Mods are promoted randomly. You don't apply for it. They are either promoted whenever an admin feels the need to promote, or when an admin(s) does a mod scan.

Sounds good to me, but this would require a subforum for promotion applications. Also, shouldn't you add a section saying: what position are you applying for?

A follow up question to that could be "How often do you play on this server?" This is asking them if they feel they are active on the server.

This doesn't sit well with me. In my eyes, If a moderator wants promotion, they have to gain it properly, by doing their job to the best of their ability day in day out. Admins choose Moderators for promotions in exceptional circumstances, most people can get a dictionary/thesaurus and write a good application, but not everyone can moderate well.

I think Rainywolvess is talking about this Tac42.
I personally believe that moderator promotions should be private between other moderators, administrators, and the owner because you would not want it becoming a popularity contest.

Agreed. Being a Head mod on a server(Ip will remain unsaid), I look for moderators, mod-trainnes, and senior mods, who are in need of, or who deserve a promotion. It is completely disrespectful to APPLY for a promotion. It is basically saying to the admins/Owner, that you are NOT happy with your current rank, you think it is boring, etc, and you want to get a "Better" rank, with more "Power" and more "Responsibility" If you want to fill out a(n) staff promotion form, that proves that you are not ready to be staff, or be promoted for that matter.

    Agreed.
Personally, I enjoy being a War mod and find that if someone does want to promote me, it's their call. I don't want to see these, as they could influence the Admins in a positive or negative vibe. Something that they shall judge themselves; not needing a thread to control them.

And then there's Dwarfiest, who got global mod by making an application for everything....

Not that him being a global mod is bad, he does his work extremely well.
