I hear that some people are having lag on brawl server and i seem to also have some lag.
Everyone should know that some blocks in minecraft can give you serios lag for example: someone crashed Creative on brawl server by placing alot of heads
Trees can also give alot of lag because of the leaves.
Doing a short speedtest on speedtest.net will give you you're internet speed but before doing the speedtest be sure that nobody is using your network and you're not downloading or uploading anything because that can give you lower speed results.
I'm having a maximum of 100 Mbps download and 6 Mbps upload.
I get around half the speed on servers that aren't in belgium or close to belgium.

Speediest shows you you'r download speed and upload speed and ping. So it shows u if the server will be slow or fast if u use ur brain.

I want you to realise that the Speedtest.net doesn't tell you your own download speeds. It tells you your ISP's download speeds. It will normally select a server you live within driving distance of and it tests the speed of the line, rather than from your own connection. Speedtest.net isn't in any way accurate to find your internet speeds, especially if the server is overseas.
When I do a Speedtest it will normally say around 54mb/s DL and 12mb/s UP mb/s = megabits a second
    54mbits = 6.75 Megabytes a second.
    12mbits = 1.50 Megabytes a second
The highest DL I've seen on my connection get to is 2.30 Megabytes and that is with an Ethernet cable plugged directly from my modem to my PC. My upload is also only like .50 Megabytes a second.

To find out why the server is lagging for you, you would have to take in 5 different factors.
    -The location
    -The Server's quality
    -The Player Count
    -The Specific map/location
    -Your own connection

Me personally, I get much better connections to servers in places like America/Canada. For instance, a factions server I play on, which is somewhere in the west coast of the US or something. I get around 70-100 ms and it's perfectly playable, no obvious delaying or anything, I don't feel overpowered in PVP and it just feels normal.
On Brawl, no matter what map I'm playing. I will have 120+ms to the server. There's major delays on everything, eating, bowing, souping, potting, you name it. The combat isn't bad. But if the player has speed or is a ninja, I just get dominated no matter what nub it is, they will just smack me around and I can't get a single hit in.
Basically. The lag is no fault of ours. It's something on brawl's end. Either they are paying for a low quality server or perhaps it's just the location. I still feel like them moving it to the east coast would solve any European's connection problems and anyone in the US it wouldn't impact at all.

Interesting  most of the time its code/server side lag though o; Its usually fixed shortly after.

I get around half the speed on US servers.
I already knew about that but i forgot to mention it.

"It will normally select a server you live within driving distance of and it tests the speed of the line, rather than from your own connection."
^^ Thats why you shouldn't let Speedtest.net choose a server for you. ^^

Everyone should test their speed using different servers.
Also to know your ping you can ping different servers in Command Prompt using the ping function. (ping [Server])
If someone does a speedtest then that person should pick a server that's not close to their location.

On speedtest.net i choosed "Roubaix" (France) i got 71.80 Mbit/s download speed (the server is a bit slow today...) and 5.40 Mbit/s upload speed.
EDIT: I got 93.14 Mbit/s download speed and 5.50 Mbit/s upload speed with the server "Roubaix".
I selected "hays, KS" (US) i got 48.96 Mbit/s download speed and 4.96 Upload speed.
Then i selected "Sint Niklaas" (Belgium) and i got 96.03 Mbit/s download speed and 5.84 upload speed.

Also take a look at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_backbone
Btw the brawl server itself is lagging alot sometimes for example if a ctf game ends everyone goes to the lobby and people are not moving anymore because of the lag.

It could also benefit you in the way that you can tell whether the lag is from your side or a server related issue. This way you can tell if you need to call your internet provider about a lack of speed (etc.).

I can tell you from my experience that it is brawl. Minecraft and cmd tell me I get ~120 ms but it is not 120 ms. It might say that but the game is more like a slightly playable 300ms. There's 2/3 second delays on everything I do. Today I was just trying to pvp as chemist and my health pots where being tossed 2/3 seconds later in a the place I was when i threw it so im not getting the heal at all. I am just getting smacked around by some american engineer kid and hes not even in my range to hit.

Then I go onto a server hosted in US west I believe and I have ~120 ms. Normally higher numbers than brawl and it's fine, no delaying, normal pvp, as long as I'm not pvping some kid with a broken arm after the fight sweating his ass off jitterclicking.

I'm pretty sure this problem could be fixed by them updating their server or even finding one in the same price range in a better suited location for EU players.
In my thread I've tried complaining about it, but without as much people on board as possible. The admins, or whoever deals with stuff like this won't realise what it's like for the majority of the EU players. https://www.brawl.com/threads/44738/#post-577176

divide the DL and upload by 8 and you get the right numbers. It's good ping but im pretty sure the DL/UL arent too good

I didn't use speedtest, I used a more reliable source that actually had the nearest connection. So the results are accurate.

yes but mbps is megaBITS per second. the one you're looking for is megaBYTES per second. there's 1 megaBYTE in every 8 megaBITS

    There's nothing wrong with speedtest.net
You just need to know how to use it.

Speedtest.net is the most used website to do a speedtest so if you don't trust it then you should use cmd to test your speed.
You shouldn't let Speedtest.net choose a server for you because it will take the closest server nearby which will give you very good speeds but on other servers you might get half of the speed.
You should test your speed using different servers because some servers might be slow.
NOTE: Speedtest.net doesn't own the servers its just a server from a company being used for uploading and downloading.
There are alot of servers to do the speedtest.

I live in England and have really low download and upload speeds but my Ping is great I very rarely lag on brawl as I get around 90 ping (Obviously it'd be nice to be on an EU server and get 20 but hey.

Yeah I'm hearing of people in the UK still getting better connections than us but even the cheapest Internet in the UK is on par with the best, most expensive internet in Ireland.. We're getting a new ISP because it's heavily needed considering the amount of people on at once(That isn't what makes me lag on brawl) I suppose I'm going to see what kind of connection I'm getting once that comes in
