Hey there! I'm wintergreen3, a longtime CTFer. ^-^ I just have a few questions about Brawl's policies for the MCPVP servers.

    Question:
I have a question regarding the rules of chat and the MCPVP newcomers. On MCPVP there weren't many rules about chat conduct (besides no hate speech/putting down of others) and I have seen various things inforced on Brawl that most MCPVPers should probably know before they enter their favorite gamemode, only to be kicked due to some misunderstanding. Kicking or muting for swearing is a given, and we were very lucky on MCPVP to have an older audience which led to far less of the problems related to cussing. I don't expect that to change, but I would like to go over some of the other rules eg. Hacker accusations, and the number of the same letters you can place together in a message. I feel like these should be slightly more acceptable on MCPVP gamemodes since we're much more used to it.
I'd just like to get a discussion going and spread the word about these things as I feel it's important to avoid accidents. Everybody should have the same enjoyable experience on Brawl CTF as they do on all the other gamemodes! =D Thanks a bunch!

Our in-game rules can be viewed at https://www.brawl.com/threads/3311/. The following are the chat related rules:
    • Do not advertise other servers or websites.
    • Do not distribute 18+ content, screamers, gore, or shock sites.
    • Do not impersonate to be staff.
    • Respect all players and staff.
    • Do not make threats to players or staff.
    • Do not post hack accusations (hackusations) in chat.
    • Do not spam or use excessive capital letters.
    • Keep cursing to a minimum.
I do not think any of these are really unexpected on any Minecraft server. Our plugins handle cursing, spamming, caps, and spamming the same letters. If you somehow get past the filters the staff will warn you. You may curse, but constantly using every swear word in existence isn't needed, or allowed.

We recognize that most of our servers are player vs. player and we don't discipline people for friendly bickering. But, we make sure that the comments don't get out of hand. Constant or extreme disrespect or flame will result in you being disciplined.

The rules in the next few months will be pretty loose in regards to kicking and muting. We know that the MCPVP community isn't familiar or use to our rules which is fine. The only chat rules that we take intimidate kick or mute action on is advertising, distributing inappropriate content, and death threats. Everything else you will receive a warning before getting kicked or muted.

Sorry for the lengthy response, I tried to cover everything for other players with similar questions.

Thanks for the response, chicken. ^-^ It helped.
I'm just curious as to why hackusations are against the rules? Because it can (rarely, but it happens) help Moderators catch hackers they personally didn't see if everyone is screaming in the chat about a hacker. I'm not saying that hacker accusations should be absolutely spammed in chat, but it never seemed like it was a rude or mean thing. It always just turned out to be funny.
Thanks for your time. ^-^ Can't wait to get to know you Brawlers a little bit better!

Hackusations tend to cause issues regarding spam and flame between players. If a player would like to tell a staff member that a player is hacking, they may easily do so by private messaging them in-game.

    No problemo :stuck_out_tongue:
