    Brawl Moderator Application:

Have you read over this thread? – Yes, multiple times.

What is your in-game name? - Viva

Have you changed your name in the past? If you have, please list them. – VivaPinata78 was my old IGN but I changed it 4/22/15.

Does anyone else have access to your Minecraft account? - No

How old are you? – 16, born April 7th, 1999.

What time zone are you in? – MST (UTC-6).

Are you multilingual? Can you speak multiple languages? – I’m not sure whether being in French 4 in high school counts as being multilingual, but I could hold up a very basic conversation in French. English is my main language.

What is your experience and knowledge of Minecraft? -
    [IMG]

My experience with Minecraft began around January/February of 2011. I was playing at one of my good friend’s house when he showed me this cool blocky game. I remember falling in love with crafting rails and mine cart tracks and building cool mountain bases. The simple charm of the game attached to me and I soon came to his house quite often just so I could play. He gifted me an account shortly afterwards.

My first real server experience begins with McPVP. The Hunger Games movie was all the hype back then and naturally, I googled Hunger Games servers and found mc-hg.com. I joined McPVP in May of 2012 and I fell in love with the Hardcore Games. I’ve gotten the great honor of being able to meet so many amazing people in that community over the course of three years. I remember the days of when no one knew how soup worked and I camped in holes in the ground. I was excited every day after school to log in to the Hardcore Games even though I died within the first two minutes anyways; it was a kind of experience that can’t be replicated anymore. The feeling of excitement of trying to come up with some insane strategy and all of my friends made still fuels my motivation today. I’ve played the Hardcore Games for over three years now and will continue on Brawl.

In regards to the Hardcore Games more specifically, over three years I’ve played over 5000 games and I’ve been able to learn lots from that. I have extensive knowledge of how all the kits work and PvP in general. Not to mention I’ve been through of McPVP’s rough times, helping me learn from its past mistakes, such as the whole Admiral Mason and huge staff revolts (Staff: What not to dos, to put it lightly).

What is your experience with moderating servers, if any? – I’ve been an admin on a really small Minecraft server with my friends, which averaged around 20 players at most. Yet learning from McPvP’s moderators and what they’ve had to say has given me some advice about what it’s like to be a moderator. It’s about getting to know your player base and community and doing what’s right for the group as a whole.

What will you provide to the community if you are provided moderator status? - Being a veteran of McPvP for 3 years, I’ve met lots of the community and have knowledge that some Brawl players may not. I know how all of the kits work and all of the game mechanics. I’d be a knowledgeable HG member who could answer most questions, which some brawl players/moderators can’t. I’ve gotten really good at detecting hackers. I feel like I would be able to provide a fresh McPvP perspective to Brawl and be able to unite Brawl and McPVP much more. I can make sure that this transition is smooth for everyone and I will be able make new friends, and help the Hardcore Games out, the server I’ve loved for a long time.

Have you ever used a hacked client before? – Yes, I’ve used both Nodus and X-ray texture packs. They were mainly either used for map building (x-ray to see through hallways and caverns) or testing to see how hacks work. This was all to give better knowledge as for what to look out for when I suspect a hacker.

Have you ever been banned on a Minecraft server? If so, why? – I have been, and I’m not really proud to say it, banned on multiple factions/raid like servers for x-ray back in 2012. I’ve never been banned on McPVP or Brawl and I haven’t hacked in order to cheat since. Hacking in Minecraft servers doesn't really serve a point in my eyes unless it's a survival-like server, even then it's immoral and should be punished.

What do you consider your greatest strength? – I find my knowledge of both the game and communities to be one of my greatest strengths. I was really invested in McPvP and I believe it will be the same way here. I’m always determined to help out the servers that I find the most fun, whether it be reporting hackers all day, answering questions in game, or creating useful forum posts, I can almost always be seen online doing something helpful or fun.

What do you consider your greatest weakness? – I’m not exactly the most outspoken person in the world. I’m more reserved and don’t talk very much. I don’t discuss difficult topics well and don’t like being put on the spot. Being in text chat is one thing but actual speaking is another. I only really speak my true thoughts to people I really trust and am really good friends with. It's something that I've struggled a bit with for a while now. However the only way to get better at this is to experience these difficult situations myself, which why I try and put myself out there more. Not to mention I get to meet new people, which is always a plus.

How active do you consider yourself on Brawl?
    – Since it is the summer at the time that I am writing this application, I have lots of free time to do whatever I like.

Provided I am not working or taking classes on programming I can usually dedicate around 7-8 hours of my day. On Tuesdays and Sundays I do volunteer work so that usually cuts into the time but I like to play on the servers whenever there is a chance. I will usually log onto the servers and see what all of my friends are doing/playing and check on Skype and TeamSpeak.

On days, which I have school, you can usually find me on from 4pm to 9pm because I usually have to finish up schoolwork beforehand. Though this may change due to things like jobs in the future.

I constantly skim over the forums (only a month on the forums so far) and slack for updates and hacker reporting, so you can usually find me on there.

Which Brawl servers are you most active on? – I’m most active on the Hardcore Games. I’ve been playing since May 26th of 2012, and I’ve dedicated most of my time there since, even after McPvP’s closure. I play kit brawl sometimes whenever I need to brush up on my PVP after breaks.

How many hours can you provide a day and during what time frame? – During school days I can provide around 2-4 hours depending on schoolwork or extracurricular activities, such as my TSA club on Thursdays. I'm not online whenever I'm actually in school, but I may be browsing slack or forums if I am bored. During the weekend however I can provide around 7-8 hours starting at 10am in the morning to about 10pm, depending on what I have to do during the weekends. I have volunteer work on Sundays during the morning so that cuts in a little bit.

What would you do if someone breaks a rule in-game? – Depends on the offense:

    If someone is…

    · Hacking/Modded Client: I will record them with either Fraps/QuickTime, depending on the computer I am using. Then report them at brawl.com/report. If either it is impossible to record or there is a mod online in the slack I will report them there for fast and easy banning.

    · Spamming/Being really rude or derogatory: I will warn them once for the offense and if they decide to continue I will mute for 10 minutes and tell them to stop what they are doing. If they continue the mutes will progressively get longer and possibly even permanent.

    · Glitching: First warn the player to stop whatever it is they are doing. If they continue kick them for no time and warn them to stop yet again. If they get back on and continue I will kick them for even longer amounts of time.

What would you do if someone breaks a rule on the forums? – Depends on the offense:

    If someone…

    · Makes an off topic, spam or flame thread/post: Delete or move the post, depending on its relevancy. If it was meant as something hateful, give the person a warning as to why it was deleted; such as if someone posted “such a ****in try hard lmao”, I would warn the person for the flame (and spam nature). If they continue making posts such as these ban them.

    · Wrong section: Simply move the posts into the relevant section.

    · Topic resolved/flame thread: Lock the thread if the issue has been sorted out. If it becomes a flame thread that is too hard to handle at the time being, simply lock it and sort out any issues shortly afterwards.

What would you do if someone breaks a rule on TS3? – Depends on the offense:

    If someone…

    · Has their TeamSpeak name not the same as their IGN, or has an 18 plus profile picture: I will first ask them to change it kindly. If they don’t, I will bring them to the rules channel and give them a firm warning. If they continue to not listen I will kick/ban them.

    · Is using a voice changer, has bad background noise, or is playing music/audio: I will first warn them to stop doing what they doing kindly. If they do not stop I will bring them to a private channel and warn them personally. If they do not stop after this warning I will mute them.

    · Is being really rude or obnoxious: I will bring them into a private channel and warn them to stop. If they continue it will be a kick/ban. It’s something that I don’t tolerate as well as the other offences.

Situation (as a staff member): You log on Brawl, and you’re told that there is a huge, game-breaking economy glitch. No Admins are online to solve the situation. What steps would you take to handle the issue? – First I will notify everyone in the server of the glitch and of course that if anyone abuses this glitch they will be caught and punished accordingly. I will check around and make sure everyone’s questions are answered as I try and get an admin online to solve the issue. If an admin does not get online for a long time I will attempt to keep the server under control, maybe even kicking glitch abusers. I believe being able to calm the masses of people and being able to do what is best is one of the many roles of a moderator.

How many Brawl staff applications have you made in the past?
    None

What is the date of the last application you submitted?
    N/A

Do you have a working microphone? – Yes, I either use my MacBook Pro’s built in microphone when using my laptop or I use my Logitech headset when I’m on my Desktop PC.

Are you able to record and upload videos? – Yes, you can find my channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCH0a1yoMgTOOAlCc-Zzs42A

I mostly use this for hacker reports (all videos are unlisted), but you can see a few recordings there.

I either use Fraps or QuickTime.

Do you generally know how all the staff member commands work? – Yes. I know of /kick, which is used to kick people after committing minor offenses, /mute, which is used to quiet players who are either flaming, advertising or spamming, and /ban, which is used to ban players permanently who are cheating. I'd assume that it's similar to McPVP's command system.

Anything else we should know about you? – My name is Gabe, and I live in Colorado. I don’t play any sports nor have a job yet. I do volunteer with service dogs by cleaning them up and taking them for walks on Tuesdays and Sundays. McPVP and the Hardcore Games is the best server I have ever gotten to play on, and I’m happy to continue this on Brawl.

Your application is very long and detailed, showing you took your time when writing it. I haven't seen you on TeamSpeak, but that may be due to timezone differences. And even though you joined the forums last month, you are fairly active from the amount of posts you've gotten in a month. Overall, I'd say you are ready to take on the position. And as JaydenChadd said, we do need more HG Mods.

    +1

    Good luck!
