Intro: Some the MCPVP people may remember that I had a building tutorial series on the forums that I did every 1-2 weeks. I thought with build coming back up, I would completely redo this tutorial series. Some changes I will make this time around include more general tutorials rather than a step by step process of how to do a specific thing. I'll make a compilation of these once I get to three or four tutorials for future reference. Also, if you have any ideas, PM me. Ok, lets begin.

    Build Tutorial 1: Detailing
I have heard many people ask about what makes a build look nice. One of the main principles is detailing. Let's look at a transformation of a simple wall, to something more detailed.

Here is a normal wall that is typically found in a house. As you can see, it looks plain, and could be made in 30 seconds.

One thing that I recommend doing for a start is pushing a part of the wall back one block. This is what I consider the first step to adding depth.

As another basic way of adding depth, switch to glass panes instead of glass unless there is a good reason not to do so (ex: making a map for a gamemode where you cant break glass but can break panes). It makes the whole build look a lot better in my eyes.

After completing the basic detailing (wall back, panes), try adding some sort of flower, balcony, porch, etc in front of your window, or door if it is the front. I chose to add a flower for this tutorial, but it doesn't really matter.

Something I like to do next is add fences near the sides of the wall. I recommend changing the color of the fences to adjust to your theme.

After this, I recommend adding a "frame" to your door/window decoration (the flower). Try using the following things: slabs, and stairs of your block of choosing. I chose to do a stone brick stair type frame, but you could do anything. Just try and stay consistent to YOUR theme.

Similarly, add stair/slab combinations in the rest of your wall.

After this, you should be mostly done. Something I did is made the logs point, and added buttons for even more texture. Now compare to the first screenshot.

Note(s): There can be things edited, removed, added, etc and the build would look fine. Just experiment around after you get the hang of it. Also, it is easier to detail medium sized buildings (like the wall), so don't cram or make it too large for your first try.

Nice guide! Good for beginners, I already knew most of these but I did see some things I didn't try out before .

Good starter  I would just add one note.... Maybe add the fact that that is an idea... nothing more... People just starts to get locked onto a spicific building style, which means everything will be to uniform
