More realistic sounds in WarZ! Fun!

Mod Disclaimer: This mod, in no way, shape or form, gives the player any advantage over other players, it was built purely for aesthetic purposes.

For now, this mod adds real gun sounds to the guns in WarZ. It activates only on WarZ servers and replaces the default Minecraft sounds with new ones. Unfortunately, this had to be a modification instead of a resource pack due to technical limitations involving the same sounds being used for multiple guns, and some sounds having an odd pitch difference, which would make audio in a resource pack sound strange.

The sound effects included as of now:
    Sniper Sounds -
    Fire, shell drop, cartridge replacement
    Pistol Sounds - Fire
Shotgun Sounds - Fire, pump (for all except AA12)
Rifle Sounds - Automatic Fire, Burst Fire
    Barret - Custom fire
Barbed Wire - Custom cutting sound
    No Ammo - Dry fire

    Planned Features:
    - More sounds
    - More sound packs and the ability to add custom ones

    Known Issues:
    - None :grinning:

    Download: Version 1.1

    Download the JAR File here:

    http://s000.tinyupload.com/?file_id=10104318939544358642

    OR

Compile the mod yourself from the source here:

    https://gist.github.com/Quantum64/27fddab8010ddf5f9e54

You will still need to copy assets from the JAR.

    Installation:

    1) Install Minecraft Forge. Only use for 1.8. 1.8.1+ WILL NOT WORK (If they are available by the time you are reading this).

    2) Copy the mod to your mods folder. This will be located at C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\mods on Windows.

    3) Start Minecraft on the Forge profile, and if everything goes to plan, you're all set.

Thanks for reading. I spent most of today on this, so I hope you enjoy it.

Could you upload the sounds so we can hear them?

    Great idea, looks neat.

That would ruin the surprise :stuck_out_tongue: But if you really want to hear them, they are in the jar at assets/soundtweaker/sounds

    But
But before I know if I want to download it, I'm gonna want to know what they sound like.
It's kinda like saying "no pics, no clicks" for texturepacks, only you can't really have a pic of the sounds ._.

Even if they had resource packs, (no offence to the creator), the sounds would be very strange. For instance, the pistol and the shotgun make the same sound (ghast.fire), thus, in a sound pack, the pistol and the shotgun would have to make the same sound, which is far from realistic. Then you would still have the high pitch sounds to deal with.

Did you not read the post...? I included the source code, compile it yourself.

Edit: Also kind of new on the server? Let me remind you that the server and the forums are not the same thing.

As I said, 'server website', it is a personal thing that I don't trust new people and their downloads.

    Nice.

    But.

Minecraft already has a built-in system for this based off sounds.json :v

Also, not everybody has the development environment required to hand-compile forge mods ;v

EDIT: Read through your code. The server detection system is quite smooth, I like it. However, the three volatile variables you define never seem to be used?

EDIT2: Oh, so canShell is to prevent semi-auto snipers from playing a bolt sound. Clever. But you still don't use skip and canShotgun :v

Skip and canShotgun were used to try and prevent the pistol from making the shotgun sound by slightly delaying the shotgun sound effect on the thread executor by 50mls, then checking if the pistol sound effect has played and canceling the shotgun sound effect. This was a ridiculous and stupid solution, which is why I removed it and simply check the name of the item now.

Again, I tried to use MC's sounds.json file (simply creating a resource pack), and had the problem of the sounds being pitch corrected by the server, and some sounds for completely different guns (shotgun and pistol, for instance) being different.

I'm simply slightly irritated that people have the nerve to tell me they don't trust my mod when the code is sitting right in front of their faces.

99% of them don't have the forge api memorized, and the other 1% doesn't have the javadocs :v

And sounds.json actually supports pitch shifts, fyi.
