the extra frames, meaning you actually lose performance.

If your computer is powerful enough, then run fullscreen and VSYNC.
If it isn't then VSYNC won't work.
VSYNC caps your frames at your monitor's refresh rate so your frames don't stutter.
    Am I missing something @Phanta?

Oh, and don't turn on smooth FPS
What it does is give you steady FPS, but it decreases your overall FPS to make it not fluctuate. I run 60 FPS normally, but with smooth FPS on I get a constant 30-40 :V

I run maximum settings, with uncapped frames, I usually run 50fps and around 30 w/ my recorder.

I just set everything to max and get my cap of 250 fps. I like my computer :grinning:
