Idea Proposal: Rank Transfer

    Okay, so this would allow for the ranks to transfer:

    Builder -> 2 maps

    Adv. builder -> 3 maps, /private

    WE 1 -> 4 maps

    WE 2 -> 5 maps

    WE Pro -> 6 maps and unlimited WE, /generate natural

    This essentially has the ranks get more and more building capability, just like before.

    Yes , i have no knowledge on the Build servers format although i think that the ranks should get more building capability !

    Extra maps are purchased as of now. I don't think something that granted you world edit in the past should grant you more maps in the future. Ranks are given out for people who need world edit. Since everyone has world edit on Build, a rank system would just waste time. If extra maps are needed for the good of the server, they can be granted by a staff member.

    As far as I'm aware, maps are going to be purchasable, and the only rank will be trusted.
    With this idea, you'd have to pretty much implement the rank system into build (people will want to get these perks in the future when they didn't have a creative rank) , and this also removes the incentive to buy maps because you can just get them for free.

    Well, I really disagree with having the only way to get more maps being via money. Creativity shouldn't be limited on a CREATIVE server, so I think having both the rank and map system available would be more fair, in addition to being in closer compliance with the EULA (which still applies).

    Sir_Inge could you explain how the EULA impacts the removal of free ranks from not transferring to another independent server.

    I'm saying that transferring the ranks would be less pay-to-build

    You can /archive maps and that gives you back a map to use. It's not pay2build

    You'll be able to get more maps if you need them (eg one's in rotation).

    You can still archive maps that you've finished, purchasing maps or ranks just gives you the option to edit more than one at a time.

    That said, I like the idea, it just doesn't make sense for Brawl as a server in terms of monetisation, and it's a bit unfair for people who have bought ranks.

    I don't see how it's unfair if someone is granted a rank on one server that partially matches a paid rank benefit.

    The thing is, think about it like this. Someone gives out free tasters of a new food item, then when he decides to sell them people refuse to buy and complain that they are no longer free. See what I am saying; creative currently makes approximately 0 dollars because guess what, the ranks are free. Whereas on build if maps cost money Brawl will make profit and in turn pay more attention and time to build. It all works out in the end.

    Well, here's the problem with monetizing a creative server. It's not really a unique server. If I want to play McWar with my friends, and I want to destroy them with a crossbow, then I have to purchase it from McBrawl. There aren't any other servers like McWar that have free explosive crossbows. McWar is a unique server. But in the case of Build, I don't have to purchase new maps if I want to build, because I can just go to singleplayer. In singleplayer, not only do I have virtually infinite space to build, but if I install WorldEdit, I won't have any restrictions either.

    Now, I can see your response to this already. And you're right, there are a couple reasons why people don't just go to singleplayer all the time. One, because they can't build with their friends. Two, because I believe Brawl is only going to be accepting maps made on Build (if they haven't been doing this for a while already with creative, but I'm not sure about this).

    There is still a very easy way to get around it anyway. Let's say I've used up all my maps, and I want to build another one. I don't want to go to singleplayer for the reasons aforementioned, so I save schematics of all or some of my maps. Then, as an added precaution, I do a worlddownload of the map and save it to my computer. Then I clear the maps I already saved. Now I have extra space and I can build new maps with my friends.

    And I'm not even going to get started on how many maps you can fit into a 512x512 world before you run out of space (especially when you stack them, using a night vision potion to work on them). If Brawl is looking to increase their profits by selling maps, they're looking at a cup of pennies.

    That only applies to game-changing advantages. Buying more maps isn't advantageous to gameplay.

    You are right in every way. However, I tried doing this and in the end I hated it, I want one map per map and if you run out for a reason that benefited the server they do give you a new map, people would have to buy maps if they wanted to keep building multiple at the same time. Maybe not you but most people want to have access to all their maps all the time, like me.

    And I guess that's a personal preference. It is possible to save schematics of all your maps and switch between them, however I think the admins would eventually catch on if everyone did this.

    I think that based off of the majority of the player base that this won't actually be a problem.
