You seem like you have a great idea already of what to do xD like he said.. Joining the forums and keeping up with things is a great way to involved and to meet new people also you can go on Brawls Teamspeak and find some people and ask to join and you can make some new friends, a lot of people are friendly and if you message them asking for the password to there channel they are likely to do so and give you someone to talk to. Just say if you have anymore questions!

A while before I quit Survival I never used to be on ts (Now I'm really active) and still I would say I was well known. (Don't want to be cocky)
So no it is not necessarily a secret formula to be well-known but you can certainly use it to get there. Just practice at PvP, get friendly with many people and get into a good team.
