    Brawl Moderator Application:

Before you read my application, I would like to explain a few things. The first thing I would like to explain is my age. Yes I am very young, but I wish to be given the chance, and looked at not as an instant denial because of my age. I deem myself mature enough to handle the position, as due to my maturity and authority people often deem me older, which is the driving force behind why I believe I can handle this position. The next thing I would like to address is the server I am applying on. Last month, on the fourth of May, I posted a mod application for McWar. On my profile, Andoconda posted something in response to my application. It was that he felt my activity was lacking. Now, in retrospect I realize it was. I was spending all of my time on WarZ, instead on War. I still played WarZ more than War, even after this application. I feel as though I would be a better candidate for WarZ mod, rather than War mod. It may seem as though I am applying for WarZ just because there are too many War moderators, but I assure you that is not the case.

Have you read overthisthread?– I have read over Signatured’s thread many times. Through reading the thread I have been able to indentify many of the key factors that determine a potential candidate’s success. Through reading this thread I feel as though I have better prepared myself in order to potentially gain the status of Jr. Mod

What is your in-game name?– My in-game name is currently _Cloudy_

Have you changed your name in the past? If you have, please list them.– To this date I have only on previous name, Riley20029.

Does anyone else have access to your Minecraft account?– Currently, no one else has access, or can gain access, to my Minecraft account.

How old are you?– I am currently 12 years of age.

What time zone are you in?– I am located in the Eastern portion of the United States, Eastern Standard Time.

Are you multilingual? Can you speak multiple languages?– My native language is English; however I can speak some Spanish. I have been taking classes in my school in order to gain a better understanding of the language. As of now I can merely understand the basics, but I am constantly learning from my teachers and parents. Although I do know only the basics, I have a good enough grasp on the language in order to carry out a basic conversation.

What is your experience and knowledge of Minecraft?– My experience and knowledge of Minecraft is extremely well defined. I have been playing Minecraft since September 1, 2011 as seen here: bandicam 2015-06-22 19-41-46-147.jpg At the beginning of my Minecraft career I was quite the novice, still trying to grasp the understanding of using the keys WASD to move around, instead of the arrow keys. I slowly, but surely, learned Minecraft from friends. Daily, my other friends and I would embark across our town to gaze at our friends Minecraft game. I was intrigued by the concept, but seeing as to how it sucked in my friends and seemed to hold them in a comatose state bothered me, as I was still at the young age where playing outside still held all of its glory. Soon, I began to see the great appeal. I rushed home to buy Minecraft. After purchasing Minecraft, I began my building career. Inspired by my friend’s brother, I built grand structures. Sooner or later, I began to grow weary of purely building, and decided to explore the vast variety of public servers that Minecraft had to offer. I soon found a server to my liking. My friends quickly climbed through the ranks in donations and buildings. They showed me countless things that greatly influenced my Minecraft career. Sadly, all good things must come to an end, and the server was shut down. The server taught me many valuable skills that allowed me to quicken the pace in my ever-growing interest in the game.
What is your experience with moderating servers, if any?– I have fairly minimal moderating experience, however, I do possess some, and enough to know how to utilize the commands that Jr. Mods possess. My first duty as Moderator was on a friend’s server. I helped keep the spammers in check, as that was the majority of the server’s frequenters. Another Moderating job I had was on a paintball server. Late into the life of that server I gained the role as Chat Manager. This job was simply managing, and muting, the chat. Sadly, I do not possess any proof from the Paintball server as it was shut down, and my friend’s server as well.

What will you provide to the community if you are provided moderator status?– I will provide a committed member. I never step down from a task, and always follow through. If I was granted the position of Jr. Mod, I would make sure to follow through, and attempt to help heal the WarZ community. The WarZ community fell, and is still struggling back up. Many people often state that they hope the War community does not end up like that of the WarZ community, and I wish to help make sure that the community starts to grow to its former glory. I am also committed to any job, and will be willing to attempt, or follow through on any task sent my way.

Have you ever used a hacked client before?– I have never once used, or installed a hacked client. I have, howler, seen a friend hacking before. I watched what he did, and started to understand how it worked. This gave me advantages, as I was able to identify the signs of any tell tale hacker. Without this experience I would have never been able to spot, and report many hackers that I have submitted.
Have you ever been banned on a Minecraft server? If so, why?– I have only been banned on one server. This server was my first ever Minecraft server, that I mentioned in my Minecraft experiences. I was banned for a fairly silly reason, one that was carried out in light of the owner’s stubbornness and cruelty. I was banned because of this. The server was being reset, with a new map, new co-owner, everything. The one thing the owner refused to do was give permissions for any donations on the old map. My friend, having been a loyal and committed frequenter of the server, spent over $300 on it. When the owner refused to refund, or compensate for the lost rank, my friend stood up for himself. This was rewarded in a ban. Being loyal to my friend, I confronted the Owner, and pursued a useless argument to get my friend compensated for his lost donation. The owner, having stayed strong in light of the situation, rewarded my pointless misdemeanor with a ban.

What do you consider your greatest strength?– I consider my greatest strength to be the fact that I am patient. I am very flexible, and kind with others. Often times I will be able to wait out an argument in order to rationalize with the person, instead of confronting them in the midst of their rant. Sometimes, these rants, and peoples rude behavior, and more, can be very long and tiresome. My greatest strength lies in the fact that I am able to wait out these long dialogues and behaviors, in order to rationalize with the person, or people, and to be able to keep strong and wait it out, even in a tough situation.

What do you consider your greatest weakness?– My greatest weakness is my anxiety. I have horrid anxiety, and am often trying to defend myself. When someone makes fun of me specifically, I often get very anxious and nervous. This can lead to me becoming slightly irrational. This never occurs though when it is someone else being hurt, it is simply me when I try to defend myself. Most of my previous immaturity came from the fact that I was always distraught at being called bad on War. This could also come with age, as I am still quite young. Already I have noticed improvements in this area, and I am now able to control my emotions, and not let them get the best of me. Now I simply ignore it, or instead of surrendering, I relax, and wait it out, instead of fueling their hatred.

How active do you consider yourself on Brawl?– I am extremely active on Brawl, but I cannot commit my full time to it. I have a very busy life, and strict schedules that can prohibit me from being super active. In light of this, I am able to still dedicate all of my free time to Brawl. If I do end up having time in my schedule all of that time goes into spending time on the forums, teamspeak, and most of all, in-game.

Which Brawl servers are you most active on?– I am most active on WarZ and War, specifically WarZ, as that is my main server. Although I play those mostly, I do spend a good amount of time on the other servers, such as minestrike, Capture The Flag, Hardcore Games, and Creative.

How many hours can you provide a day and during what time frame?– I can provide a total of about maybe four hours of total playtime during the summer, and more during the school year. I can play between 7:00 – 11:00 Eastern Standard Time generally, and sometimes more during the day.

What would you do if someone breaks a rule in-game?– If someone were to break an in-game rule I would do the following. First, I would publicly remind them of their misdemeanor, and ask politely that they stop. If they refuse I would /msg them again, privately, this time reciting the possible consequences. If they refuse to stop I would issue a kick or mute depending on the situation.

What would you do if someone breaks a rule on the forums?– If someone were to break a forums rule I would do the following. I would first, depending on the situation, delete the comment if necessary. If the post ignites a flame war, I would then follow through with locking the thread. If the situation is out of my control I would report to higher authority.

What would you do if someone breaks a rule on TS3?– If someone breaks a rule on teamspeak I would first administer the situation. If they are using a voice changer I would remind them they are not allowed, or if they have background noise I would ask politely that they enable push to talk. If they do not comply, I would move them to Private Support/Jail. From there I would once more request that they stop. Furthermore, if they still do not comply, I would issue a kick. If they come back after the kick, I would report to higher staff member of their transgression, so that they may deal with the issue accordingly.

Situation (as a staff member): You log on Brawl, and you’re told that there is a huge, game-breaking economy glitch. No Admins are online to solve the situation. What steps would you take to handle the issue?– First off, I would private message the people abusing the glitch in order to keep it unknown from those who have not found it yet. I would ask them to stop, and remind them of the consequences. If they continue, I would kick them for a period of time, depending on the situation. I would then seek help from other moderators and higher ups on teamspeak in order to further control the situation.

How many Brawl staff applications have you made in the past?– In the past I have submitted only two staff applications, although one was when I was unaware of the moderator requirements.

What is the date of the last application you submitted?– The last application I submitted was on the fourth of May, this year. The application can be seen here.

Do you have a working microphone?– Indeed I do, it is a Blue Snowball microphone.

Are you able to record and upload videos?– Yes, I have working recording software, Fraps, and a Youtube channel. I often have my Fraps open as well, so I can record any hackers when I notice them.

Do you generally know how all the staff member commands work?– I do indeed have a general understanding of the commands that staff members’ posses. And if I encounter a command that I am unaware of how to execute, I will immediately ask in order to gain better knowledge of the commands.

Anything else we should know about you?– There is not a lot more that is needed to know about me, but there is some. The first thing is that I have a life. I am often busy, and often have to take time away from the server in order to fulfill other duties in real life. I can dedicate my time to the server, but also have a busy schedule. As well as this, I also help out a lot at school, and am very dedicated to my school work and town. Although I doubt it, there could be lapses of time where I must balance school and Minecraft.

Thank you once more for viewing my application,

    ~Cloudy

Hey Cloudy, Thanks for applying for the Mod position. I am going to run you through your app and how I feel about you getting trial-mod.

Forums: With 600+ posts you have the activity there. +1

In-game: I see you on very frequently and you never seem to rage or flame in-game which shows very good maturity for your age. +1

Teamspeak: This is an area that needs improvement. I don't see you on too much and you aren't ever in public channels, improve this with me noticing and I might change my result. -1

Your application is answered well and for your age you seem to have extremely good grammar which can show maturity. However I would much prefer you wait until you are 13 as you would have a much higher chance in getting the position based on maturity, for example JaydenChadd. However based on the above for now I am going to give you an overall of a +0, boost your teamspeak activity whist playing and hop in public channels with me if you like and then you will have my +1.

    Good luck!

Thank you very much Ritzy. However, I am often in the WarZ teamspeak channel for over an hour daily. It could be time zones. Never the less your feedback is greatly appreciated.

Hey Cloudy! Thank you for applying for moderator!
I see you're decently active on forums, however, I'd like to see you being a little more helpful. Activeness and helpfulness are two important aspects with the forums for being able to communicate with our community. I often see you helping players in-game and warning players accordingly. You do this all while staying active on WarZ. There is no question that your in-game activity is good. I do see you on Teamspeak, but I would like to see you on more. I am in the same time zone as you, so there is no excuse there. I do see you are working on it, though, so keep that up!
Reading your application, I noticed little spelling and grammatical errors, with the occasional "auto-correct" errors. It was mostly well-written and mature, and has an above-average length. I learned a lot about you in the time reading this. However, I did want to clarify on one thing - the question, "What do you consider your greatest weakness?"
I need you to ask yourself these questions: How will you be able to handle your anxiety in a situation where you are faced with hate/abuse from members? How will you handle the stress if you aren't able to put in the time to do your job? How will you control a situation that is chaotic?
I believe you have great potential, and I want you to be a mod. Just work on a few things and you have my full vote!
    Good luck with your application.

I have indeed been working on the things you mentioned. I have been hanging out mostly in the WarZ channel alone on teamspeak, so I'll try to branch out to other channels as well. As for my anxiety, I have been able to cope in these situations. I am now able to simply brush it off, or laugh it off. I have found ways to fight through these tough situations, and to get to the heart of the matter. Thank you very much for your feedback striker!
