Got hacked

    Alroght so today i recieved a email from steam saying that someone tried to log into my account from Holland, and they needed the key in the mail to acess it. It also gave me the attackers IP so i looked it up and it turns out that the ip is connected with the website called leaseweb.com (Don't worry, the site is safe). What happened and what do you think i should do to secure my account?

    Report the IP on steam, if possible.

    Change your password as well, just to be safe. Do not friend anyone you don't know.


    I hope you won't get hacked a second time.

    Change your password to a complicated set of numbers and letters and leave it on a sticky note (or two, something psychical that you won't lose). This is what I did when I got a random email from steam. I changed it to something easier a month or two later though.

    I have a very complicated password with 20 letters numbers !'s etc, i really don't understand how they managed to get into my account in the first place.

    Report everything you have to Steam support. I'm pretty sure it sucks but it's the most convenient way to protect yourself. And obviously change your password.

    I checked leaseweb out,and it's a company that hosts servers.There were ones that were in amsterdam (holland's capital city).

    Just change your password, that's all you need to do since your steam password is different than your email.
    So it's a VPN, which makes sense considering amsterdam has no laws against cyber crime really.
